Nobles and Ladies, this year is windingdown in a flurry of activ-ity. Time seems to haveflown by this year! We’ve

had Parades, Ceremonials, our Circus, Brunches,Dinners, Outreach Clinics, Barbeques, our AnnualCornFest, Margaritaville Night, Pote’s Ball, CigarNight and a slew of other fun reasons to get togetherto enjoy the World’s Greatest Philanthropy.

We still have a full schedule to round out theyear, filled to overflowing with Christmas Par-ties, OVs and Parades, so if you missed anearlier function, please try to come to theselatest offerings.

Thanks to all the Nobles and Ladies whoworked the Shrine Circus and supportedthe Circus Dads & Moms Program. Youmade it such a success. Many thanks to theParade Units and Clubs who brought their“toys” to display Saturday – they certainlyget lots of attention, don’t they? TheClowns Face Painting booth was full of chil-dren and adults getting painted and I saw ahuge variety of balloon items being enjoyed byeveryone. It’s wonderful seeing the smiles on thechildren’s faces when they come through the gate, some for the very first time at a Circus. And specialthanks to Circus Chairman Jack Garrett, PP, for allhis hard work getting your tickets into the hands ofneedy children Valley wide so they can share our joy.

We have many fine gentlemen running for var-ious Offices at the Shrine, so please remember tocome to the December 12th Stated Meeting to votefor your choice.

Speaking of Stated Meetings, I’ve gotten offVERY easy this year! I’m sure most of you areaware we’ve been listing names and member num-bers of two Nobles in each issue of the ArabianTales beginning with the February 2012 issue. Mychallenge was to find your name or number, con-

tact me & I’d buy you dinner that Stated Meet-ing. Well, so far I haven’t had to “pay up.” So

here’s my final challenge… find your nameor member number & let me know SOONor I get off Scot free on this! Each nameand member number is listed once eachin various locations around the maga-zine – sometimes upside down, some-times backwards (difficult to read, Iknow), sometimes both upside downAND backwards!

Lady Sandi and I would like to takethis moment to thank you for the honor

you bestowed in electing me Potentate ofEl Zaribah Shrine for 2012. It has given us

both many opportunities to make and renewfriendships we will cherish forever. We hope youall had as much fun as we did. Yours in the Faith, /h

Is Your Due Date

for the February

Issue of the

Arabian Tales

To the Divan of El Zaribah and all the new Officers ofour Units and Clubs - we wish only the best for the newlyElected Officers of our great philanthropy for the ensuingyear.

Again this holiday season, I remind our Shrine Familyto give gifts that are made right here in the good ol’ U.S.of A. If an item is available from our Arabian Tales adver-tisers, and/or a local vendor, even better. Please thinkabout gift certificates from our advertisers and local ven-dors to help our Arizona economy. Remember Friend toFriend, the $100 Million Dollar Club or our Helping HandFund.

An excellent gift could be to pay a person’s dues in theShrine, a Unit or Club, Blue Lodge, or any of the Masonicbodies. That also includes all our Ladies organizations.

We at the Arabian Tales wish everyone at happy andhealthy Holiday Season and Happy New Year!Fred Wulff, EditorBarb Cook, Typeset, Layout & Design Liz Treasure, Special Graphics Volunteer

How was that Chief Rabban Night last month? I guess if youmissed it, you’ll have to get the low downfrom the rumblings in the hall. Also, bythe time you read this we’ve had an out-standing OV. The Clowns wish to thankeveryone who helped plan and organizethe events of the evening. It was full offun, friendship, and holiday spirit.

At this time we’d like to thank the 2012 Clown line for all theirhard work and dedication to the Unit. The Clowns will be continu-ing the momentum with the 2013 line: President Keith “Lucky” Se-plak; Vice President Bill “U-Hoo” Enloe and Secretary/TreasurerJames “Hopeful” Jennings. Let’s all show our support and getpainted up to show the Temple and the public the face of ElZaribah.

If we don’t see you before 2013, please have a safe and happyHoliday Season. The El Zaribah Clowns

Culinary...

Hi Nobles. The Culinary Unit is plodding along, trying to keepthe food on the plates. As this is my first article for the Tales, please

bare with me. I’d like to thank RalphJones, our previous Secretary, for hisgreat service to our Unit and the Templeover the years. Hopefully he’ll still showup for meetings and to serve whenneeded.

