Notes of appreciation
from authors to
peer reviewers
I wish I could say I'd submitted something for which I'd received peer review. Hope to this year! Thanks in advance to all those who volunteer their time to be peer reviewers!- Bonita Steele -
#DearReviewer
Thank you for your time
- Aarushi Gupta - Owner: Shri Aarushi; Director: Pulse
Care
Peer reviewers spend a lot of time analyzing the work of intellectuals, professionals, and other high-esteemed writers. This is because they provide insights into their work to indicate the positives and the negatives. Writers could be opinionated or averse to criticism. Peer reviewers, by not thinking about the identity of either party, give unbiased views about the text as they follow a strict code to comment on manuscripts. I really appreciate the work of peer reviewers for this reason. Hats off to them!
Hats off to you!
I really thank reviewers and experts. With limited data, they make me stand tall and look further for the science in my field! This aids my personal advancement!
- Zhang Weiqiang -
You help me develop further
Where do I begin? probably there is no word to describe a reviewer. This might be unorthodox, but in my opinion, most of the reviewers are like BATMAN. You don't know who they are but they make a big change in the academic world. To all of you - thank you for spending your personal time to make the world a better place.
#my real superhero - Ebrahim Mahmoudi –

You are #myrealsuperhero In the process of paper
publication, peer reviewers are area experts and play an important role in order to represent the content in a well mannered way. Sometimes they help to author to identify overlooked ideas which can be incorporated in the text to make it more easily accessible and re-presentable. Reviewers help authors revise text by way of corrections and suggestions, which make the content strong and precise.
You are an expert!

#DearReviewer
I would like to thank the lovely reviewer who has sent me a 4 page report, comments, questions, and recommendations when rejecting my manuscript. I appreciate the valuable time s/he spent while assessing my work. I am grateful for the work they do; nevertheless, I am terrified of them as I am coming to the end of my PhD and I have yet to publish my work thanks to a very strict and harsh assessment..... please be more kind when you next assess my manuscript please!
Thank you for the 4-page report
- Dastan Khalid -Department of Physics, College of Education,
Old Campus, University of Sulaiman, Iraq
Academic publishing system wouldn’t even exist without you!! Thank you very much.

Thank you very much!
You made me a better medical writer
As a published author and peer reviewer myself, I do appreciate the work of peer reviewers in reaching a decision regarding a manuscript, even if it recommends rejection of the manuscript. Thank you, reviewers, for reviewing my manuscripts and helping me become a better medical writer.

#DearReviewer
Where would science be without you?
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the peer-reviewers for their hard work. I have done some peer reviews myself and it is always a great challenge to undertake. It implies giving time away that can reduce your productivity; nevertheless, it is an essential activity for science. You don't get recognition and you don't get paid, and it seems like it is pretty much a bad deal for the reviewer! Nevertheless, where would science be without it? It is the commitment from the reviewers that keep science going! I really want to thank all peer reviewers for their hard and unconditional work! We may get frustrated when we get the reviews, but I doubt that anyone can say that the reviews have not contributed to make their research better... well, Einstein did it, and many years later he regretted it and apologized for it, since he recognized that the peer review he despised was correct. Thanks to all the peer reviewers!!!

Perhaps the thoughts of rejected manuscripts come quickly to mind when peer reviewers are mentioned; but that's not all they do. Peer reviewing is about ensuring/adding value. As skilled gate-keepers, peer reviewers hold researchers accountable to high ideals; bringing their findings to detailed scrutiny. This they do without much reward, ensuring the public is offered what is reliable and valid. There is no doubt a need to improve the peer reviewing process and perhaps, relax the gate keeping process. However, there are gains we have achieved through this process. These we can choose to celebrate. - Kenneth Yakubu -
Consultant Family Physician, Jos University Teaching Hospital, and Lecturer, Department of Family
Medicine , University of Jos, Nigeria
You add value!I thank each every reviewers who reviewed my paper. I hope scientific system will be more and more structured and everyone's scientific output get better and better!
- Zhang Weiqiang -

As a scientific editor who deals
with many peer-review processes,
I truly appreciate having clear,
thoughtful comments from
reviewers that unpack a paper
properly and allow its full benefit
to be realised. Their efforts in
untangling a complex topic are a
godsend when one is not
particularly familiar with a subject.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Everyone has their own little ways of life, sometimes right, sometimes wrong. I thank you all for taking time off and reviewing all of my views. Because sometimes, a dual perspective in life helps like nothing else

