Regarded across America and around the world as one of today’s finest concert organists, Todd Wilson is head of the organ department at The Cleveland Institute of Music, and Director of Music at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, he is curator

of the E.M. Skinner pipe organ at Severance Hall (home of the Cleveland Orchestra), and House Organist for Aeolian organ at the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens in Akron, Ohio. Wilson received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where he studied organ with Wayne Fisher. Further coaching in organ repertoire was with Russell Saunders at The Eastman School of Music. He has won numerous competitions, including the Grand Prix de Chartres (France) and the Ft. Wayne Competition. An active member of the American Guild of Organists, Wilson holds the Fellow and Choirmaster certificates. He has been a featured performer at numerous conventions of the American Guild of Organists, including the 1996 Centennial National Convention of the Guild in New York City, the 2008 National Convention of the Guild in Minneapolis-St. Paul, and at the 2012 Convention of the Guild in Nashville where he performed with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Wilson has been heard in concert in many major cities throughout the United States, Europe and Japan, including concerts at Symphony Hall (Birmingham, UK), Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall, Philadelphia’s Verizon Hall, Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, Cleveland’s Severance Hall, Dallas’ Meyerson Symphony Center and Uihlein Hall in Milwaukee. In June 2003 he dedicated the organ in the new 21,000-seat Mormon Conference Center in Salt Lake City; in October 2004 he performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra on the first orchestra subscription series concert featuring the new organ at Disney Hall in Los Angeles; and in January 2005 he performed his Japan debut recital in Tokyo. He has appeared as a solo recitalist for Austrian Radio in Vienna as well as in concert with the Slovakian Radio Symphony. Past orchestral appearances include performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, members of the Atlanta Symphony, the Nashville Symphony, the Naples Philharmonic (Fla.), the Calgary Philharmonic, City of London Sinfonia, the Canton Symphony, the New Mexico Symphony, the Ft. Worth Symphony, and the Orchestra at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. A sought-after adjudicator, Wilson has been a jury member for numerous national and international playing competitions. An active interest in improvisation has led to his popular improvised accompaniments to classic silent films.

M indy Ball began playing the harp at age 12, studying with Marjorie Call-Salzedo and receiving her degree in harp performance from Chapman University with honors. She also trained with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute Orchestra under distinguished

American conductor Leonard Bernstein. Currently celebrating her 38th year as principal harp with Pacific Symphony, she is also principal harp with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and has held principal positions with Opera Pacific and Pittsburgh Opera under John Mauceri. Ball performs regularly for major and international touring ballet companies and has recorded for film and television including PBS specials for Barry Manilow, American Ballet Theatre, NBC Movies of the Week, Superman and Batman cartoons, the video game Diablo III and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Other performances have included groups such as Aerosmith, Journey, Eagles, Cheryl Crow, B-52’s, Pink Martini, Paul McCartney and Johnny Mathis. For 12 years she performed for the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach and the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera. In addition, she has played for political dignitaries such as former presidents George H. W. Bush and Richard Nixon, and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. In 1993, Ball founded the Pacific Harp Ensemble and serves as director and current conductor. She also teaches harp at Biola, Chapman, Cal State Fullerton, Vanguard and Concordia universities, and is founding and past president of the Orange County chapter of the American Harp Society.

T imothy Landauer was hailed “a cellist of extraordinary gifts” by The New York Times when he won the coveted Concert Artists Guild International Award in 1983, New York. Landauer is the winner of numerous prestigious prizes and awards, among them the

Young Musicians Foundation’s National Gregor Piatigorsky Memorial Cello Award, the Samuel Applebaum Grand Prize of the National Solo Competition of the American String Teacher’s Association and the 1984 Hammer-Rostropovich Scholarship Award. Landauer’s extensive engagements include his highly acclaimed recitals at Carnegie Hall, the Ambassador Auditorium in Los Angeles, the Orford Arts Centre in Montreal, the City Hall Theatre in Hong Kong and in Hannover, Germany. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras across three continents: they include the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Taiwan National Symphony, the Beijing Symphony, and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. In the United States, Landauer has also appeared with the Maryland Symphony, the Grand Teton Festival Orchestra and Pacific Symphony. Landauer was the recipient of “The Outstanding Individual Artist Award 2004” presented by Arts Orange County. He is also an avid radio control modeler in the areas of fast electric boats and air crafts.