We’d like to welcome Aaron Harris toour Unit; he really has no idea what he’s agreed to do! We’re al-ways on the lookout for new members. One of our chief sellingpoints is: When you stand on the back side of the serving table, noone’s going to spill beans or gravy on your thumb! We meet on the3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 in the Temple, so please stop byor simply tell one of us behind the serving line at any Unit Head orStated Meeting if you’d like to join.

We have an OV scheduled in December, along with a ChristmasParty, but as of now it’s on a need-to-know basis, and Hal is keep-ing it to himself as to when and with what other Units it’s planned. It may have to do with his going on a cruise around South Americawith his Lady Margie over the holidays.

We had a great time selling tickets at the Circus and met lots ofgreat people. The new venue and timing at WestWorld is a greatimprovement over the heat we’ve endured in the past.

I’d also like to thank all who showed up to cook and serve at theCIF Barbeque. I certainly hope you had fun. Too bad you didn’t getthe word it was cancelled in September!!!

The Director’s Staff is a uniquely rewarding Unit at El ZaribahShrine. You’ll recognize us by our famous RedCoveralls. We strive to have fun at the “Will andPleasure of the Potentate” as a truly working Unitof the Shrine at functions.

We assist in the new Noble’s journey intoShrinedom. At times, we participate in Shrine sanc-tioned Parades with our 6-man bike. We’re truly asilent strength of the Shrine.

So if you’re an able bodied man who aspires tohave fun while working for Shrinedom, we invite you to become amember of our Unit.

We meet the 4th Thursday of the month. If you have any ques-tions, please email [email protected].

Legion of honor...

Thanksgiving day, although a memory, is in our home the sig-nal to make a final check of all the light bulbs and when all appearsready, to turn on the switches bringingforth the illumination needed for all theChristmas decorations. What betterway to bring attention to and welcomethis, the month we celebrate the birthof Jesus Christ. It’s a wonderful time of year.

The Greeters have another fun month planned to round out theyear. Friday evening, Dec. 7th the date of the Greeters ChristmasParty OV by our Potentate, Illustrious Sir “Hut’ Hutson opens themonth. Once again, the hosting facility, The University Club inPhoenix, a beautiful location decorated with all the appropriate sea-sonal lights and ornaments, compliments the evening by providingthat glow of warmth and good cheer. All this, coupled with a gour-met menu, a nice gathering of friends and a bit of liquid refresh-ment… who could ask for more?

Unit Elections were recently held. Voted in as Unit Officers for2013 were Pres. Al Shattuck; 1st VP Lenny William; 2nd VP RogerHall, and Sec/Treas Chuck Richards. It’s nice to see that ChuckRichards didn‘t get “burned out” during his year as President andonce again has accepted a leadership position within the Unit. Thanks, Chuck.

I’m now going to interject something of a personal nature. I justwant to say a big THANK YOU to those members from within ourGreeters Unit who have, throughout this past year, taken that extratime and provided that extra effort in supporting our Unit. Your freetime, I know, is precious to each and every one of you. To give ofit in support of this Unit is commendable. It’s refreshing to onceagain see a large turn out at Unit meetings, a more than sufficientnumber of Greeters available at Stated Meetings for escort dutyand, believe it or not, on occasion, a full Greetermobile at Parades. The leadership provided by our Unit Officers this year has beensecond to none. I’m proud to be one of you.

All the members of the Greeters and their families wish each andevery one of you a most happy, healthy and Merry Christmas withgood thoughts being sent your way along with prayers and goodwishes for your New Year. Until next time…

Anthem Parade Marchers were Trundy, Hettervik, Rickard, Mc-Cullough and Johnston. With the Parade Trailer and vehicle wereJorgensen, LeClair and Wax driving.

The Legion of Honor had a Picnic at the beautiful Rio Vista Parkin Peoria on Nov. 4th that was very well attended and much muchfood and camaraderie. We should have brought carry out contain-ers. :-) John LeClair and the group organizing the Picnic did an out-standing job.

The Legion of Honor Unit consists of Nobles who have servedHonorably or are currently members of the Armed Forces of theirCountry. It’s an Honor to belong to the Legion of Honor Unit. Youserved your country and now have the opportunity to serve theShrine and have fun at the same time. We lead the El ZaribahShrine Parades, present the Colors at Stated meeting and variousother functions as requested by the Illustrious Sir.

