Bachelor's Degrees
A total of 9,401 bachelor's degrees was awarded by Kentucky
public institutions duri,e, the 1975-76 fiscal year. There were
2,377 bachelor's degree Aferred by Kentucky independent insti-
tutions during the year. Of the total 11,778 degrees, 22.5percent
were in Education, 16.8 percent were in Business and Management,
and 10.1 percent were in the Social Scienceq. In 1974-75 the dis-
ciplines with the largest percent of degrees conferred were also
Education, Business and Management, and Social Sciences with 24,7
percent, 16.2 percent and 11,3 percent, respectively.

Kentucky's public institutions conferred 4,248 master's de-
grees and Kentucky's independent institutions-awarded 461 master's
degrees in 1975-76, a total of 4,709. Of these, 61.4 percent were
in Education, 5.6 percent were in Public Affairs and Services, and
4.5 percent were in Business and Management. Comparative percent-
ages from 1974-75 are 57.6 percent in Education, 8.4 p: .ent in
Public Affairs and Services, and 4.4 percent in Library Science.
(Business and Management had 3,9 percent of the total in 1974-75.)

Doctoral Degrees
In 1975-76, 179 doctoral degrees were conferred at the University of
Kentucky and the University of Louisville. Of the total, 14,5 percent
were in Education, 14.5 percent were in Social Sciences, and 12,3 percent
were in Psychology. In 1974-75, 15,6 percent were ir Education, 15.0per-
cent were in Social Sciences, and 12.3 percent were in Business and Man-
agement. (Psychology had 1,9 percent of the total in 1974-75.)
first-Professional Degrees
First-professional degrees conferred in 1975-76 totaled 835. Of thiS
total, 53.2 percent were in Law, 27.9 percent were in Medicine, 18.1 per-
cent were in Dentistry, and 0.8 percent were in Pharmacy. In 1974-75, 54.7
percent were in Law, 27.6 percent were in Medicine, 16.5 percent were in
Dentistry, and 1,2 percent were in Pharmacy.
