FUNDING ANNOUCEMENT ON FRIDAY
On Tuesday afternoon I received a call from Jackson Taylor MP for Bayswater,
notifying me that he would like to drop in this Friday at 1:30pm as he had a spe-
cial funding announcement for TBPS. Today I have been informed that Minister
Merlino will also be attending. Parents are most welcome to attend this special
assembly in our gymnasium.
THANKYOU FOR THE SPECIAL MORNING TEA
On behalf of the whole staff I would like to extend our thanks to those parents
who provided the staff with a special morning tea last week. The food was
amazing and lasted for a couple of days. It was a lovely gesture – THANKYOU!
APPOINTMENTS
It is with pleasure that I announce to our school community the appointment of
two new classroom teachers who will join us in 2020. Julianne Wilson has been
appointed to the position of the Literacy Learning Specialist and Nicole
Snelleksz to a classroom position. We extend a warm welcome to them both at
The Basin Primary School.
2020 SCHOOL CAPTAIN ANNOUCEMENT
Two Fridays ago, 12 amazing Grade 5 students delivered their school captain
speeches at the whole school assembly. Their speeches were well planned and
delivered and we are so very proud of them all. After the assembly all children
returned to their classrooms to vote along with the staff.
It is with great pleasure that I inform the school community that our School Cap-
tains for 2020 are Ruby Jeans and Jo Murrell. We met with all the Grade 5 stu-
dents last Monday to announce the result of the vote and every one of them
applauded Ruby and Jo – we were so impressed by the response of this amaz-
ing cohort of students. We are a school that acknowledges all our grade 6 stu-
dents as leaders and as such they all receive a leadership badge early 2020.
FINAL ASSEMBLY – THURSDAY 19th
DECEMBER
Our final assembly for the school year will commence at 1:45pm in the gymna-
sium on Thursday 19th December. This a special assembly where we will con-
gratulate our students on a fine year and present some awards. It is also the
last day for our Grade 6’s students who will commence their secondary educa-
tion in the New Year. Thursday’s assembly will be difficult for everyone – espe-
cially the Prep buddies!
Could I ask parents to collect their children from the new gymnasium/assembly
given the early finish! School staff maybe operating the two crossings closest
to the school if our crossing people are unavailable, to ensure people get
across the road safely.

PRINCIPAL’S NEWS
2020 STATIONARY PACKS
The children’s stationary packs have arrived and can be collected from the office at the time of paying the first
instalment of school fees.
ICT FEE EXPLAINED
We have been advised by the Department that the ICT (Information & Communication Technology) charge of $60 in our fee structure should be moved to the ‘voluntary’ section. We have always included the ICT fee as a contribution towards the annual lease payments for all notebooks, iPads and desktops that the children use throughout the school. It is also a contribution towards the annual licence fees of Mathletics, Soundwaves, Es-sential Assessment and Reading Eggs. This $60 fee does not cover the costs associated with all items listed above and without it we would not be able to provide as much as we do for the children in the area of ICT.