Eligible Nobles and their Ladies are invited to check us out andattend our 6:00 pm dinner meeting held the 3rd Monday of themonth at the El Zaribah Auditorium. The business meeting is in theLOH Room at the El Zaribah Auditorium at 7:00 pm each monthexcept June, July and August. Scribe PC/Adj./Fin. Officer Virgil Johnston

We roll into Springerville 1/2 hour before sundown. My butt’snumb. The motel’s passable and the room smells chemically ster-

ile, but we’re hungry. Off we go acrossthe tiny town to the Mexican restaurant. Our group kind of overpowered theplace. Purple Jim mistakenly dipped hischip in the NoNo sauce. He didn’t do thattwice. They were probably happy to seeus go but were well paid for their trou-

bles. Lights out early for me and I slept like a stone. The sound of

some fool on a Harley woke me the next day. It was still dark forcrying out loud! Oops, the sun had been up for an hour - thoseblackout curtains sure work.

One big bad biker dude didn’t want to leave his warm cozy bed.The rest of us were amped up to start the run home. The breakfastplace had “home made buttermilk syrup” and the eggs were nes-tled in with the pancakes. That syrup was good. Definitely NOTlow calorie. The guys at my table were on a sugar buzz. Weneeded pit stops every 50 miles from the extra coffee.

Show Low was still nice. Hadn’t been there since a Parade 2years ago. Then we dropped off the Rim into Payson. The tem-perature was up another 20 degrees. It was a zoo - coming fromno-man’s-land to tourist heaven was shocking. There were bikesand campers curb to wall. One more gas up and we dove onto theBeeline Hwy. If the drop from Show Low to Payson was rated asunpleasant, the drop from Payson to Fountain Hills was downrightdepressing.

The day started out in leather and now I’m in shirtsleeves andSPF 30. Get on the 101 speedway, go with the traffic, and ride intothe sun toward home. Parked at the front door in triple digits minusone. I stumble in for water. The next day I move the bike with thecoating of BUG to the garage. The tripometer reads 654.

The pleasure of riding is experiencing the journey. You feel thehum of the machine, you taste the weather. The chill bites yourface, your nose surveys the scenery. You gaze on new things, youhear the road. My butt still hurts. Would I do it again? Not tomor-row, but you BYSA I would. You coming? Little Jim, Drill Team Member

Motorcycles Devil’s Loop 2...

Howdy folks. Hope this finds you and yours doing real good, andhope to keep it that way.

Well, another year’s winding down. We hada safe year and a lot of fun. Thanks to our Of-ficers and helpers. We did have one short-coming; our Fall Ride didn’t pan out too good.Because of that, the crowd is thinking aboutone ride next year, tentative date of April 4thto 7th. If that’s the case, make a special effortto make it, cause it WILL be a good one. As

you know, we count on that as our main moneymaker and ofcourse we’ve made a few good members from the attendees.

We were in the Anthem Veteran’s Day Parade Nov 10th. Hada pretty good showing from our members. Thanks to all who par-ticipated in honoring all who are serving, and who have served inour country’s military.

...uniformed units...

During November, the Patrol was active at the Anthem, Tempeand Winslow Parades. We alsosigned up 13 Nobles to work thethree days of the Circus. TwelveNobles and Ladies attended theJoint OV.

This past year can only be de-scribed as a great success for the Patrol, forgetting fanny bites…I’d like to personally thank all the members and Ladies for theirsupport and help. You made this year turn into not a “so-so” yearbut a fantastic year! You all worked very hard on events rangingfrom the St. Patty’s Day Dinner, the Bash Before the Pote’s Ball, table decorations for the Joint OV and the Shrine Circus. Thanksguys and gals, for making this year easy on Lady Sue and myself.

Lady Sue and I, along with all the Patrol Nobles and Ladies, wishyou and yours a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of HolidaySeasons. You deserve it. Father Floyd

We’ve been real busy recently doing whatwe love, participating in Parades and Cere-monials. In Lake Havasu, Bob played hismusette and danced thru the Parade routewith the camels. It was rumored they even fol-lowed him to the hospitality suite after the Pa-rade!

Once the Parade was over, a guest drum-mer (Sanford Wax) joined Bob to lead the Ritualistic Divan to theCeremonial site and played for the pleasure of the Potentate.

In Anthem, one of the camels (Jamal) wanted more music andjoined us in the Veteran’s Day Parade. There were a few timesJamal almost reached over and kissed Bob while he was playing(according to Bill).

