1 Introduction

Theairpurifier/airhumidifierDefensor PH15/PH15A incorporates the latest technical ad van ces andmeetsallrecognizedsafetystandards.Nevertheless,improperuseoftheDefensor PH15/PH15Amayresultindangertotheuserorthirdpartiesand/orimpairmentofmaterialassets.

Toensureasafe,proper,andeconomicaloperationoftheairpurifier/airhumidifierDefensor PH15/PH15A,pleaseobserveandcomplywithallinformationandsafetyinstructionscontainedinthepresentoperatinginstructionsaswellastheinstructionsgiveninthemanualsforthecompo-nentsusedinthehumidificationsystem.

2 For your safety

GeneralEvery person working with the Defensor PH15/PH15A must have read and understood the Oper-atinginstructionsbeforecarryingoutanywork.KnowingandunderstandingthecontentsoftheOperatinginstructionsisabasicrequirementforprotectingthepersonnelagainstanykindofdanger,topreventfaultyoperation,andtooperatetheunitsafelyandcorrectly.

All ideograms, signs and markings applied to the unit must be observed and kept in readable state.

QualificationofpersonnelAll actions described in the present Operating instructions (installation, operation, maintenance, etc.) must be carried out only by welltrainedandsufficientlyqualifiedpersonnelauthorisedby the owner.ForsafetyandwarrantyreasonsanyactionbeyondthescopeofthismanualsmustbecarriedoutonlybyqualifiedpersonnelauthorisedbyyourDefensor supplier.

It is assumed that all persons working with the DefensorPH15/PH15Aarefamiliarandcomplywiththeappropriateregulationsonworksafetyandthepreventionofaccidents.

This unit may not be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or men-talabilitiesorpersonswithlackingexperienceand/orknowledge,unlesstheyaresupervisedbyapersonresponsiblefortheirsafetyortheyreceivedinstructionsonhowtooperatetheunit.Children must be supervised to make sure that they do not play with unit.

Intended useTheairpurifier/airhumidifierDefensorPH15/PH15Aisintendedexclusivelyforairpurificationandairhumidificationwithinthespecifiedoperatingconditions (see chapter 9 “Product specifications”).Anyothertypeofapplicationwithouttheexpresswrittenconsentofthemanu-facturerisconsideredasnotconformingwiththeintendedpurposeandmayleadtotheDefensor PH15/PH15A becoming dangerous.Operationoftheequipmentintheintendedmannerrequiresthat all the information in these instructions are observed (in particular the safety instructions).

Danger that may arise from the unit

DANGER! Danger of electric hazard!The Defensor PH15/PH15A is mains powered. One may get in touch with live parts when the unit is open. Touching live parts may cause severe injury or danger to life.Prevention: BeforecarryingoutanyworksettheDefensorPH15/PH15Aoutofoperation(switchofftheunit,disconnectitfromthemains,closewatersupply)andsecuretheunitagainstinadvert-entpower-up.

WARNING!Poorlymaintainedhumidifierscanendangeryourhealth. If the Defensor PH15/PH15A is insufficientlymaintainedharmfulgermscanbuildupinthewaterandthefiltersancanaf-fect the ambient air.Prevention: TheDefensorPH15/PH15Ahastobecleanedinregularintervalsaccordingtochap-ter 6 “Maintenance”. The cleaning work has to be carried out correctly and the evaporator mat as wellasthefiltershavetobereplacedafterthespecifiedlifetime.

Handling the mains cableHandlethemainscablewithcare:keepitawayfromsharpedgesanddonotjamorstrainit.

Never remove the mains plug by pulling the mains cable. Make sure your hands are absolutely dry whenpullingtheplugoutofthesocket.

Lay out the mains cable so that it does not become a stumbling trap.

Connectmainscableonlytoamainssocketwithprotectionearth.Anyextensioncableusedmustbeequippedwithaprotectionearthtoo.

Behaviour in case of dangerIfitissuspectedthatsafe operation is no longer possible, then the Defensor PH15/PH15A should immediately be disconnected from the mains (disconnect mains connector) and se-cured against accidental power-up.Thiscanbethecaseunderthefollowingcircumstances:– iftheDefensor PH15/PH15A is damaged– iftheDefensor PH15/PH15A is no longer operating correctly– ifconnectionsand/orpipingarenotsealed– ifthemainscableisdamaged

All persons working with the Defensor PH15/PH15A must report any alterations to the unit that mayaffectsafetytotheownerwithoutdelay.

