Dear Parents of ACG School Jakarta,
As we are all aware, being in an international school brings with it immeasurable opportunities for the children to learn. It also has the unfortunate aspect of friends and teachers changing over the years. With this in mind, I would like to announce that the following staff will be leaving ACG School Jakarta at the end of this academic year.
Dr Stuart Tasker, Principal
Mr Dan Gittins, English
Ms Febriana Tanudjaja, Year 1
Mr Rob Moors, IT and Global Perspectives
Ms Caoimhe Buckley, Year 6
Mr Graeme Foster, Mathematics and Theory of Knowledge
Ms Rebecca Donaldson, Year 2
I have been able to make quality appointments for all the teachers who are moving on to new endeavours and I will introduce the new staff in the next newsletter. ACG Group have also been actively recruiting for a new Principal, with an announcement to be made soon.
Kind regards,
Dr Stuart Tasker
Principal
ACG School Jakarta’s Primary Literacy Week was hugely successful. The Read-a-thon was an event where students looked for sponsors for reading. Winners were chosen based on 2 categories; most amount of time read and most amount of money raised.
The total raised was IDR 21,098,100, which was used to purchase reading books in Bahasa Indonesia. The books were donated to Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul Muttaqin in Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu on 28 February by 3 Foster and on 6 March, 4 Quigley was chosen to deliver books to Kampung Kids and read with their pre-school students.
Upcoming Coffee Mornings
The PYP Self-study, 9.00 to 9.30am on Friday 6 April
Cyber Safety, 9.00 to 9.30am on Friday 27 April
Year 6 Camp
The Year 6 students had a fantastic time on their trip to Jogjakarta. They explored
the transdisciplinary theme ‘How we express ourselves’ through numerous
experiences including cultural music and dance, viewing artwork from the famous
Indonesian artist Affandi, visiting the Palace of Jogjakarta and visiting Borobudur.
These learning experiences provided those who attended inspiration for their
upcoming Year 6 PYP Exhibition.
Year 3 enjoyed an awesome sleepover in the library this term. It involved a fun filled day which involved a trip to Pejaten Village mall. At
the mall the students experienced making their own pizza and followed a scavenger hunt to find a variety of inventions, before exercising
their vocal cords at Karaoke. Back in school, Year 12 and 13 students took charge and ran an assortment of activities; cup stacking,
treasure hunting, sports, Mathematics and crafts. Year 3 students chopped, sliced, grated and mixed their own spaghetti, garlic bread and
salad dinner, before writing their diaries and sleeping soundly in the library.

Upcoming Parent Education Sessions
Numeracy in the PYP, 8.15 to 9.15am on Thursday 12 April
Transition to Secondary and the 7 to 9 Curriculum, 8.15 to 9.15am on Wednesday 16 May
Each day started with some interesting music being played through our public address system, there were small performances at break and lunch times during the week and guest speakers came to talk to Secondary students about music performance and potential pathways on Friday morning.
Music Week
M - Music: During the afternoon there was a band from each of the school Houses performing. They each had to have specific instruments and membership with the song to be about the colour of the House. They were all very good.
A – Art: Artwork was on display outside the gymnasium and the IB Diploma Programme Visual Arts and IGCSE Art & Design students had their works exhibited inside the gymnasium. These students also spoke individually during the afternoon about their motivation for their art.
D – Drama: All of the Year 7 to 9 students performed pieces which they had been working on in their Drama classes. Even the IB Diploma Programme and A Level Literature students wanted to perform they did a reworked ending to A View From the Bridge, which was written by one of the students (well done Toby!).
Primary students sang their hearts out at the Primary Concert! This year’s theme was "Voices of The Children” and the event displayed voice renditions of famous musical pieces ranging from "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" (The Wizard of Oz) to the recent "This Is Me" (The Greatest Showman), alongside hits from Pop Music such as "I Believe I Can Fly" and "Fight Song." All Primary students, from the youngest in K3 to the eldest in Year 6, were able to showcase their confidence, enthusiasm, and musicianship from the beginning of the rehearsal process down to the last beat of the finale.

Learner Profile of the Month
On March 7 our Primary students cooled off in the pool for the Primary House Swimming Carnival. We were so impressed by the students, willingness to try their best and also to hear such enthusiastic cheering for their House. There were not only individual swimming races, but also team games and fun activities. They had a castle war, leaking pipe, balloon toss, monster ball, finding dory and exciting boat races. It was also great to see teachers joining the races. Well done to Cicak for ending as champions this year! Kindergarten had their own special event on Tuesday 13 March.
On Friday 2 March Year 5 went to NJIS for the JASIS STEM challenge. The students got to make their own slime, design their own boats
from recycled materials, as well as engage in a paper airplane and hovercraft challenge. The students all remarked how fun it was to
compete and use all their extensive scientific knowledge from our How the world works Unit Of Inquiry.

March: Thinker
Students apply critical and creative
thinking skills when solving complex
problems. They take responsible action
and exercise initiative to make reasoned,
ethical decisions. How did you work to
independently solve problems this
month?
April: Balanced
Balanced students understand the im-portance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others. They recognize their interdependence with other people and the world in which we live. What area of your life needs some balance?
