PREFACE

The Directory of Medical and Health Institutions in Ondo State is published annually by the Department of Research

and Statistics, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Akure.

The publication is a compendium of registered public and private health institutions in the State. It is aimed at

making available to the public, informationon locations and the type of services available / rendered in the various health

institutions in the state.

The contributions of the Departments of Planning, Research and Statistics; and Hospital Services of the State

Ministry of Health to this publication is highly appreciated.

It is hoped that policy makers and other stakeholders in the health sector and the general public will find the

information contained therein useful.

INTRODUCTORY NOTE

Information on location / spread of Health Care Establishments and available services is useful in guiding the general

public in accessing health care services.

The report shows the existence of the following health care establishments in the state: 1 Federal Medical Centre, 4

State Specialist Hospitals, 15 General Hospitals (State), 142 Specialist / General Hospitals (Private), 61 Comprehensive

Health Centres, 346 Basic Health Centres, 10 registered (private) Medical Laboratories, 10 Optical Centres, 7 School

Clinics, 2 Psychiatric Hospitals, and 3 Health Training Institutions.

In terms of spread, every local government in the state has at least 1 Specialist / General Hospital, Comprehensive

Health Centre and Basic Health Centres. Further analysis reveals 1 Hospital to 21,085 people and, 1 Basic /

Comprehensive Health Centre to 8,806 people in the state.
