Dear Malcolm Letter

Dear Professor Campbell, Stubborn, caring, and ridiculous are usually the three adjectives people use to describe me. I have the hardest head of anyone you will ever meet; I never give into arguments and I rarely admit that I am wrong (because I am always right.) I suppose this comes from the long line of lawyers in my family; people say that we could all argue with a brick wall and still believe we could win. Family is one on the most important things to me and without them I know I wouldn’t be the strong and independent person I am today. This is my younger brother and partner in crime, Guy, and my mom. Since coming to college my brother and I have grown even closer than we were. He is also the one that crowned me with my nickname Max. I call them both almost everyday. My mother is the one that has inspired me to become a nurse. She went back to school when I was 12 to become and RN and since then I knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. Many of my friends will say I am the “mom of the group” because I am always worried for them or taking care of them when they are hurt or sick. I used to hate this title but I have now grown to love it. This is an important trait when aspiring to be a nurse and I am more than happy to be labeled with it. I have decided recently that I am interesting in pursuing anesthesiology as a specialty. After job shadowing many nurse anesthetists this summer I have become more and more interested in the profession. My friends are also a a very important part of my life. Family is one on the most important things to me and

without them I know I wouldn’t be the strong and independent person I am today.

I have

decided recently that I am interesting in pursuing anesthesiology as a specialty. After job shadowing many nurse anesthetists this summer I have become more and more interested in the profession.

My friends are also a a very important part of my life. They keep me sane by being my support now that I am living away from my family. My roommate is a friend from high school and since rooming together we have become even closer—hardly ever leaving each others side. When she and I are together you could say we are a little ridiculous. We love all Disney movies (especially Frozen—yes I have joined that bandwagon), have intense Mario Kart battles, and binge watch Grey’s Anatomy every Thursday night. We play Taylor Swift way too loud and play (probably very dangerous) pranks on each other.

My other best friend just happens to be my boyfriend. We have been dating for almost two years and he just so happened to have had you as a teacher last semester (he insisted that I take your class.) We meet while working at the local grocery store together back home in Apex.

I have worked since I was 12 so I have never had much ‘free time’. I have done everything from babysitting, cashier at a grocery store, retail manager at a chocolate factory, nanning, and currently I work at the campus bookstore. I have always believed it is very important for people my age to work; I feel that it builds a sense of responsibility and independence.

However, when I do get a free moment I am an addict, of Netflix. It is a crippling addiction but one that I just can’t seem to shake. I also like to run, it has always been an important stress reliever as well as playing golf. I played for the team in high school and have always loved it. My entire family, both sides, are very serious about the sport; my dad loved it so much he decided to become a golf course superintendent. Unfortunately I don’t have a car here and when I go home I am busy with work and family so I haven’t had much time to play. I also enjoy sleeping. Napping is a great talent of mine that I take much pride in. I feel napping should be considered as an olympic sport; it requires skill and precision, as well as much focus and mental concentration. As you could probably tell, people also describe me as a smart-ass—moderately witty and overly sarcastic.

Thats me in a nutshell.