Over the last thirty years I have published over a hundred research communications in a number of peer reviewed journals. In each case the comments of the reviewers have helped me brush up the manuscript to make it more readable and my arguments more justified to focus on the hypothesis. These comments gave clarity to my thoughts and in refining methodologies. I am deeply indebted to all my anonymous reviewers.
May I use this medium to
give my heartfelt gratitude for all the time and efforts
you put in to review massive
loads of researchers articles,
research works and the likes
of it. On behalf of the world of authors, I express our
heartfelt gratitude to you
unreservedly. It is my prayer,
that God will help you in all your heartfelt desires
henceforth in Jesus name.
You helped me during my PhD
- Tahir Mahmood - PhD, Animal Nutrition
I believe the reviewers do a commendable but thankless job. I have a personal experience of my own research papers. As these research papers were part of my PhD research, the critical evaluation by reviewers helped a great deal to improve my PhD thesis ultimately. Thus, I really appreciate the role and impact reviewers have on published research.
#DearReviewer
I appreciate peer reviews, they bring pain, training and joy. It's all a mixture of what life truly is. This training is only possible because of the efforts of some people. We just say 'reviewers', yet these are individuals with life responsibilities and demands, who go out of their way to make publishing worthwhile. And what's more, they are mostly not rewarded for this noble cause!
- Olubusola Johnson -Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria
You bring pain, training, and joy!
I just want to say thank you to all peer reviewers out there...even though authors do not always agree with you! And yes, we know that you, too, are individuals with your own opinions! The academic publishing world needs you more than ever before! Thank you!
#DearReviewer
When I first submitted to Nuclear Engineering and Technology, the reviewer comments were totally beyond my expectations. They were so detail, from word spelling to the exact meaning of some technical terms, paper title, sentence structure and even the important observation as well as supporting material, reviewers gave very object and professional comments. Revision not only make the paper quality improved, but also benefited my writing skill in the future. I sincerely thank reviewers. How carefully they read our paper is probably more than myself. I reply their comments in detail and learn from it. I think I will keep improving my research and

Wang Xiaodong said this before,
"Scientific research is peeping God's
work." It is definitely a journey with a
lot of trial and error since we are using
human power to know God. How to
avoid getting on wrong road?
Reviewers' harsh comments are bitter
medicine, taste bad, but good for body.
It is a treasure to avoid mistake and
see God's work.
Your comments are a treasure
Thank every reviewer's affirmation and pointing out problem to authors' work. Every manuscript published by us requires your efforts and contribution. In fact, I am also a reviewer for many journals. I know the importance of review work. You have to read one paper several times, and spend one to two weeks time to understand a paper thoroughly, then you are qualified to review a paper and arrive conclusion...

I loved to hate you
- Dr. Sudhir Kumar –
My first reaction was: “How dare
you evaluate me? Who are you to
assess the quality of my work? I
know better than you.” Honestly,
though, I loved to hate you. Then
the clinical thinking transformed
hatred into love when I found my
final product refined, sparkling and
rich. Many many thanks.
We are grateful to you for the
critical comments and useful
suggestions that have helped us
to improve our paper considerably. Authors would like
to pass their great acknowledgement to the Reviewer for his valuable
comments, which make the
paper more convenient.
You make publishing more
convenient
Peer Reviewers are doing a wonderful and thankless academic jobs. Personally I wish to use this medium to appreciate them and their contributions to academic development
You are doing a wonderful job

#DearReviewer
You are awesome
Reviewers give feedback and
suggestion from various perspectives.
They have more comprehensive
thinking so that comments can
improve paper content, level up the
paper. Give them a "awesome"!- Chen Yiqiu -
Thank you for your comments
My paper was recently accepted after
the 3-round peer review. I am very
thankful for the peer reviewers. A
number of useful, polite, constructive
advices made my paper much better. I
spent my effort for revising work per
the comments by many-fold than
writing the original manuscript. During
the revision process, I have learned
many things. I can't thank you enough
for giving me the good opportunity to
learn. - Anonymous author -
I learned many things
Thank all the reviewer comments. If comments are hurting, it means reviewer read your paper carefully. I don't like reviewer who only says "no novelty" and reject paper. - Anonymous author -
#DearReviewer
Honestly, the moment I receive the reviewer's reports I think che palle!, and I repeat this for the whole day, possibly with the company of my co-authors. Then, after a while, I can recognize that some remarks are useful... let's say I'd offer a beer to a few reviewers ;-)” [“che palle” is some slang meaning “it sucks”] - Anonymous author –
I’d offer you a beer!
I agree that peer reviewing is a thankless job. If not for them, we authors who are most of the time thinking that we know everything and a third party reader will surely understand our perspective, we would be lost totally. Though they are painful to tolerate, nevertheless a carbon needs to be polished to shine.....I thank all those who do this job, for they are the most needed to keep us grounded and tell us there is no perfection in science...It is just attempts to gain perfection.. Kudos to the charisma that we love to hate so much....
Kudos to you!
- Dr Shrikanth Muralidharan –
Senior lecturer, MA Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences and Research Center India

