13. LFC Trip

Pupils from Year 11 enjoyed a day at Reduc@te educational facility, located within Liverpool Football Club, as part of an initiative to boost motivation, self-esteem and promote boys literacy.

The students were accompanied by School Learning Mentor Ann Marie Moore and English Teacher Miss Purcell. The students undertook several tasks which meant having to put their observational skills, listening skills and ICT skills to good use, learning valuable literacy skills and confidence building techniques along the way.

Pupils participated in a range of activities such as brain gym, treasure hunts and literacy activities. The boys were motivated by the use of ICT, topics being linked to Liverpool Football Club and the surrounding area as well as having the opportunity to meet Liverpool legend Phil Neale.

The boys were also treated to a live performance from Anfield’s own in house impressionist and funny man Darren Farley, which had them falling about with laughter. A wide range of media was used to engage the pupils as well as interactive activities which took place around the ground. The boys left with a higher level of confidence, especially in literacy skills and a heightened sense of confidence and motivation. All in all, it was a very successful and enjoyable trip.