In Tempe, we also participated in their Veteran’s Day Parade. No camels this time but lots of comments from the crowd aboutthe curly toed shoes. SC

The Temple Guard thanks all the Nobles for allowing the ChiefRabban to “feel the love” and respect of the Nobility. It was a greatnight for the Past Captain of the TempleGuard, Lt. Commander USN Retired, PopeyeStolze.

The Guardsman enjoyed providing nour-ishment for the Shriners working with Ill. SirJack Garrett at the Shrine Circus again thisyear. The fine planning by Art Nehill everyyear is greatly appreciated along with thequality help from the Greeters Unit.

As usual, the Guardsmen’s were at the monthly Clinic helpingthe Hospital Chairman, our Past Captain and Past Potentate Ill.Sir Jim Miller.

The Temple Guard congratulates all the new Nobles whoearned their Fez at Lake Havasu City this year. All of you shouldget interested and active with this great Temple.

The Temple Guard meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Joinus for a free dinner before the meeting and attend a worthy, light-hearted meeting following. We do a lot of work helping the Divanand Temple. From the Parades, Clinics, Spring Picnic, LadiesNight and the Circus, talk with us, have dinner and meet some fineNobles.

Transportation...

We’ve been busy this fall. We’ve been Parading virtually everyweek, traveling from one end of AZ to theother. Parades included Payson, ChinoValley and Congress, Kingman, Tomb-stone, Lake Havasu, Tempe twice, An-them, Winslow and a full slate of ChristmasLight Parades. Only 2 weekends havebeen idle since the last of September. Compliments to Jim Pittsfor keeping everything organized for our Unit.

It takes lots of effort to keep the little trucks in good conditionand on the road every week. Nothing’s better than putting a smileon a child’s face and we get to do that in so many ways, includingour Hospital Program. It makes you proud to be a Shriner.

We recently shared an evening with Ill. Sir Hut, the Divan,Clowns, Culinary and others in a Joint OV.

The Christmas season brings many opportunities for the littletrucks to put on the Christmas lights and participate in many LightParades. The crowds are different with a different level of enthu-siasm, but the smiles on the faces are the same and it’s very en-joyable. If you’d like to join us in any of the Parades, please contactJim or Phil for details. If we don’t see you at the Light Parades,we’ll see you at the Fiesta Bowl Parade. Let’s get out and showeveryone what we have. Yours in the Faith, PH

Experience the camaraderie of others interested in computers. We have several “Lab” computers you can practice on. A lot of goodinformation is presented at each of our meetings. Don’t be shyabout bringing your problems for us to study. Dumb questions don’texist, as the answer to a question that you might think dumb is whatone or more members wanted to ask but were shy or perhaps hada problem expressing. Sometimes the answer to your questionbrings questions in related areas from other members. In otherwords, please bring questions about computers and related soft-ware.

We spend little time with administrative action and most talkingor working with computers. If you have a computer problem thatrequires bringing in your computer, don’t hesitate to do that.

Plan to attend one of our meetings and bring software or hard-ware problems, or your expertise, which is always welcomed. Bringto the meeting misbehaving computers for our GURUS to evaluateand or work on. Virgil Johnston, Club Secretary

My time behind the door was going to be like no timebefore. Effort and toil expected, but not the heart ren-dering matters that must be met, assessed, choicesmade and actions taken - lest they still be matterstoday, worse for inaction.

I climbed in and out of so many different car doors Ican tell car makes by the sound of the their doors open-ing and closing, and each click/cha-chunk became anote in the meter on the roads traveled.

I walked though the creaking doors of Clinics to seeassessments being made and the heart rendering mat-ters that must be met, assessed, choices made and ac-tions taken - at a graver level than I faced, lest they stillbe matters today, worse for inaction.

I crossed the threshold of many aircraft and flewmore in the past year than in the prior ten. I remembereach and every bang cla-chunk of the cabin door clos-ing as we built bridges to new communities and se-cured the legacy of bridges built.

I’ve seen our children’s journeys, as they walk, limpor are wheeled through the wide electronic doors ofour hospitals. Within, they’re whisked through count-less doors - met, assessed, choices made and actionstaken - lest they still be matters today, worse for inac-tion.

