Transcript of December2013
Happy Holidays Timber Creek! We hope that you had a safe and warm Thanksgiving Holiday Break. Can
you believe it is almost 2014?
November was a busy month at Timber Creek. The Fall Book Fair was a HUGE success! We hope that
your students enjoyed all the books that they purchased! As a result of their voting, the students were
able to enjoy Mrs. Acosta being "mummified”. From the profits that we earned, we were able to pur-
chase many more books for the library. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped out during this busy
week. Thank you to everyone that was able to attend our “Breakfast with Books” and “Family Night” dur-
ing the 3rd Grade performance. The BMX Stunt Team visited Timber Creek this past month, reinforcing
the importance of a Drug Free life. Hopefully you were able to join us at Chick-Fil-A or say hello to the
Chick-Fil-A Cow when it visited Timber Creek?
We were also able to approve some teacher requests this month, bringing much needed resources to the
teachers for use in the classroom.
What does December and January have in store for Timber Creek? We will kick off December with
“Holiday Shoppe”, a fantastic opportunity for your child to purchase gifts to give the family. Also, we
have arranged for a special visit from Santa the night of the 5th Grade Performance. This is your oppor-
tunity to skip the lines at the mall and get that special message to Santa.
In December we will have our first spirit nights at Rosa’s. We are excited to be offering discounted roller
skating at inner-skate in Lewisville the afternoon of December 20th. What a great opportunity for some
family fun at a reduced price. Look inside for more details.
In January we will be launching a fantastic fundraiser which will give you many opportunities to save
LOTS of money! These coupons can be used at Tom Thumb, Ulta, Five Below, The Lego Store and many,
many more fantastic stores in our area.
Thank you for all your support during 2013, and we look forward to working with you during 2014. Have
a wonderful and safe winter break. Michelle Hernandez

The holiday season is here! This special time of the year brings with it numer-ous opportunities to volunteer at school. During this busy time we rely heavily on our wonderful volunteers to ensure our students and staff have the assis-tance they need so they can take advantage of special events and activities. Although we welcome everyone, we also need to adhere to LISD policy re-garding volunteers. Per district policy, a background screening must be com-plete prior to volunteering on campus, so please be sure and complete it early so you can participate in the exciting events!
Speaking about exciting events and volunteers– the Book Fair which was sponsored by PTA, was a fantastic success! The library was transformed into reader’s paradise and the excitement was evident on the student’s faces as they browsed the books in anticipation of making the perfect selection. Vol-unteers worked tirelessly assisting students, parents and staff members with purchases and restocking the shelves. Although they volunteered numerous hours, they welcomed everyone with a smile! Thank you to all who volun-teered and made the Book Fair possible!
Our next newsletter will be in February, so I would like to close by wishing the entire Timber Creek community a wonderful holiday season!
Sincerely, Dr. Sharon Heier Proud Principal of Timber Creek Elementary

Get involved with TCE PTA and
Volunteer!!!
Whether your child is 5 or 18, it is never too late to get involved!
Volunteering at school is a great way to show your kids that their school and their edu-
cation is important!
Volunteering teaches by example that it is important to give back to the community.
Not only will Timber Creek reap the benefits of your involvement — you will, too! By in-
teracting with teachers and other parents, you'll gain a firsthand understanding of your
child's daily life. You will get to know the other children that surround your child every
day. You'll also tap into trends of school life that can help you communicate with your
kids as they grow.
And did you know volunteering with the PTA is FUN!?!! We help with exciting things like
the BOOK FAIR, FALL Festival, PARTIES, and Teacher treat days! We get into school areas
most parents don't get to see.
There are many ways YOU can volunteer! Various committees, Fall Fest, Tiger Shop, Li-
brary assistance, Book Fair, and our PTA bulletin board, just to name a few!
To sign up for our General Volunteer list, please go to our VolunteerSpot located online
at http://vols.pt/n9vzZ6 . Or use your phone and scan the code to sign up.
Thank you in advance for helping Timber Creek, our amazing teachers, and our wonder-
ful children out this 2013-14 school year! ~TCE PTA
