Hound Dear Parents/Carers,
This year our pupils and parents have raised a tremendous £1,000 for charity, and £12,500 through Parent
Council events. In addition I’m delighted to announce that in only one year and nine months our generous
parents have donated an additional £3,600 to enhance our children’s schooling experience. The Parent
Donations fund was established in September 2013. It has charitable status and is specifically designed to provide
the best learning experience and environment for pupils at the school. The fund gives all parents the opportunity
to contribute directly and effectively to the education of their children. Donations can be made in two ways via
Gift Aid – either by a monthly standing order or by a single donation which will qualify for tax relief via our
website https://www.justgiving.com/bolingbroke/.
We are very grateful for the contributions and support received from the parent body. The Parent Donations
Fund has enabled the school to expand our learning resources in the library and after half term we will be adding
200 lockers to enable pupils to lock their PE bag during the school day. Two of our Year 8 pupils were able to
test the sample and gave it their seal of approval. Therefore in June the pupils will still have access to a Coat
Cloakroom and for those who have PE they will be able to access lockers for their plain black PE bag (no brand-
ing) or Bolingbroke Academy draw string or rucksack bag.
On Wednesday evening we listened to our wonderful pupils play a wide variety of music from Beethoven on
guitar to Jack the Lad on clarinet. Congratulations to all the pupils who participated. We are so proud of your
achievements this term.
Next half term I will write my last issue of the Courageous Hound before commencing my maternity leave. I
know Mr Speight will be a terrific Acting Principal in my absence and I look forward to seeing you all again in the
latter half of the autumn term. From Tuesday 2nd June there will be a two week transition period and on Friday
15th June I will formally commence my maternity leave and say farewell to the pupils, parents and staff.
I would like to wish you all a relaxing and restful half term holiday.

This week 20 pupils had the opportunity to create and film our new Class of 2022 film for our prospective
parents and pupils. All pupils played their part brilliantly whether it was operating a camera, sound, directing
or scripting their part or interview.

WANDSWORTH SCHOOLS ATHLETICS QUALIFIERS
MILLENIUM ARENA
By Mr Brookes
On Wednesday May 13th Bolingbroke Academy competed in the
Wandsworth Schools Athletics competition to place some of our top
athletes against the best schools in the borough, with the hope of qualifying
for a place in the London School Games Finals.
There was fierce competition from neighbouring schools with Kaijuan
Henry, Kai Providence, Dontay Burke-Wallace, Jack Dakin, Scarlett
McGill and Jade Rostron-Smith putting friendships aside to each place
within the top 3 of their heats.
Kaijuan Henry and Kai Providence both reached the Year 7 Boys 100m
final whilst Dontay Burke-Burke Wallace reached the 200m final.
Scarlett McGill competed well in the Discus and Jade Rostron-Smith
was piped to place in her 200m race.
Yahya Miah took to the 75m hurdles naturally, placing 3rd in his heat, narrowly missing out on the second place
that would have got him into the final with stiff competition. Whilst Tanisha Addicott took on the girls hurdles,
successfully reaching the final in which she finished 4th overall.
Bolingbroke return with medals and have secured two places at the London School
Games. Sunny Balogun returned having claimed bronze medal in the discus - 3
fantastic throws saw him oust local rivals ARK Putney, Southfields and Ernest Bevin.
Our engine man Zayd Addicott breezed through his race to claim gold and secure a
place in the 1500m boys London School Games final achieving an astounding finish time
of 4 minutes and 54 seconds. Success in the 1500m continued as Joel Rooney won
his race comfortably too and claimed a spot at the London Finals, a huge
congratulations to them both!
