Hello,
It’s hard to believe we’re already in the midst of the holiday season. The Zelienople Christmas Parade and
Winter Concerts certainly help to put us in the holiday spirit! Thank you to the Directors and the students for all
of your hard work and awesome performances!
Congratulations to all of the students
who were chosen for the PMEA Honors Band. Seneca always has a large number of musicians selected,
which shows what an excellent band program we have! See the article
later in this newsletter from the Directors.
Also, December 1 students planning to
join the spring trip to the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washing-ton D.C. will need to have their
$375.00 in their trip account. Please be prompt with your payment so we can meet our due date with the travel
agency.
I encourage you all to get involved. Your support is much needed and
greatly appreciated.
Hope to see you at the concerts!

December 2014
It is that time of year again for various festival bands to begin. Most recently Seneca
Valley students auditioned for PMEA District 5 Honors Band at Westminster College. We would like to sincerely congratulate ALL of the students that tried out this year. It takes a tremendous amount of time, effort, and dedication to prepare for honors band. What
you learn by working on the solo and through the audition process is extremely benefi-cial to your musical development.
District 5 is comprised of schools in Butler, Beaver, Lawrence, and Mercer counties.
Approximately 300 students auditioned for a band of 125 players. We are extremely proud to congratulate 46 Seneca Valley students who earned a position in the band. Musical excellence is the goal of the Seneca Valley band program and these
fine musicians are continuing the tradition. We would like to also take this time to encourage other students to get private lessons and consider trying out for next year’s honors band. Set your sights high and go for it!!
Once again, Congratulations to the following students:

out with the operations of our
events…what an exceptional group of
volunteers! And of course a very spe-
cial thanks to all of you who bought,
sold and came out to support our
fundraising activities this year. I will
be providing a breakdown report of all
our activities at the January Booster
meeting, so everyone can see the re-
sults and appreciate all the hard work
and commitment you all provide to our
organization . We are working on
some exciting new initiatives for next
year…more on that also at the January
Booster meeting.

It’s time once again for the
PASTRIES by ANDREA fundraiser.
If you’ve done this before you
already know how happy you are
going to make peoples taste buds!
YUMMY doesn’t begin to describe the
Baklava (sweet, flaky, Greek/Syrian
pastry), Kolachi (large nut or apricot
roll), and Ladylocks (traditional puff
pasty with sweet cream filling) that
Andrea personally creates by hand
for us.
PASTRIES by ANDREA is helping
us in two ways. First, she will be at
our SV Christmas Concert on
December 4, 2014, selling her
wonderful pastries and donating 30%
to our general fund. This helps
everyone with the band trip and
expenses for the band. Second, if
you are interested in raising money
for your individual band trip account,
you can take orders in advance.
You’ll receive a flyer with instruc-
tions, and ordering is done online
now. Individual orders must be
submitted online by November 28, and
will be picked up at the Concert. There
are options to prepay or to pay the
night of pickup. The profit for the
individual sale is between $4 and $6 per
item, which goes into your individual
trip account. This is a great way to pay
for a nice chunk of your band trip!
This fundraiser takes place over the
Thanksgiving Holiday, so you should
have ample time to sell to friends,
neighbors and families. All items freeze
well, and the ladylocks are especially
tasty right out of the freezer!! (Thanks
to Mr. Chickness for that great tip!!) If
you have questions, please call Mrs.
Erin Scott at 724-772-7499 or email
[email protected]. Thanks,
and GOOD LUCK SELLING!!

If you are going on the trip and have
a food allergy you must submit that
information by email to Linda
O’Connor by January 15th. Plans
are being made now for meals. With
a group this size it takes a great deal
of planning. Mentioning an allergy at
the trip meeting is too late for special
accommodations to be made.