ProhibitedmodificationstotheunitNomodificationsmustbeundertaken on the DefensorPH15/PH15Awithouttheexpresswrit-tenconsentofthemanufacturer.

Forthereplacementofdefectivecomponentsuseexclusivelyoriginal accessories and spare partsavailablefromyourDefensor supplier.

Functional descriptionTheradialfan(1)takesintheairfromthetopviathecoarsefilter(2).Afterpassingthroughtheevaporatormat(3)(ortheactivatedcarbonevaporatormat)andthecoarsedustfilter(4)(ortheQuattrofilter)theairisblownoutviatheoutletlatticeonbothsidesoftheunit.

The unit continuously measures the air humidity in the room with the integrated humidity sensor andcomparesitwiththesetreferencehumidityvalue.Iftheactualvalue(e.g.40%rh)isbelowthereferencevalue(e.g.45%rh)thecentrifuge(5)startsandprojectsfinedropstowardstheevaporator mat. The air passing through the evaporator mat absorbs the humidity.Thecoarsedustfilterretainsdustparticlesupto100µm.IftheDefensor PH15/PH15A is equippedwithaQuattrofilteritcanretaindustparticlesupto0.1µm.InadditiontheactivatedcharcoallayerintheQuattrofilterremovesunpleasantodour.

The water level in the base tub is monitored by the level regulating valve in the water tank (Defen-sor PH15) or by the level controlled inlet valve (Defensor PH15A).

– OperationasairpurifierwithhumidificationInthisoperatingmodethefanisrunningcontinuously.Thecentrifugeisonlyswitchedoniftheactualhumidityvalueisbelowthesetreferencevalue.

– OperationasairpurifierwithouthumidificationInthisoperatingmodethefanisrunningcontinuously.Thecentrifugeremainsswitchedoff.

3.6 Options

Silver ionisationAssemblykittoequiptheunitwithsilverionisationelectrodesto degerminate the water in the base tub with silver ions.Note:Thesilverionisationkitmustbeinstalledandconfig-uredonlybyaservicetechnicianofyourDefensor repre-sentative.

Radio humidity sensorThe radio humidity sensorcanbeusedinsteadoftheinte-grated humidity sensor.Themaximumrangeoftheradio humidity sensor in an open room is 25 mNote: the radio humidity sensor as well as the receiver board mustbeinstalledandconfiguredonlybyaservicetechnicianofyourDefensor representative.

Leakage sensorAssembly kit to equip theDefensor PH15/PH15A with a leakagesensor.If theleakagesensordetectsaleakage,the inlet valve (PH15A only) is closed and error message is triggered.Note:TheleakagesensormustbeinstalledandconfiguredonlybyaservicetechnicianofyourDefensor representa-tive.

4.1 Unpacking the unit and checking the scope of delivery

Unpacking the unitOpenthepackingandremovetheunitandtheaccessories.Checkthedeliveryforcompleteness(standard delivery, see chapter 3.8). Please contact your Defensor supplier in case something is lacking, they will be glad to send you the missing part without delay.

Pleasechecktheequipmentfordamage.PleasereportanydamagetoyourDefensor supplier andtothecarriers,asrequired.

PackagingTheoriginalpackagingoftheDefensorPH15/PH15Awasdesignedforoptimumsafetyduringtransportation. Please preserve the original packing material in case you once have to return the unitforsomereason.

Incaseyouwishtodisposeofthepackaging,observethelocalregulationsonwastedisposal.Neverdisposeofthepackagingtotheenvironment.

4 Commissioning

4.2 Transporting/storing the unit

TransportThe DefensorPH15/PH15Aisequippedwithbuilt-inrollersforeffortlessdisplacement.Ifyouhavetolifttheunitfordisplacementorrelocationaskanotherpersonforassistance(weightoftheempty unit: 25 kg).

Important!Topreventthewaterfromrunningoutmakesurethewatertankandthebasetubareemptybeforemovingtheunit.

StoringStoretheunitinaprotectedareameetingthefollowingrequirements:

– room temperature: 1 ... 40 °C– roomhumidity:10...75%rh

4.3 Choose location

PleaseobservethefollowingnotesforthecorrectpositioningoftheDefensor PH15/PH15A:

– Placetheunitonasolidhorizontalsurface,ifpossiblefree-standingandfreelyaccessible(ob-serve minimal distances).

