    This performance evaluation is being written for Ali Hassani, Senior Medical Student at

    the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) located in St.

    Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. AUC is fully accredited per regulations of the U.S.Department of Education, in addition to specific approval/ recognition by the state

    medical boards of California, New York, Texas and Florida; and listed in the WorldDirectory of Medical Schools published by the World Health Organization (WHO). The

    Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine reviews AUC annually. TheNational Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation and the U.S.

    Department of Education recognize this body as having accreditation standards

    comparable to LCME.

    Unique Characteristics

    Mr. Ali Hassanis interest in medicine was first exemplified by his 2 years of volunteer

    work at UC Davis medical center in Davis, California, in Emergency Medicine and

    Pediatrics. Mr. Hassani also dedicated his time, which amounted to over 2000 hoursworking at his hometown family clinic, earning the Volunteer Service Award. As aNCAA athlete on the Davis Wrestling team, Mr. Hassani earned teaching recognition for

    Excellence in Fitness and furthered his knowledge in medicine by working as a teaching

    assistant in the Clinical Anatomy Department at UC Davis.

    While Mr. Hassani was completing courses in the basic sciences during medical school,

    he volunteered for Diabetes Screening at Simpson Bay, St. Maarten, part of the St.Maarten Health Fair, providing free healthcare to the population in need His research

    included projects on protein malabsorption in GRDS patients, as well as compiling case

    reports on adrenal myelolipoma and short nose reconstructive surgery. He is a member

    of the American Medical Student Association, the American College of Physicians ofInternal Medicine, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the Society of

    Academic Emergency Medicine.

    During his hospital rotations, Ali Hassani presented more than a dozen presentations on

    subjects including schizophrenia, prostate cancer, and tumor lysis syndrome. Mr.

    Hassani is also certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
