I am glad that we are all gathered togetherhere at the World Organic Trade Fair, BioFach2014. It is a great honour for us and at thesame time an obligation to fulfill expectations.

Romania is a beautiful country, blessed by nature with clean and fertile soil, and an amazing biodiversity.

In Romania, organic farming has always been at home as a way of life. And now the passion and the expertise of these young professionalsmakepossible a transition to large-scale, certified organic agriculture.

At BioFach there are about 40 exhibitors assembled under the umbrella of the national pavilion of Romania. Mr. Daniel Constantin,

Romania has a huge potential to develop organicagriculture in the future: we have fertile and unpolluted lands, suitable for large-scale cultivation,we have vast areas, where we are still using traditional farming methods without any chemicalintervention.

Our country is surrounded by virgin forests, wherewild fruits, so healthy and appreciated by Europeanconsumers, grow naturally over large regions.From the very beginning agriculture has been the foundation on which the pyramid of social development rests.

I am convinced that Romanian farmers specializingin organic farming will also benefit from BioFach2014 in another way. They are here among their professional colleagues, European farmerswith whom they share the same principles and values. Collaboration between Romanian and otherEuropean farmers will help to consolidate a singleecologically active community and to establish a healthy way of life.

I send my greetings to all the members of this community, who by their daily efforts are succeedingin fulfilling the requirements of consumers by offeringeveryday solutions to meet their need for healthy products in order to ensure their wellbeing in a modern world that pays more and more attention to the origins and manufacture of its products.

I would like to take this opportunity and extend to you, exhibitors and participants from all over theworld at this biggest international organic tradefair, an invitation to discover one of the treasures of the Romanian village, an ancestral but still vigorous root, that so far unfortunately has only a modest presence in the world at large – I amreferring to the Romanian gastronomic heritage.

I hope you will appreciate the organic productsand the traditional dishes with their uniqueRomanian taste from the Carpathian mountain range. May you take away with you the taste of Romania, visit our lovely country and appreciate the simple joys of life: our healthybread, good wine and the simple natural life.

Ich bin sehr erfreut mit Ihnen hier auf derWeltleitmesse für Bio-Lebensmittel, der BioFach2014 zu sein. Die Teilnahme ehrt uns undverpflichtet uns gleichzeitig Erwartungen zu erfüllen.

Rumänien ist ein wunderschönes, von Natur reich gesegnetes Land, mit sauberen und ertragreichen Böden sowie einer bemerkenswerten biologischen Artenvielfalt.

Die Bio-Landwirtschaft war in Rumänien immerbeheimatet, da diese dort eine Lebenseinstellungdarstellt. Und nun sind es junge Branchenkenner,die sich als moderne europäische Landwirte verstehen, die zielstrebig nach vorne blicken und erste Schritte in Richtung einer modernenkontrolliert biologischen Landwirtschaftunternehmen.

Unter der Schirmherrschaft des “Ministeriums für Landwirtschaft und Entwicklung des Ländlichen Raums“ (MADR) präsentieren sich über 40 Aussteller im rumänischenLandespavillon.

Rumänien hat ein riesiges Potential bei der zukünftigen Entwicklung der Bio-Landwirtschaft: wir verfügen über saubere und ertragreiche Anbauflächen, geeignet für großangelegte Kulturen, über weite Gebiete, wo dieLandwirtschaft unter Verzicht auf chemischeMitteln mit traditionellen Methoden betrieben wird.

Wir besitzen große, unberührte Wälder, wo die vonden europäischen Endverbrauchern sohochgeschätzten, gesunden, wildwachsendenWaldfrüchte gedeihen. Von Anbeginn an war dieLandwirtschaft das Fundament der Pyramide zurgesellschaftlichen Entwicklung.

Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass die in der Bio-Landwirtschaft spezialisierten rumänischenLandwirte, auch hier auf der BioFach 2014 erfolgreiche “Ernte“ einfahren werden. Sie sind hier unter Fachkollegen aus Europa mit denen sie die gleichen Prinzipien und Werte teilen,Erfahrungen auszutauschen, um durchZusammenarbeit eine einzigartige Gemeinschaft,basierend auf ökologische Prinzipien, zu schaffen,und auch die Lebensqualität für uns alle zusteigern.

Ich begrüße ebenfalls alle Mitglieder dieserGemeinschaft, welche stets bemüht sind dieAnforderungen der Verbraucher für gesunde

AGF CEREAL RUMENA emerged on theRomanian market in 1997, as a representative of the Tampieri group, the company owing its foundation to the group’s need to respond to the growth of the Italian market in the food,energy and agro-alimentary sectors.

The company produces and sells oleaginous and non-oleaginous seeds and makes sure the Italian mother company is supplied with raw materials. Sunflower, wheat, cole, maize, barley and peas are only a few of the bio goodsthe company produces and sells. The goods are produced in collaboration with bio farmers,or obtained directly from the cultivation of the fields owned by the company in the County of Braila. After harvesting, the goods are kept in optimal storage conditions inside the company’s warehouse in Lacu Sarat, Braila County.

