DECEMBER 2017 Happy holidays from the CBME Executive Team! It is fair to say that this year has been extraordinary at Queen’s School of Medicine, thanks to the efforts made by all of you, and your departments. We are happy to say that we’ve observed a vast increase in the number of assessments of residents under the CBME curriculum compared with the PGY1s last year, and most have experienced a successful transition thus far. As the calendar year comes to an end, it is again time for your annual CBME Program Evaluation interview. Interviews must be complete by January 31st, so if you have not booked yours yet, please have your PA follow up with Jen Railer [email protected]. The team is currently planning many Faculty Development initiatives for the 2018 calendar year, including two more CBME program leaders’ workshops. We’d like to ensure we are including topics and sessions relevant to you so please provide your thoughts and ideas to any member of the team, or to Jen Railer at any time. The February 6th Program Leaders’ workshop is taking shape and will include a keynote by Dr. Joan Sargeant. She will address the R2C2 feedback model in an applied workshop. We will also have a session on how to prepare for your accreditation visit, along with the usual MEdTech feedback and functionality sessions. The roles of the Academic Advisor and the Competence Committee will be explored deeper in the February 20th session exclusively for PDs and those in the role of an Academic Advisor and/or member of the Competence Committee. We ask that you have as many AAs and CC members reserve this date and attend the workshop as possible. Registration details are below. Queen’s Conference on CBME

November 8th & 9th, 2017

Almost 50 people attended the first Queen’s Conference on CBME, opened up to anyone external to Queen’s who would like to learn from Queen’s experience transitioning to a CBME curriculum.

The two-day conference was attended by physicians, administrators and CBD leads from across Canada and the world. The conference was well received and supported by many CBME Leads and Program directors willing to share their expertise with other institutions, along with support from the RCPSC and the featured keynote speaker, Rhonda St. Croix. Thanks to all of you who participated!
