Screen Materials

MDF is a dense, smooth wood with no recognisable surface grains. Its smooth surface makes it ideal for varnishing or painting.

Weathertex Compressed Hardwood comprises of 97% timber and 3% Natural wax. It comes in two different finishes, Smooth and Woodsman (Treelike Emboss). For added UV protection it can be sealed in Jarrah or Charcoal Finish. Weathertex comes with a 7 year warranty against rotting splitting and cracking.

AUSTRALIAN COMPRESSED HARDWOOD

Corten is a high-strength steel that when exposed to the weather forms a natural surface rust.

PVC is a lightweight foam core material, which is solid on the outside and soft on the inside.

As a natural product, timber expands or contracts during different weather conditions. Therefore we recommend a gap of at least 2 mm be allowed between screens to allow for natural movement.

QAQ Screens are NOT A STRUCTURAL PRODUCT and should not be used for load bearing or reinforcement. All installation should be onto an appropriate frame or backing.

We recommend our screens are secured around all perimeters to a frame or backing at minimum 300mm centres, with fastenings no less than 12 mm from the edge of the screen. If preferred, the screens can be glued to the frames and clamped untill cured, using high grade, waterproof builder’s adhesive.