– A mains socket should be located close to the unit.

– Toensuretheentirevolumeofairisfullyrecirculated,donotplacetheunitinrecessedcom-partments, closed corridors, behind curtains, etc.

– Donotplaceanyobjectsontheunit(performancereduction).

– Makesuretheairflowisnotdirectedtowardsobstacles(pillars,furniture,etc.)orcoldouterwalls(riskofcondensation).

– Continuousdirectsunlightisharmfulfortheunitandcanaffectthecorrectfunctionoftheinte-gratedhumiditysensor.Thereforedonotexposetheunittocontinuousdirectsunlight.

– The unit must not be installed in hazardous loca tions and in rooms where water splashes may occur.

4.4 Connecting the water supply (PH15A only)

Thewatersupplyhastobeconnectedtotheunitbyaqualifiedspecialistaccordingtotheillustra-tion below. The installation data has to be maintained.Important! The local regulationsregardingtheconnectionofunitstodrinkingwatersystemsmust be observed.

Drinking water without additives:– Admissible water pressure: 0.5...6.0 bar– Admissible water temperature: 5...40 °C

4.5 Putting the unit into operation

ProceedasfollowstoputtheDefensor PH15/PH15A into operation:• PH15:fillthewatertank(seechapter5.1)

PH15A:opentheshut-offvalveinthewatersupplyline.• Connectunittothemains.

CAUTION!Makesuretherequiredsupplyvoltage(seetypeplate)matchesthelocalmainsvoltage,oth-erwisedonotconnecttheDefensorPH15/PH15Atothemains!

CAUTION!TheDefensorPH15/PH15Amustbeconnected only to grounded mains. Never connect the unit to an outlet without protective earthing.

Place an absorbent cloth below the unit.

Drinking water without additives

To maintain the monitor-ingoftheunitduringfilling,neitherswitchoffthe unit nor disconnect it fromthemains!

Important! Screw on tank cap until it comes to a stop!

Afterreinstallingthewatertankwaitbytheunituntilthefillingsoundstops.

Ifthelockisnotreleased(step3),thecarriageremainsfixedtotheunitinopenposition.

5.2 Switching the unit on and off

The unit loads the settings that were active when the device was shut down last. Upon completion the operating displayappears.ThelookoftheoperatingdisplaydependswhethertheDefensorPH15/PH15A is operated in “Normal operating mode” or in “Program mode”.

5.5 Program operation

TheoperationoftheDefensorPH15/PH15Acanbecontrolledviacustomisableoperatingprograms.Theseprogramsallowtooperatetheunitatapresettimewiththerequestedoperatingmodeandfanstep.ThisgreatlyfacilitatestheadaptionoftheDefensorPH15/PH15Atoyourparticularrequire-ments (e.g. adjusted to the business hours and/or working time).

Everyprogramconsistsofastarting point(dayoftheweekandhour),areference humidity value, the operating mode and the desired fan step. Up to 2 starting points with individual programs may be set up per day. Inprogrammodethecurrentprogramremainsactiveuntilthefollowingprogramstarts(onthesameor on any other day).

6 Maintenance

6.1 Maintenance intervals

The DefensorPH15/PH15Acanonlyprovidefullhumidificationandpurificationperformanceiftheunit is regularly cleaned and the wearing parts are replaced. The maintenance intervals mostly dependontheloadoftheambientair,thewaterqualityandtheoperatingtime.

Pleaseconsidertheintervalsforcleaningandreplacingtheindividualcomponentsinthetablebelowasapproximatevalues.Iftheroomairisheavilycontaminatedthefiltersmustbecleaned/replacedmoreoften.Ifthewaterisveryhardthepartsincontactwithwatermustbecleanedmoreoften.

IftheDefensorPH15/PH15Amustbereplacedoriftheunitisnotneededanymore,proceedasfollows:

1. Switchofftheunit,separateitfromthemainsandsecureitagainstinadvertentpower-up.Closeshut-offvalveinthewatersupplyline(PH15Aonly).

2. Havetheunit(andallothersystemcomponents,ifnecessary)unmountedbyaqualifiedserv-ice technician.
