The term 'faculty development' is commonly used to describe activities and programs designed to improve an

institution. It is a critical aspect of the Institute's multi-level activities. Several initiatives were taken to make

faculty members research oriented and better equipped-academicians.

The program started on 13 July 2015 with a panel discussion. Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Karwa, Campus Director,

JIET delivered a lecture on 'Teaching Methodology' and encouraged faculty members to learn a variety of

teaching methodologies in order to cater to the range of learning needs and requirements that are present within

most class environments. Prof. (Dr.) K. R Chowdhary, Campus Director, JIET SETG discussed experiences on

industrial training done by faculty members and he also took sessions on 'Information Retrieval' and 'Models for

teaching and learning Computer Science'. Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Gupta, Dean (Sciences) JIET shared his experiences

on 'The convergence of science and religion'. There was also a session with Prof. O. P. Vyas, Dean (Engineering)

JIET on 'Standardization- phase 2' of 'How to make a world class organisation'. He encouraged faculty members

to make the institution competent with the parameters of world class organizations. Prof. (Dr.) H. K. Bedi

focused on 'Depression - An issue at workplace' and also described the importance of behavioural activation in

recovery from depression. Dr. Sandeep Mehta, Dean (Engineering) SETG delivered a lecture on 'How to make

teaching profession a meaningful, enjoyable and satisfying experience'. For technical enhancement various

experts were called from institutions and industries. Prof. Gaurav Harit from IIT Jodhpur delivered an expert

lecture on 'Handling novel scenario in computer vision' and Ms. Pratibha Choudhary, an entrepreneur, delivered

a lecture on 'Cloud computing'. All the faculty members presented research papers according to their

specialization and also attended laboratory sessions to enhance their practical knowledge. Each of the faculty

members submitted a project proposal which they would like to work on with the help of students as a part of

their off-syllabus project.

INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROGRAM A three day industrial training for faculty members was organized as part of the faculty development program

which started on 2 July 2015. In this program, the faculty members were trained by companies like CG

Technosoft, Dreamteam, Unimedia, Reliablesoft and PaniPuri Soft. Basically this industrial training was

intended to understand the work culture in IT environment, gather tips to improve students' projects and

subsequently the campus placement.

Do your work honestly and do not fear taking risks but

yes take a 'calculated risk'. "Do not ever compromise on

quality. Never lose your self-confidence. Believe in

yourself and always stick to what you know."

These were never just words for me, I believed in myself

and my work. I started my career by giving technical

trainings with only 2 students and now I have my own

Training and IT Company named DHI Technologies.

Everybody told me that the competition in the field is back-breaking and I wouldn't stand any

chance in the market. But I had faith in my work to beat the odds. Since last 2 years my company

has developed 22 websites and 17 android applications, including 2 big Enterprise Resource

Planning (ERP) Software. I give training to at least 50-60 students every day. All this is not to say

that it's a very big achievement. But, for me, yes, it is what I wanted: DHI Technologies is growing

and I am growing with it as well.

Sometimes you don't even know what you like to do, until you try it. In my case, I was afraid of both

software coding and public speaking during my college days. Until 5th semester, I could not even

write a simple program in C language. And when it comes to speaking in public, I used to get sick

every time. Then, in the 6th semester, I started learning coding myself from the very beginning and

to my surprise, I developed interest in it. With 'persistent' working, I developed sharp skills in it and

this persistence in learning to code still continues in me.

I had never thought of becoming a trainer too, but, again to my surprise, that was the first thing I

did in my career. I knew my abilities of explaining things to others. So, I started my training career

with a batch of just 2 students and slowly the strength grew, all without any marketing. I have

always believed that the publicity of any teacher is the impression that he creates in the minds of

his students. After completing my first batch, I also got a chance to undertaken a one day training

workshop on 'Java Expertise' at the SLBS Engineering College before an audience of 200 students.

There in between the workshop, the Principal of
