Cuaderno del Padre Father’s Notebook

Greetings brother’s and sisters in Christ, We are a week away from Christmas now and lots of activity is

building up here at the parish. This week we will be decorating

the Church, if you have free time during the day and would like

to lend a hand Mon-Wed, please call the office or drop by to

help.

This past weekend, we started putting water back into the

Baptismal Font. Many have expressed the longing for the

return of Holy Water. Holy Water is not a Sacrament, but it is a

sacramental. In our Catholic Faith, there are many

sacramental that help faithful Christians grow in faith and

devotion.

“Among sacramentals blessings (of persons, meals, objects,

and places) come first. Every blessing praises God and prays

for his gifts. In Christ, Christians are blessed by God the Father

‘with every spiritual blessing’” (Catechism of the Catholic

Church, 1671).

These blessings are a beautiful prayer that when placed on

persons or objects, is the Church asking publically and

authoritatively in the name of Jesus Christ that the person or

object be protected from the power of the Evil One and to grant

blessings and graces to those who use it.

Another beautiful sacramental is the Rosary. A rosary can be

blessed and thus be a beautiful reminder of Gods’ love for us

and the gift of the Mother of God, Mary. But not only is the

rosary a powerful sacramental, but it is also a powerful prayer

that calls down blessings and graces from Jesus through Mary.

We must remember that all graces and blessings come from

God and all that is good is from Him. And when we pray, when

we use Holy Water, when we go to Mary with our intentions,

God uses these persons and things to spread his life and light

in the world.

Nevertheless, sacramental are not Sacraments. Sacraments

are outward signs, instituted by Christ, to give grace (divine

life). Our reception of the Eucharist, our reception of mercy in

the Confessional is always more powerful and more effective

than any sacramentals. But sacramentals help move our

hearts closer to Jesus and Mary so that when we come to the

Sacraments our hearts are disposed properly to receive his

grace and divine life.

You are in my prayers this week as we draw closer to the birth

of our Lord.

Pax Christi,

Fr. Khoi

bendiciones y gracias a quienes úselo.

Pax Christi,

Padre Khoi

LITURGY 101: FUNCTIONS OF THE PEOPLE OF GOD

“In the earthly liturgy we take part in a foretaste of that heavenly

liturgy which is celebrated in the holy city of Jerusalem toward

which we journey as pilgrims, where Christ is sitting at the right

hand of God, a minister of the holies and of the true tabernacle;

we sing a hymn to the Lord’s glory with all the warriors of the

heavenly army; venerating the memory of the saints, we hope for

some part and fellowship with them; we eagerly await the Savior,

Our Lord Jesus Christ, until He, our life, shall appear and we too

will appear with Him in glory.”

-Vatican Council II, Sacrosanctum Concilium 8

CCE COIN DRIVE — PUT OUT INTO THE DEEP

As most are aware, Most Holy Trinity will be involved in a Capital Campaign that will

raise funds towards a new discipleship building. As part of this campaign, children,

grades Kinder through 6th, will be asked to participate in our Put Out Into The

Deep Coin Drive as a stewardship project for our CCE students throughout this

year.

Students will be given a stewardship money bag and each week they are invited to

bring their coin offering to their classroom teacher. Students will be encouraged to

practice selfless giving in support of the church’s capital campaign in whatever

way they are able. Parents and students are encouraged to learn and pray the

"Put out into the Deep" prayer that Fr. Khoi has provided for all the members of the

Parish to pray and guide us as we begin our Campaign. We ask that you keep this

prayer at home and pray daily with your family just as we will be praying with the

children throughout the CCE year.

This will be a great stewardship opportunity for them to learn to give in support of

the needs of others and our Church.

BLESSING OF A CHRISTMAS MANGER OR NATIVITY SCENE

BLESSING CAN BE CONDUCTED BY ANY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY.

The leader prays with hands joined: “God of every nation and people, from the very

beginning of creation you have made manifest your love: when our need for a

Savior was great you sent your Son to be born of the Virgin Mary. To our lives he

brings joy and peace, justice, mercy, and love. Lord, bless all who look upon this

manger; may it remind us of the humble birth of Jesus, and raise our thoughts to

him, who is God-with-us and Savior of all, and who lives and reigns forever and

ever.

R/. Amen.

CHRISTMAS COMMEMORATIVE PAVER SPECIAL

Are you looking for a unique gift for someone on your Christmas list this

year, or would you like to commemorate the loss of a special someone?

Commemorative pavers for the patio at the entrance of the church are

available.

The pavers will be inscribed with the name or message of your choice.

The Christmas Special cost for each paver is $75.00 and will be in

effect December 1st through January 7th.

You are allowed 2 lines with no more than 16 characters per line (a

character includes commas, spaces, etc.). For more information, or for

help/suggestions on how to word your paver, call the parish office.

COLLECTION CHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT

First Collection

Now we are going to go back to passing the collection basket in the

manner we were doing before COVID. So, the ushers will be coming

forward at the offertory time and handing the basket for you to place

your donation and then pass to the next person in the pew where the

ushers will pick up at the end of the aisle.

We are only going to do this for the first collection.

Second Collection

We will still be using the drop box in the back for second collection

donations as usual where you can drop your second collection

envelopes or loose cash. If you wish to place your second collection

"envelopes" in the basket as it passes you can do that, but if you wish

to give in loose cash to the second collection, please drop that in the

drop box in the back.

Campaign Pledge Payments

The other slot of the drop box in the back will now be a place where

you can drop your pledge payments for the Put Out into The Deep

Campaign. Please be sure to clearly mark you campaign pledge

payments so that you receive proper credit. There are some envelopes

in the gathering space if you need, that you can put your pledge

payments in.

Building Development Fund Envelope

Also, some have asked about the Yellow, "Building Development Fund"

envelope that we have monthly as a second collection. That is not the

same as the Put Out into The Deep Pledge commitment. We will

continue to use that collection for ongoing building projects in the

Parish.

Thank you so much for your generosity!