Science needs youIn life people do the same thing for different reasons. I do not think a scientist would be angry when he receives some good advices to correct some mistakes or for any reason to improve a manuscript if its reason was to bring a pure knowledge. May be a philosopher or a religious person does not need a peer reviewer, but we need you in science to keep helping us protect our interest in science.- Enock Balthazar –
Medical school, University of Buenos Aires
Reviewers teach you how to do researchI always think manuscript is a way of communication. I can advance my understanding about the problem through communicating with reviewers. This is also a transition of scientific skill. Reviewers teach you how to do research when they comment on your paper.- Lu Xinyu –
Thank you!
Thank reviewer's work on
paper which makes our
point more precisely.
- Zhou Peiwen –

Reviewers really deserve appreciation for their job. Quality reviewing without any payment is sometimes tedious but a great service to science and ultimately to humanity. Although there is no reward in the form of money, but there is reward for the future generations in the form of quality knowledge and products.
- Dr. Muhammad Shahid – Assistant Professor, Department of
Bioinformatics & Biotechnology, G.C. University, Faisalabad
You deserve appreciation
Many thanks for giving me more comments in my manuscripts. Because of your suggestions, most of my manuscripts could be accepted by the journal I submitted them to last year. I really appreciate you for your help. In the past, from peer reviewers, I really had the good opportunity to learn how to write a correct and good manuscript in English, and how to express the abstract and conclusion sections that are most hard to write. I really learn more information from you.
You taught me manuscript writing

You shape manuscripts
An honest appraisal
- Anonymous author –
- Dr.R.Mala – Associate Professor, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, SivaKasi, India
Peer review shapes the article in a different dimension. It improves the article in many ways. Certainly, the author is benefited by the peer review process. It totally perfects the author while writing the next article. At one point, the comments will be less and immediately the paper will be accepted. All reviewers should be acknowledged for their great service to the academic field.
I have appreciated reviewers
for giving me great suggestions that helped me to
drastically improve my papers,
for pointing me to important
work, and for fairly considering
the strengths and weaknesses
of my work in their decision. I
have despised reviewers for
reading my papers hastily, for
being overly opinionated in
their criticism, and for ignoring
my rebuttal in their final decision.
Your comments are objective
- Anonymous author -
I always respect review comments. Most of
review comments are objective. Even though
there may be conflict, paper still can get
accepted after revision. It shows the tolerant
nature of academia. Especially some experts
can accurately point out the problem in paper, I
learn a lot during revising paper.
#DearReviewer
Without you the system is incomplete
Peer reviewers play a great role in academic writing. Without them this system is incomplete. I really appreciate all of them to participate in academic writing and publishing system. And thanks to all reviewers for helping in the advancement to the related fields.
- Sikander Shirazi –
Peer review is an important part of manuscript acceptance which gives more worthiness to manuscripts. This will not be possible without untiring efforts of reviewers. It is true that some reviewers' comments might be frustrating and disappointing but the comments, at the end of the day, improve the quality of the manuscript and allow authors to learn more about academic writing. Reviewers efforts are hereby appreciated immensely. - Mukadas O. Akindele –
Senior Lecturer and Honorary Physiotherapist, Department of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Medicine, Bayero University, Nigeria
Your efforts are appreciated immensely

I have great honour and respect for reviewers
because their views and scientific comments
based on their depth knowledge shape
manuscripts to a higher level, making it more
sound and comprehensive to a wider readership.
For this reason, I am very glad and want to send
my gratitude for your efforts to recognize their
work by celebrating international peer review
week. - G.E.Kebede –
I honor and respect
youOur paper is stronger
We just finished revising a paper in response to three peer reviews that were clear, well-reasoned, and
thoughtful, and our paper is undoubtedly much stronger as a result. I definitely appreciate those peer reviewers.
- Anonymous author - Thank you for your effortsI often tend to make complaint to peer reviewers, but I thank them for their big effort. It is admirable to know that academic publishing system is kept by such volunteer spirit. Your continuous support would be highly appreciated. - Anonymous author -

You are like a good friend
- Omar Pandoli -Pontificia Universidade Católica; Departamento de
Química, Rio de Janeiro
"I really thank all my reviewers for a good job offered to me all the time I argued them to improve my scientific work. A good reviewer is a good friend able to listen and to read your scientific work. If he is a good leader , he will be interested to suggest how to follow a way to improve your work and found out new interesting results. Always, we should keep in mind that every work never is totally completed. Every new results can open new curiosities and new questions. A good friend/review understand your progress and accept new doubts to support your research."
