A FEW WORDS FROM

YOUR CHAIRMAN

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone for their

cards, messages and support at the AGM in October, when I was

privileged to become your Centre Chairman for a second time.

I would like to thank John and Linda Heal and John and Sue

Crockford for their hard work in organising this event and for

making it run like clockwork. I would also like to thank Euphine for

helping to organise the music at the Church Service and Simon Le-

Pine Williams for taking the service and John Crockford for stepping

in to take the Committee photos.

Thank you to you all.

My chosen charity this year is the Children’s Liver Disease

Foundation (CLDF.)

I am sure this will come as no surprise to many of you, but our

personal experience of being told that our granddaughter has liver

disease has been a difficult and challenging time, but if we have

learnt one lesson from this journey it has been how little known this

is. My personal view was that you could damage your liver due to

alcohol and diet but in children this is obviously not the case. We

have met many wonderful families who each have their own story to

tell but there is one common link between them all, CLDF; they

provide support and information for those families, as well as being a

networking facility so that we can learn from each other. Our fund

raising this year will be ring fenced for work in the Devon and

Cornwall geographical area and believe me, you will be astounded by

Page 3: DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015 The Chairman and Committee Members of the Devon and Cornwall Centre would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous

`

the number of families who will benefit from our efforts. I

announced the charity at the AGM and a member of our Centre

recognised the logo on the hessian bags. They approached me to say

that a school friend of their daughter has used the services of

CLDF and that they get involved in fund raising events in their area.

It just goes to show that a family very close to you could benefit

from our efforts.

I would therefore ask that as well as supporting us with fund raising,

that you also might consider purchasing some of the merchandise we

have available, which will help raise awareness of liver disease.

2016 is the 60th Anniversary of our Centre and as such, we are

holding a celebration rally at the Mount Edgcumbe Estate in Cornwall

from 28th April to 2nd May. This promises to be a great fun packed

weekend which will also incorporate the traditional Chairman’s Rally

events. Booking early is strongly advised to secure your place.

Other events that may be of interest to you….If you like to dress up

and let your hair down why not join us at the annual Dinner Dance at

The Penventon Park Spa Hotel in Redruth. Children are welcome to

attend and further details can be obtained from the Stewards.

Family Fun weekend will be in April again but at Broadleigh Farm in

Stoke Gabriel. Bring your crab lines for a few hours down on the

quay!

There will be a Chairman’s Challenge this year; come and see your

Chairman and several other members complete a 15000ft tandem

skydive from Dunkeswell Airfield. There are a couple of spare seats

in the airplane… and parachutes if anyone is interested in joining us!

There is a rally at Escot to coincide with this event.

Page 4: DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015 The Chairman and Committee Members of the Devon and Cornwall Centre would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous

`

Ladies Charity Rally will be held at Launceston Rugby ground. Please

come and support this event, as it will be the main fund raiser for

our Charity. There will be an auction and lots of fun for all!

The National Rally at Weston Park will be a great event and an

opportunity to meet friends from other Centres.

Thank you to Michelle and Dave Stuttaford for working hard on

getting the rally book pulled together; we hope to have this out

before Christmas which is no mean feat!

Thank you to the Stewards for giving up their time for our

enjoyment and to the Committee / willing volunteers for the coming

year in showing your support for our Centre.

To you the Ralliers, I hope you make the most of the rallying season

and enjoy it as much as I will. Thank you for your continued support.

Martin

`

It is unbelievable that I am already writing this article for the Christmas Newsletter. Since the

AGM time seems to have flown by with the normal secretarial duties, such as notifying Caravan

Club details of the new committee, making sure that the dates for committee meeting have

been set and booked with Trethorne etc. The usual amount of New Meets continues to join the

Centre and is welcome by Email letters. Sometimes a response is generated, which makes the

job seem more satisfying; at least not all the Emails are put in the WPB!!

We all look forward to 2016’s rallying season and hopefully we will meet up on the rally field. If

not before, please make a special effort to attend the Centres 60th Anniversary Rally at Mount

Edgcumbe. It will be a splendid weekend.