E lliott Moreau joined Pacific Symphony as second bassoonist in 2005. From 2006-08, he held the position of principal bassoon of Opera Pacific and in 2012, became a member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He has previously been a faculty member at Azusa

Pacific University and currently teaches at Vanguard University and UC Irvine. He is also a Pacific Symphony Class Act Teaching Artist and has his own private studio of bassoonists and jazz saxophonists. A native of San Diego, Moreau took up the saxophone at age 9, and began bassoon studies two years later with Arlen Fast, now of the New York Philharmonic. He studied both jazz saxophone and bassoon performance at DePaul University in Chicago, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He received his master’s degree in music from USC under the guidance of Stephen Maxym, former solo bassoonist of the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

B arry Perkins has been the principal trumpet of Pacific Symphony since 2004. Throughout his career, he has performed with many world-renowned orchestras, famous classical and jazz artists, as well as esteemed conductors. Perkins has performed on the world’s

most prestigious concert stages including those of Munich, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Lucerne, Hannover, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Essen and Vienna, as well as those of the United States. When he was in his early 20s, Perkins held the position of associate principal trumpet of the Mexico City Philharmonic for five years. Since then he has also performed with the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, Baltimore Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. As an active Hollywood studio musician, Perkins can be heard on numerous motion picture soundtracks including: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Peanuts, The Good Dinosaur, Concussion, Fantastic Four, Pixels, Minions, Big Hero 6, The Finest Hours, Monster Trucks, The Walk, Trumbo, Godzilla, Gone Girl, Avatar, The Amazing Spiderman 2, Blended, Agents of Shield (TV), The Interview, Frozen, Princess and the Frog and many more. Perkins is a member of the music faculty at California State University, Fullerton and founder of the Barry Perkins Trumpet Academy, which has reached hundreds of young musicians throughout Southern California.

R obert Slack joined Pacific Symphony’s percussion section in 1990, and became the principal percussionist in 1992. In addition, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Diego Symphony, Opera Pacific, the Long Beach Symphony and

in many ballet performances at the Los Angeles Music Center, the Kodak Theater and other LA venues. Major performances with ballet orchestras include the American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet of Russia, Royal Danish Ballet, Dance Theater of Harlem, Kirov Ballet and Miami Ballet. Broadway show productions include The Car Man, Annie, Evita, Fosse and others. Previously, Slack held positions as timpanist with the Nassau Symphony on Long Island and assistant principal timpanist/percussionist with the Naples, Florida Philharmonic. Slack received a bachelor of music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the Nation’s premier music conservatory. Slack received an Orchestral Fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, in 1989. He also performed and studied with Roland Kohlof, former principal timpanist of the New York Philharmonic, at the Waterloo Festival in New Jersey. During high school, Slack attended The Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division and studied extensively with New York Philharmonic Principal Percussionist Christopher Lamb at SUNY, Purchase.

B enjamin Smolen was appointed principal flutist of Pacific Symphony in September 2011, where he occupies the Valerie and Hans Imhof Chair. He has won top prizes at the Haynes International Flute Competition, James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition, National

Flute Association Young Artist Competition and New York Flute Club Young Artist Competition. He has given solo performances in Russia, Japan, Belgium, France and as concerto soloist with Pacific Symphony, Princeton University Orchestra, Charlotte Civic and Youth Orchestras, and Gardner Webb Symphony Orchestra. Smolen’s performances have been featured on NPR (Performance Today and From the Top), WGBH-Boston, WDAV-Charlotte, French National Radio, and the Naxos and Mode record labels. Additionally, he can be heard on the soundtracks for movies such as Monsters University, Planes, A Million Ways to Die in the West, Night at the Museum and the 2015 movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He recently released his debut album, Bach to Beaser, with guitarist Jerome Mouffe. Smolen studied at Princeton University, the Moscow Conservatory, the New England Conservatory and the University of Michigan. His primary teachers include Paula Robison, Michael Parloff and Aleksandr Golyshev. He is a William S. Haynes Artist and performs on a handmade, custom-crafted Haynes 14-karat gold flute.
