Keep the Torch Burning In ancient Greek marathons a torch

was handed to each runner at the start-

ing line. To win, they had to cross the

finish line with their torch still burn-

ing. What a picture! ―Unto whomso-

ever much is given, of him shall be

much required‖ (Luke 12:48). In

God’s kingdom you are called to run

your best race and break the tape with

the fire in your heart still burning. The

torch race was a tough one that led

through mountains and valleys.

Doubtless there were times when oth-

ers would pass you by, when your

strength would fail, when you lost

your way and had to get back on track,

or stumbled and had to get back up.

What counted in this race was not

style - but staying power!

The Bible says: ―Run with endurance

the race that is set before us, looking

unto Jesus…lest you become weary

and discouraged‖ (Heb 12:1-3

NKJV). How did Jesus run His race?

As a boy of twelve He told His par-

ents, ―I must be about my Father’s

business‖ (Luke 2:49). Later, when

the crowd tried to take Him in a dif-

ferent direction and impose their

agenda on Him, He said, ―I must

work the works of him that sent

me‖ (John 9:4). Facing the cross, He

announced, ―For this cause I was

born‖ (John 18:37 NKJV). On the

cross, He announced, ―It is fin-

ished‖ (John 19:30). In Revelation

chapter one verse fourteen we get

one of our last recorded glimpses of

Christ, and ―His eyes are like a flame

of fire‖ (NKJV). He crossed the fin-

ish line with the torch still burning.

Let Him be your example!

Rightfully or not, New Year’s Day

Need a great piece of jewelry,

made just for you? How about

giving Ms. E’s Design a call.

Meet the designer and owner

Sister Esther Lawrence. Ms.

Lawrence states that she has al-

ways been a lover of jewelry and

shoes. She has repaired items all

her life and one day decided to

make her own. About one year

ago her daughter convinced her

to start selling her pieces. She

now has a photo album full of

her designs for all to see and pur-

chase. She also creates pieces

made to her customer’s specifi-

cations. She states she gets her

inspiration from just having an

active and creative mind. “It’s Esther Lawrence displays her talent with friend Agnes

all in my mind, I can she how it

should look.” When her visions

become active she states she has

worked on pieces until the early

morning hours. Ms. Lawrence

finds jewelry making very relax-

ing and really enjoys it. Her cli-

entele range is from the young

in age to the young at heart. She

is most pleased when she see’s

her creations on her church fam-

ily. She noted that a member

was wearing a piece that she had

designed and received as a gift

and really loved it. Due to recent

health issues she has not been as

busy creating, but with her faith

in God she knows she will be

back doing what she loves. Her

plans for Ms. E’s Design is to

expand her customer base by

participating in shows and ex-

hibits, creating a website and

hosting parties. So now that you

know who she is and what she

can do, take a moment to view

her items. You never know

what you will find. Now is a

great time if you are looking for

that perfect one of a kind gift. If

she doesn’t have it she can make

it.
