    The win was the 21st career titlefor Shultis and was worth $1,700.Petraglia earned $1,000 as the run-ner-up. Petraglia and fellow Hallof Famer Tom Baker of King,

    North Carolina, earned an addi-tional $250 as the two squad lead-ers.

    Curtis Hetmeyer Wins LIGBTAt JIB Lanes

    FLUSHING, NY - Curtis Hetmeyer, a 46 year old left hander fromValley Stream, NY, won LIGBTs top prize of $1,000 at JIB Lanes.Curtis defeated second place finisher Ron Hatchett, NYC, 258-248 inthe final shootout. While Ron earned $500 third place went to Dexter Sapp, Valley Stream, NY with a 232 worth $250. Derek Brandi,Whitestone, NY earned $225 with his fourth place finish with a 224 andfifth went to Jason Nicholas, Wantagh, NY with a 211 worth $200. Thiswas Curtis first LIGBT victory and he was bowling against 4 other LIGBT winners.

    The JIB final shootout was a high scoring exciting match. While therewere a lot of strikes, everyone had an open by the 6th frame. The leadchanged almost every frame with Curtis throwing a triple in the 8ththrough 10th frames giving him the victory. Ron could have won thetournament with a double in the final frame but left a 9 count on his firstshot.

    The JIB Lanes tournament drew an incredible fall crowd of 107entries, advanced 19 bowlers to the finals, and paid out $3,545. All final-ists earned at least $80! The JIB house shot was used and scoring was,as expected, extremely high; the cut was 782 in the 1pm squad and 776in the 3pm squad. High series of the tournament was shot by 4th placefinisher Derek Brandi with a 931 series (with 108 bonus pins) in the 3pmsquad.

Drew also achieved a rare feat by posting a cleanall-spare opener of 177, his only strike being his tenthframe fill shot.

    In a match between the leaders, Montvaleleapfrogged into first by taking two of three gamesfrom Bowler City I, 2945-2789. Fourteen-year-oldTappan Zee freshman Matt Russell pushed his aver-age to 212 with a triple deuce 201-202-241-644 tolead the victors; chipping in were eleven-year-oldJoseph Hammer Mahoney with 206-192 and JamesReagan-Ward a 212. Dumont sophomore KyleSchellberg, the league average leader at 219,

    slammed 230-235-662 for BC I which also had fine posts from Kristen Kane 197 and Janina Santoro 190.

    In other clashes, Lodi, after spotting Holiday II theopener, captured four points by squeaking past its rival

    by one point in a nail-biter finish, 977-976 as anchor Chris Navarro rose to the occasion with a scorching249 while teammate Nick Ferrante added a 212 single.Lighting up the telescore for Holiday II were TomChamberlain 219-236 and Craig Oriente 230-205.Thirteen-year-old Hunter Perry fired 214-203 andHassan Izzard 217 to lead Fair Lawn past NorthArlington, 2848-2691; highs for the latter were VinAmato 206, Haley Hassan 189 and Jenai Bacote 186.T-Bowl, closing well behind Pat Mayer 187, MattMorris 187 and Josh Spiegel 180, earned two points toset up a position match against Holiday II.