I walked through the wide electronic doors of ourhospitals, more than I would have ever had the chance,no the privilege, to experience the great good that theorder has done and continues to do - without waver-ing, without complaint, without excuse.

I walked through the historic doors of our MasonicLodges and was refreshed again and again at the rootstrength and authenticity possessed by our men. Theunique ideal that slave or sultan, president or plumber, all meet on the level is still not only unique but is anideal to be illuminated such that this ideal burns everbrighter. I hope that my time on this side of the door has revivedold innate desires of our brothers to do more and toloosen the silken tassels on the purse of time, talentand treasury. I call upon you to hold open the doorsthrough which the light of others shall pass.

I, at this late date and hour, raise a heavy glass andproffer a toast. I fill the cup with the drink that clearsthe past of regrets and the future of fears. May we liveto drink deeply the drink that helps others, as it is nour-ishment for the roads traveled and thresholds crossed.

I will shortly walk out of my door, and it will be mydoor no longer. How blest is the time I have spent onthis side of the door. Once you have departed, you re-turn no more - it never was my door. /h

Well, the year’s coming to an end. We’d like to thank our outgoingPres. for his hard work. Also thanks to ourNobles from the Foothills Club. It’s nice tohave two Clubs in the same city; we can allwork together and help the KIDS.

We did the Veterans Day and Light Pa-rades, now we can get ready to kick off theNew Year and get thinking about the OV and

a very small Club and have to do some recycling, so we need all mem-bers to help out when they can. This time of year we have a lot of No-bles from up north who help us and we thank them for their support. We’re the nighttime Club - that is, our meetings are held in theevenings, so any of the Foothills guys are welcome to join us. We tryand keep it short and to the point.

Once again, thanks for everyone’s help. Let’s make this next yearjust as good. Yours In Faith, Dale

Hello again! Here’s what Job’s Daughters has been up to:The annual Miss AZ Job’s Daughter

pageant was held Sept. 8th. Although itdetermines the next Miss AZ Job’sDaughter, it also is one of the most funexperiences AZ Job’s Daughters has tooffer. We had 8 Daughters compete for

Junior Miss AZ Job’s Daughter and 3 compete for Miss AZ Job’sDaughter. Every participating Daughter enjoyed themselves! Ourpageant took place at El Zaribah Shrine and we extend a heartfeltthank you to El Zaribah Shrine for your support of our organization. As Miss AZ Job’s Daughter, I have decided to dedicate the year togrowing friendships and the ties we all share with each other. I’vebeen visiting many Bethel’s and a few other Masonic events. Aweek after pageant I attended the High Twelve Youth Luncheon, where they presented all three of the Masonic Youth Organizationswith a check. We’re always so grateful to receive the support ofour Masonic families, and it’s important to us to maintain a rela-tionship with our Masonic families.

October was a busy month for us, full of initiations and fund-rais-ers. The Bethel’s have all been working very hard, selling ticketsto breakfasts and dinners, and working on charitable fund-raisers.My Bethel and I just did a charity event with Ben’s Bells. We helpedthem paint beads for their bells and presented them with a check.

Bethel 22 had a wonderful breakfast fund-raiser, where they

For those who have an opportunity, I encourageyou to visit one of the Outreach Clinics to experience first-hand the re-markable work our hospitals are doing.

I’d also like to single out Barbara Hineman, Jane Sheldon, and DocHayes for all their assistance in our Telemedicine Program. We con-duct numerous Telemedicine appointments each month. These ap-pointments greatly reduce the strain on families by not requiring themto travel the long distances to the hospital for periodic checkups.

Finally, I’d like to thank those who individually donate to the ElZaribah Shrine Hospital Patient Transportation Fund. These donationsare greatly appreciated. Transporting our patients to and from the hos-pitals is a never-ending process and the generosity of all our Noblesand Ladies is required to ensure we meet the needs of our patients.

Thank you to all who give so much of their time, talent and meansto help our Shrine children. Happy Holidays from all of us in the Hos-pital Program. Jim Miller, PP, Hospital Chairman

Nobles of El Zaribah, the Mentorship Team of the El Zaribah Mem-bership Committee is looking for Nobles to serve as Mentors for Can-didates referred to us from the BeAShrinerNow.Com web site. You’llneed to register on Shriners Village as a virtual Mentor.

We’re also looking for Nobles around the State, active in their BlueLodges, to help our Mentorship Team when we have a Candidate in-terested in a Lodge in their area, to introduce them to the Lodge andbe a helping hand to their Mentor. This will be especially useful in out-lying areas of the state where we have Candidates.