If you feel you would like to help the Centre and/or the committee in anyway, please feel free to

approach any one of us. We have plenty of jobs which can be done, without being on the

committee.

All that remains for me to do is to wish you A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and see you in 2016.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

LYMES DISEASE

The Chairman has received an e-mail from a

Centre member who is being treated for Lymes

Disease at the moment.

This disease is usually contracted when bitten by

an infected tick and people are at risk when

spending time on moorland, walking the coastal

path or in any grassy areas where ticks are

prevalent. It can take up to 6 weeks for the

disease to show itself after the bite but if

untreated it can lead to serious illness which can

be difficult to diagnose and resolve.

If you are planning to steward a rally could you

please make your attendees aware of this nasty

disease.

Further information is available at:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/Lyme-disease

`

The following recommendations from the Hon. Treasurer were accepted by the Committee and

will come into force from January 2016:

Admin Fee:

After producing a comparison of number of nights out and number of vans out over last 3 years the

figures as follows:

Vans out: 2014: 1138 2013: 1247 2012: 1676

Nights out: 2014: 4221 2013: 4556 2012: 6425

There has been a decline in ralliers so to encourage ralliers back out on to the rally field my

recommendation for the Admin fee which will still be required on EVERY SINGLE rally, without

exception (including foreign holidays and business rallies): IS

Admin Fee:

A one off payment as follows:

1-3 nights £2 + VAT

4-6 nights £4 + VAT

7 nights and above £6 + VAT

The change in admin fee represents a 30% reduction in income from the previous year

This is a one off price and applies to the rally. For example if you attend a rally of 4-6 nights but only

attend for 2 nights the charge is still £4 plus VAT

Rally Fee:

All rallies (including business, foreign) A fee of £1.00 plus VAT . This fee is designed to cover all the

costs of the rally expenses such as printing, postage, sweets for children

Social Fee:

Social Fee must be applied for tea and coffee and FULL original receipts need to be submitted with

return

Free Site Fees:

To continue with the honorary positions receiving free site fees when rallying as the cost of this is

covered by the Club Grant, up to a total of 12 nights , 6 weekends a year. All other Committee

persons shall pay for their own site fees, with the exception of the person taking Flag, on a holiday

rally the two weekends are paid for again this is covered by the Club Grant or a free pitch with the

site.

Business Rally :

All business rallies will incur a social charge where applicable As all business rallies are self-funding

there is NO Chairman’s allowance.

Page 15: DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015DECEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015 The Chairman and Committee Members of the Devon and Cornwall Centre would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous

`

Deposits:

The deposit for all weekend rallies is to remain at £5. The deposit for special or holiday rallies is to

remain at £10. Full payment may be requested on special/holiday rallies at least 4 weeks prior to to

rally commencing.

Stewards site fees:

The centre has said that where stewards pitches are not given free or subsidised the centre would

reimburse, this is uneconomical if 10units or less are booked on the rally.

So where NO free pitch or pitches are given

Rallies with 10 units or less

One set of pitch fees can be claimed

Rallies with 11 units or more

Two sets of fees can be claimed

Vouchers:

At present a book of 5 vouchers costs £22 with the face value of each stating £5. These will remain

the same.

Raffle Proceeds:

The raffle proceeds from the AGM, Dinner Dance, Chairmans and Ladies Charity will all go to the

Charity if you want to support this year's charity please support these rallies and from all other

rallies is retained until the last committee meeting prior to the AGM at which point the Committee

shall decide how much should be allocated to the Chairman’s chosen charity.

Paperwork returns:

All rally returns must be completed on the new 2014-5 forms, if this is not done the paperwork will

be returned to steward for completion on the right form. All returns must be completed and sent to

the Treasurer within 21 days of the end of the rally. Action will be taken if not received by then. This

is from immediate affect.

Marquee/Trailer Movement:

Each time the marquee/trailers are used a £1.00 plus VAT per unit for each rally is to be charged,

with the fuel claimed back from the Treasurer with a VAT receipt.

prize for the winner.
