Hey Key Clubbers! Thanks to all the members who came to the November DCM and Jingle Bell Run & Walk! Both recaps are on the next page. We have lots of divisional events coming up (the December and January DCMs as well as the Key Club Masquerade Mash), so I hope to see you all sometime in the next few weeks! I also encourage everyone to think about running for an officer position and possibly even Lieutenant Governor! If you want to run for a District or International Board position, please let me know! I can answer any questions you have about the election process or speech writing in general. District Convention is coming up as well, so please ask your officers for more information if you are interested! This month’s Rainbow Board question is: when/where is District Convention and will you be attending? Check out page 8 for more info on DCON and page 11 for more info on the Rainbow Board. I hope to see you all soon! In Love and Service, In Love and Service,
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself
in the service of others.” -Mahatma Gandhi
EVENTS RECAP
Thank you so much to everyone who came to the July DCM! We had 36 people there and in less than 5 hours, we raised almost $300 for the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program, Eliminate Project, and District
Project. Everyone definitely had a blast washing cars under the sun and bonding with one another. Shout-out to West Seattle and Evergreen for
bringing the most members from their clubs!
JINGLE BELL RUN &
WALK RECAP
Despite the freezing weather, the Jingle Bell Run & Walk was a success! We had tons
of members from D26 volunteer and it was a great way to benefit the Arthritis
Foundation. Thanks to everyone who came to our first divisional volunteer
event!
NOVEMBER DCM
I hope everyone had fun at the November DCM, bonding over pasta, salad, and ice
cream! We made over 50 holiday cards for kids at the Seattle Children’s Hospital and we also collected over 50 cans of food for
the St. Mary’s Food Bank!

ELIMINATE PROJECT & KCCP
ELIMINATE PROJECT
Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined
forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT). Neonatal
tetanus kills one baby every nine minutes—nearly 60,000 newborn children every year. A significant number of women also die due to
maternal tetanus. The effects of the disease are excruciating—tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and
touch. MNT is completely preventable - it only costs $1.80 to protect mothers
and pass on immunity to their children.
MNT has also recently been eliminated in China, so keep on fundraising so we can eliminate MNT from the rest of the
world!

KIWANIS CHILDREN’S CANCER
PROGRAM
The Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program (KCCP) was founded in 2010 by Past
Governor Frank Morehouse of the PNW District of Kiwanis International. Past
Governor Frank’s inspiration was a young cancer patient named Penny, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Penny
eventually lost her battle with cancer and KCCP is dedicated to Penny’s memory.
Each year, thousands of children are
diagnosed with cancer and with the help of research, their chances of surviving have
tripled. Finding a cure for children’s cancer will benefit cancer patients worldwide
because although research of adult cancers does nothing to help cure children’s
cancers, research of children’s cancers can help find a cure for adult cancers.
The hospitals we support are: the
Doernbecher Children’s hospital; the Seattle Children’s Hospital; and the British
Columbia Children’s Hospital. Let me know if you have any questions!
PROJECT EDUCATE
PROJECT EDUCATE
Jamaica is known for its blue Caribbean beaches, its rich blue
mountain coffee, Bob Marley, the fastest man in the world - Usain Bolt – and its food, but people
often fail to recognize the hardships people face in this paradise.

Project is Project Educate – our goal is to raise $30000 to send to
three schools in Jamaica to provide library equipment, student
assistance, and classroom materials to improve the quality of
education.
