As many of you may be visiting the city of Pelotas (Brazil) for the first time, we have prepared a Basic Guide on how to get to Pelotas from the Salgado Filho International Airport, in Porto Alegre City.

ü Can I travel by plane from Porto Alegre to Pelotas?

Yes, you can choose traveling by plane to Pelotas from Porto Alegre, but you'll spent one hour and a half in a journey at a cost of R$ 335,00 to R$ 470,00/ US$ 165,45 to US$ 232,13. If you choose traveling by coach bus, you'll spend at most three hours and a half, at a cost of R$ 41,90 / US$ 20,69.

ü At Salgado Filho International Airport

International flights arrive at Airport Terminal 1 http://migre.me/aXZhl.

In order to take the bus to Pelotas, you'll need to go to the Porto Alegre Bus Station (we say Rodoviária in Portuguese) after your arrival.

You'll be asked to make some payments in brazilian currency. You'll find a currency exchange bureau at Terminal 1 first floor. It's named “Casa de Câmbio Brasil” and its phone number is +55 53 3358-‐2384. IN BRAZIL THEY DON’T ACCEPT ANY OTHER MONEY.

There are two (02) options to get to the Porto Alegre Bus Station: by taxi or by metro.

• By taxi

a) Inside Terminal 1, you can hire a taxi by COTRAERO Cab Hire Service at a fixed price of R$ 30,00 / US$ 14,81 (prices for medium luggage).

b) Close to Terminal 1 exit, there is a fleet of taxis available. You can take a cab at prices around R$ 25,00 / US$ 12,34.

Distance to Porto Alegre Bus Station: around 10 km / Estimated time: 20-‐35 min


• By Metro

It's the faster and cheapest way to get to Porto Alegre Bus Station, but it’s not recommended for passengers carrying many baggages.

At Terminal 1, take the free bus of INFRAERO to Airport Terminal 2 (1 km away from Terminal 1). It’s an airport free service. Get off the bus at Terminal 2 and walk for 150 m to the metallic footbridge that leads to the Metro Station (named TRENSURB) right across the street. It’s a surface metro.

At the Trensurb Metro Station, by the ticket at R$ 1,70 / US$ 0,84. Make sure you choose destination MERCADO. Get off the train at RODOVIÁRIA Station (it’s the 3rd station starting from the airport).

ü Buying bus ticket from Porto Alegre to Pelotas

There are two (02) options to buy your travelling ticket:

• At the Airport

Inside Terminal 1, look for the Veppo ticket window. Attention, you will only be able to pay in cash.

• At the Porto Alegre Bus Station

Look for the booking office (series of ticket booths). Attention, you will only be able to pay in cash.
