Pastors letter Dear parishioners, The last Sunday of Advent is here and Christmas Eve is this coming Tuesday. As a reminder, please note that our Christmas Eve Family Mass which begins with the prelude of the Children’s Christmas Pag-eant at 4:30 PM will be packed. Come early for a good seat. Please do not reserve any seats for family members coming late. This causes Christmas riots and is not a pleasant way to cele-brate our Savior’s birth at all. As well the Solemn Christmas Mass at Night begins with a prel-ude of Carols at 8:30 PM. This Mass, too, is packed and the same request holds for it too: PLEASE DO NOT RESERVE SEATS FOR THOSE COMING IN LATE. On Christmas Day, we will have only one Mass at 9 AM. Last year it was comfortably full. Because the Church now allows Vigil Masses the night before which started in the late 60’s, we have lost the tradition of waiting until Christmas Day to cele-brate Christ’s birth. I think we must recover our older tradition of elevating the day of the Feast, not the night before, but I think that is a lost cause. Thus, on Christmas Day, there will be plenty of room and the Mass will truly be an experience of “all is calm and all is bright!” Of course, we will have many Catholic and Protestant visitors at our Christmas Masses, as well as, visiting family members of our parishioners. Let us be most welcoming of them! On behalf of Fr. Solomon and myself, we both pray that you have a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. And thank you for all your cards and gifts this Christmas season! We are both very grateful. God bless you. Your pastor,

The Common Chalice: If you are experiencing any kind of illness; such as: colds or flu symptoms or anything communicable, please refrain from drinking the Precious Blood from the common Chalice. Yes, communicable diseases; such as colds and flus can be “caught” by drinking after someone who is ill. As well, if you are not feel-ing well, do not extend the “handshake” of peace and please respect those who do not desire to shake hands during Mass. A simple nod of the head or smile is sufficient. If the flu becomes epidemic, the common chalice and “handshake of peace” will be suspended. Keep in mind that Catholic teaching insists that we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus entirely under either form of the Host or Precious Blood.

In The Kindness of Giving Please help those with no place to call their own by donating new or gently used blankets, socks, hats, gloves & peanut butter. There is a Christ-mas box in the narthex for items.

Imagine trying to find a place to lay your head on a freezing night. Many homeless are men, but increasingly women & children are among their ranks. You and I are blessed to be able to say, “There but for the grace of God go I.” May God bless you for your loving kindness.
