Knowing where to divide syllables can help you read unfamiliar words.


Today, we’re going to take a look at closed syllables and open syllables in VCV words.


FOCUS QUESTION: What is a closed

syllable?


A closed syllable is followed by a consonant and has a short vowel sound.