Please contact Noble George Mather (480-254-5328) or email himat [email protected] if you’re interested in helping in either area.

Mentor Program...

Many thanks to all the Nobles for making the Temple look so wonder-ful in the Havasu, Anthem, Tempe, Winslow and Circus Parades. Our nextlarge challenge is the biggest of them all…The Fort McDowell Fiesta BowlParade December 29th. We started the planning quite a while ago. Theparking pass situation will be much better this year. As you’ve noticed, theinformation will continue to come to the Nobles as it’s received from thecommittee. We’ve addressed the concerns the parade committee men-tioned to us and will adjust our Units and Clubs participation to meet thoseconcerns.

Parade Chairman...

Your response with answers has been terrific all year. Keep informingus to “who and what” will be in this year’s Parade. If you’re asked “will yoube in the Parade” repeatedly, bear with us, because sometimes we use thesame large email list. If you’ve replied, just hit delete politely.

It’s difficult to express how great it is to witness such a large entry as theShriners travel along any Parade route, even when the Roadrunners arebanned from doing “wheelies” in Kingman. By the way, are you aware thatKingman was removed from the schedule next year? Make plans to goback to Pinetop next year.

All of you are the best in every Parade and it makes all of us proud towear El Zaribah on our Fez.

...Chief Medical Officer...

Shriners Hospitals for Children Pediatric Specialty Hospitals Douglas E. Maxwell, President and CEO

My Dear Fellow Representatives, in July of this year our VicePresident of Medical Affairs, Dr. Peter Armstrong, retired. TheJoint Boards set out to decide if our past medical direction wasthe right path to go in the future. In the interim, the Boards formeda “Physician Executive Team” to assist our Medical Affairs De-partment during the transition.

Dr. Kenneth Guidera, Chief of Staff of our Twin Cities Hospi-tal, was chosen as the Lead Doctor on the new Shriners Hospi-tals “Physician Executive Team.” His fellow team members areDr. Chip Iwinski, Chief of Staff of Lexington, Dr. Kit Song, Chiefof Staff of Los Angeles, and Dr. Richard Kagan, Chief of Staff ofCincinnati. Doctor Iwinski’s area of responsibility is for the accu-racies of our Medical Departments Information Systems en-deavors. Doctor Song’s area of responsibility is to assureShriners Hospital’s “Quality and Safety” methods, and DoctorKagan’s area of responsibility is for our “Burns Hospitals” issues.

The new directions this team has taken have been met withtremendous support from all of the Shriners Hospital’s physi-cians. We congratulate the entire team on their progress andleadership. At the just concluded Fall Board meeting of the JointBoards of Shiners Hospitals, a decision was made on a very keyleadership role for the “Home Office in Tampa”… that of the ChiefMedical Officer position. The “Physician Executive Team” willcontinue to exist and report to this new position of Chief MedicalOfficer (CMO).

The Boards are extremely pleased to announce that Dr. Ken-neth J. Guidera has been selected for this position. Dr. Guiderahas over 20 years of experience working in the Shriners Hospi-tals for Children organization. After initially being a volunteer sur-geon at our Tampa Hospital, he left his private practice to joinour healthcare system full time. He was soon promoted toTampa’s Assistant Chief of Staff and then in 2004, advanced tothe position of the Chief of Staff of the Twin Cities Hospital. Dr.Guidera served in the US Army in Korea and has participated inmedical missions in Haiti immediately after that devastatingearthquake, in Armenia, and missions for the Red Cross. Hisclinical interests are in the areas of spine and lower extremitysurgery. He is a member of several Medical Societies and in-volved with numerous Research Projects. Ken is also a Shrinerand an “Associate Member” of five Midwestern Temples.

With Dr. Guidera as our Chief Medical Officer, we will continuemoving forward in reconstituting the Medical Affairs Departmentwithin the Home Office and will continue to rebuild the functionsof the staff based on the new priorities and directions from ourJoint Boards. We all look forward to working with him in his newrole and supporting his vision for the future of our medical staffand our hospital system.

Please join the Joint Boards in welcoming our new “ChiefMedical Officer”, Dr. Kenneth Guidera.Yours in the Faith, Douglas Maxwell, Chairman of the Board of Trustees [email protected] Shriners Hospitals for Children
