Many of you participated in the Alpha Marriage Course we offered a number of years ago. Nicky and Slia Lee, who developed the Marriage Course, have now created a Parenting Teenagers Course. We are excited to offer this course over five sessions early next year. Over five sessions you will discover practical tools to help you: 1) Keep your long-term aim in mind, 2) Meet your teenagers’ needs, 3) Set effective boundaries, 4) Help develop your teenagers’ emotional health, 5) Pass on values and help them make good choices. The aim of The Parenting Teenagers Course is to equip parents and caregivers of teenagers aged 11-18 years old with strategies to build a healthy relationship while guiding them into adulthood. During the course we will be seated in small groups based on the age of your oldest child. Each session will include a catered dinner. The youth will be participating in Sunday Night Live while parents are attending the course. A sign up will be emailed shortly. The course will be held every other Sunday from 5 to 7 pm starting January 13 (Jan. 13, Jan. 27, Feb. 10, Feb. 24, Mar. 10.) Email Amy Jackson with any questions ([email protected]). Advent in Catechesis In the Catechesis atriums, our children begin

the season of Advent by placing purple tablecloths on the prayer tables and bringing out our Advent wreaths. We prepare for the feast of Christmas by changing the liturgical color on the prayer table, marking the weeks of the church year on our liturgical calendar, and lighting a new candle each week to mark the nearing of our celebration of Jesus' birth. Advent is a particularly rich time for music in the atrium. The children love singing the songs which match the prophecies we read each week.

The children learn that the word Advent means “coming.” In Advent, we are waiting to celebrate the coming of the baby Jesus in Bethlehem. We are also waiting for the second coming of Jesus. We talk about this time as Parousia, when God will be all in all and God's kingdom will have no end. We also talk about how Jesus comes to us daily in the reading of the Word, prayer, and in the Sacraments. - Cindy

Youth Christmas Party Scheduled Sunday, December 9 (5 - 7 pm)
