An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the

glory of the Lord shone around them and they were

terried But the angel said to them Do not be

afraid I bring you good news of great joy that willbe for all the people Today in the town of David

a Savior has been born to you he is Christ the

Lord This will be a sign to you You will nd a baby

wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger Suddenly

a great company of the heavenly host appeared with

the angel praising God and saying Glory to God in

the highest and on earth peace to men on whom his

favor rests Luke 29-14

Merry Christmas from our home to yours You have

been chosen by the Lord to be the one to stand

in the gap for the healing and restoration of yourmarriage Praise the Lord nothing is too hard for

your Lord God May you be like Mary and willing

submit to your Lordrsquos will in your life We are praying

that during this Christmas season many prodigals

will listen to the Lordrsquos voice and go home Please

pray with us in agreement

Holy Spirit will pour on

you love joy and peace

as He empowers you to radiate the love of Jesus

to everyone you meet daily and especially for your

family May you use this

Christmas time as anevangelistic tool to share

the love of Jesus to many

around you Someone else

just may share with your

spouse and say Have a

Merry Christmas and go

home

We pray that you have

joined us in memorizing

scriptures as they will come to your remembrance

at the most perfect timing May we challenge youto read your Bible more this year In our bookstore

you in 2014 is that Godrsquos Holy Word will come alive

in a new way that will touch and deepen your walk

with the Lord

Merry Christmas



I have always been asked what it was like to be a prodigal during the holidays Each Christmas memoriesof what it was really like to be a prodigal have come back to me I want to share with you what it was likeat Christmas for a prodigal spouse in the pigpen of life

IT WAS LIKE BEING A TEENAGER - You experienced the exhilaration of coming in from a date yetknowing your father would not have approved only this time it was your Heavenly Fatherrsquos wrath thatyou feared

IT WAS LIKE BEING A PHONEY - When you sent out Christmas Cards with names such as spouseand children missing

IT WAS LIKE BEING UNWANTED - Everyone talked about being so busy and you had nothing reallyto do except to work and to survive all the time attempting to convince others how great your life hasbecome

IT WAS LIKE BEING CHEATED - Every one else saw their children in the Christmas programs andyou did not Your heart broke when you had to watch other kids in bathrobes wearing cotton beardsact out the Christmas story

IT WAS LIKE BEING AN OUTCAST - Wondering who if anyone would give you a Christmas giftwondering for whom you should buy a gift

IT WAS A TIME OF DREAD - You dreaded going into a store and hearing Christmas music Youdreaded going into the grocery and seeing all the holiday goodies displayed You dreaded havingpeople greet you with ldquoMerry Christmasrdquo In fact you dreaded Christmas

IT WAS A TIME OF ANGER - Angry at yourself for having gotten into this predicament but taking it outon everyone around (It was out of anger that I had my wedding band melted down and gave it to mywife as a Christmas gift Years later it is one of her favorite pieces of jewelry)

IT WAS A TIME OF SORE ARMS - As time and time again you reached for the phone to call homeand then backed out Countless cards and letters to home were started but tossed into the basket

IT WAS A TIME OF TRYING TO FIT IN - Friends accepted you in a different way without your spouse

You tried and tried but they were always so guarded when you were around especially with that ldquootherpersonrdquo

IT WAS A TIME OF DREAMS - You would awaken day after day and in a split second realize yourcovenant mate wasnrsquot lying next to you You realized it is Christmas and attempted to make the hurtgo away by dreaming about how grand Christmas would be next year Yes you dream that next yearyou will be happy but next year never comes

IT WAS A TIME OF HOPING - You realized that your only real hope was to be back home but thatseemed impossible By the way you also hoped that God was not watching

ABOVE ALL ELSE IT WAS A TIME OF REMEMBERING - A thousand things a day triggered thoughtsof Christmas memories at home You attempted so hard to counterfeit everything possible to make yourChristmas in the pig pen just like Christmas was at home Yet each time you tried a new counterfeitthe Holy Spirit of God would reveal His hand of truth and ldquocounterfeitrdquo rang out again

December 1985 in the pigpen was a time line for this prodigal On December 6 in a handwriting not recognizable

as my own I signed over custody of our three children I signed over our home took what was mine and set ou

to have a ldquoMerry Christmasrdquo but soon discovered that Christmas in the pig pen IS NOT ldquoMerryrdquo In Decembe

I moved from one pig pen to another I asked another woman for a date that month On Christmas Eve I wa

holding hands with someone other than my wife

My time line included two Christmas night phone calls One was from the other woman and one from Charlyne

Had the same things been said but the order of those calls been reversed our divorce might have been avoided

This Christmas when the Holy Spirit nudges you to reach out with unconditional love to a prodigal mate whom

the world is saying does not deserve your love I pray that you will follow the Lordrsquos leading The one you love has

discovered what Christmas is like in the pigpen They now need to discover the joy that Jesus Christ can provide

when a prodigal mate is home for Christmas Please do not give up standing and praying that in the Lordrsquos timing

that will happen MERRY CHRISTMAS

We prodigals tend to check the water before we dive back into ourmarriage The holidays are a time when that will be widespread

May you be prepared to allow the love of Christ to shine through

you whenever your prodigal spouse is around If you are not sincere

we prodigals can spot it from a mile away Once we determine that

our standing mate is for real the homecoming process has started

regardless of how long it takes for us to make the actual move

If your prodigal does not respond as you expect during the holidays or if they do

and then suddenly seem to pull further away afterwards rejoice because that is all

part of the process Become comfortable with Godrsquos timetable for your holidays
