    AMPUTATION

    Above knee Post Op = Priority items at bed side. Worried about Hemorrhage so Tourniquet. Not prioritybut should be there is Incentive Spirometer, dry sterile dressing.

    BLOOD LABS

    Hematocrit = Normal Male range 39% - 52% depending on age.

    Warfin (Coumadin) = Warfin Sodium is an anticoagulant. It antagonizes the action of Vit K, which isneeded for clotting. Omit foods with Vit K like Green Leafy Vegetables, Fish, Liver, Coffee and Tea.

    EENT

    Cataract = No warn packs on eye (could lead to infection or increased edema). DO NOT sleep on sidewhere surgery took place to avoid pressure and edema. Stool softener is recommended too prevenyconstipation and straining bearing down.

    Menieres Disease = Ear fills with endolymph. Diet Therapy low salt. Avoid caffeine. Sufar, monosodiumglutamate and alcohol.

    ENDOCRINE

    Insulin Glargine (Lantus) = Long acting. It has a 24hr duration and is administered once a day at bedtime.

    GASTROINTESTIONAL (GI)

    Gastric Ulcer occurs in Upper Epigasrtium with localiztion to to Left of Midline, exacerbated by food.Pian occurs 30 mins to 1 hr after meal.

    Duodenal Ulcer pain located Right of epigastrium. Pain happens 90 mins to 3 hrs later after eating andusually awakens the client.

    Digoxin (Lanoxin) = narrow therapeutic range (0.8 to 2 ng/mL). Double check dose and take Apical Pulsefor 1 full minute! INFANT Apical 100. If less than 100 for an Infant HOLD Meds. Notify RN and Dr.ADULT Apical pulse is 60 beats per 1 minute or lower, med withheld. Systolic blood pressure is below 90or lower. (USE APICAL PULSE for 1 minute ALWAYS, Systolic is a lazy and not as accurate.) HOLD Meds.Notify RN and Dr.

    Atenolol Hydrochloride (Tenormin) = Beta Blocker to treat Hypertension. Apical pulse is 60 beats per 1minute or lower, med withheld. Systolic blood pressure is below 90 or lower. HOLD Meds. Notify RNand Dr. (USE APICAL PULSE for 1 minute ALWAYS, Systolic is a lazy and not as accurate.) With this medthe nurse checks baseline Renal and Liver Function Tests. This med can cause weakness, nurse assistclient with activities.

    Furosemide (Lasix) = For Heart Failure. Its a Loop Diuretic that effects electrolytes especially, potassium,sodium and chloride.
