L’encaix entre l’ “Eco-Evo margalefiana” i noves perspectives evolutives a nivell de comunitat: l’estadi de la successió i l’oportunitat evolutiva.
Cesc Múrria, Departament d’Ecologia, Universitat de Barcelona
Ramon Margalef “successió i evolució”:
Ecosistema Organismes individuals

Ecosistema Organismes individuals
The Red Queen is a character by Lewis Carroll who famously said ‘It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place.’ Van Valen described a mechanism -> “Law of Constant Extinction”: taxa must constantly evolve to keep up with changes in their environments, which explicitly include other taxa, or go extinct.
An evolutionary ‘advance’ in a given environmental context by one taxon instantaneously produces a net negative effect of the same magnitude across other taxa in the same adaptive zone

SUCCESSIÓ ECOLÒGICA- ↓ respiració intrínseca -> ↑ mida corporal + longevitat- ↓ nombre descendents + ↑ protecció-↑ durada de la vida -> ↓reemplaçament + dispersió
- ↑ reproducció
- ↓ longevitat -> estructures de resistència + plasticitat fisiològica
- ↑ dispersió -> ↑ flux genètic - ↑ competició -> exclusió congenèrics -Integració bioquímica i de
compartament -> estabilitat- Evolució ràpida

Oruga-papallona)

Comparative phylogeographical studies in island archipelagos can reveal lineage-specific differential responses to the geological and climatic history.

Low over-sea dispersal ability in combination with increased habitat stability was found to enhance the propensity for speciation; while both flying capability and habitat instability appeared to maintain species cohesion across historical barriers. Only flightless geophilic tenebrionid lineages were shown to track the geological events.

Hypotheses:1. Species living in small lentic water bodies (short-term geological persistence of their habitat) -> ↑ dispersal ability and gene flow among populations, and ↓phylogeographicalstructure. 2. Lotic species (more geologically stable habitats) -> ↓ dispersal and ↑ phylogeographical structure at the samegeographical scales.

We examined patterns of species and genetic diversity of aquatic insect communities and their evolutionary history along the chytrid expansion gradient to elucidate potential community responses.
63 GMYC sp.202 cox1 haplotypes
29 GMYC sp90 cox1
42 GMYC sp104 cox1
14 GMYC sp30 cox1
63 GMYC202 cox1
~ 148 new species
Genomic approaches to characterizing bacterial communities are revealing significant differences in diversity and composition between environments.
Marine microbes diversity follows a seasonal fluctuation pattern with a reversed latitudinal gradient and the greatest richness in temperate latitudes in the winter.
2- daylength: short photoperiods -> ↑ richness
The 3 strongest predictors are:1- proximity to the thermocline, which reaches its greatest depth at temperate latitudes and in the winter
3- phosphate concentration
Traditionally ecology and evolutionary biology examine spatial patterns of biodiversity among communities and within species, respectively. There has been a recent surge of interest in studying these two types of pattern simultaneously -> can advance the above-stated goals and perhaps lead to entirely novel lines of inquiry.
Biodiversity - > genetic and phenotypic variation among individual organisms (the same or different species).