Our philosophy is based on aiming for perfectionin all endeavours, all of our efforts being focusedon reaching this goal.

AGF CEREAL RUMENA begann Ihre Tätigkeitauf dem rumänischen Markt im Jahre 1997, alsVertreter der Gruppe Tampieri. Die Gründungdes Unternehmens entstand aus derNotwendigkeit der Firmengruppe dasBedarfswachstum des italienischen Marktes inder Lebensmittelindustrie, in der energetischenIndustrie und auch im landwirtschaftlichenBereich zu decken.

Die Tätigkeit des Unternehmens ist dieHerstellung und Vermarktung von Ölsaaten und Nichtölsaaten aber auch die Lieferung vonRohstoffe an die Muttergesellschaft in Italien. Zu den von uns hergestellten und verkauftenNaturprodukte zählen: Sonnenblumen, Weizen,Raps, Mais, Gerste, Erbsen. Die Waren werden in Zusammenarbeit mit unseren biozertifiziertenHerstellern aber auch direkt auf unserenAckerflächen im Landkreis Braila produziert.Nach der Ernte werden die Waren unter optimalen Bedingungen, in unserem Lager in der Stadt Lacu Sarat, Braila aufbewahrt.

Agrimondo

AGRIMONDO was founded in Romania in 2007, based on the big demand on behalf of well-known firms which produced organic fodder and organic alimentary products and which wanted to obtain their raw materialsdirectly from the fields.

Agrimondo guarantees rather short trade routes and is always in contact with the farmers.In 2011 and 2012 various new cultivation projects have been realized.

Agrimondo deals with various interests concerning organic farming such as tests on seeds of soy beans.

Agrimondo has developed an excogitated logistic system for the roads, railway and shipping mainly from Romania.

Agrimondo has on its disposal various controloffices in different places in Romania. Cerealsand oil seeds coming from the western area are registered in Timisoara, those from the area of the Black Sea in Tulcea and Braila and the ones from the north-east in Botosani and transported directly from there by lorry, vessel or train.

Established in 2000, AGRO EXIM GRUP beganits activity as a producer, working on a 400hectares area located in the heart of the DanubeDelta. In 2003, the company started using organic farming methods, being the initiator of this trend for many local farmers.

Nowadays Agro Exim Grup coordinates and controls production from the organicexploitation of over 10,000 hectares.

Thus, in 2011 the company managed to exportover 25,000 tonnes of organic grains.

Aiming to meet the highest standards in fulfillingcustomer demands and being provided withEuropean funding, in 2012 Agro Exim Grupdecided to invest in the construction of one of the most modern storage, processing and packaging centres for organic products in Europe.

Agro Exim Grup provides a wide range of organic agricultural products certified by EUBio, NOP and Bio Suisse: milling wheat, spelt,durum wheat, fodder wheat, linoleic and high-oleic sunflower seeds, barley, rapeseed,fodder corn and corn for polenta, flaxseeds, millet, oats, sorghum, fodder peas and soybeans.

Apicola Bacau

APICOLA BACAU is a Romanian company, located in Bacau County, founded in 1990 by the Romanian Beekeepers Association.

We specialize in packed apiary products andfood supplements based on apiary products.

In 2004 we started our own program for organicbeehive products.

In 2005, in collaboration with the German certification body Ecocert S.A, we succeeded in having 50 beekeepers certified for organichoney production.

In 2006 the number of certified beekeepersincreased to 100 and, at present, we are workingwith over 150 organic honey producers. In 2006we took part in the BioFach fair, signing our firstcontract to deliver organic honey in the EU.

At the moment we are looking for buyers and trade intermediary services (distributors,agents, chain stores, etc.) for our packed products.

Currently our products have ISO 9100 and ISO 22000 certifications and are sold on the Romanian market and to various foreign countries such as France, Germany, UAE.

Apicola Deva

The APICOLA company has its headquarters in Deva, a city located at the foot of theCarpathian mountains.

The company is a member of the RomanianBeekeeping Association. Apicola Deva has more than 1.200 local members.

We collect and sell honey (acacia, poliflora, lynden, mountain sunflower) pollen, propollis,wax and all kinds of bee-products from all over Romania, both BIO and Conventional.

Apicola Deva is BIO certified by ECOCERT and has implemented ISO 22000.

Apiprodex

APIPRODEX was established in 2002 for production, processing and export of high quality apiary products. The head office and the warehouse are located in Targu Mures,a city in central Transylvania.

Our Organic certification program covers aprox.120 beekeepers which means that the organichoney of over 15.000 bee colonies can be foundon the European market.

In the summer of 2012 a new certification projectwas initiated, recognized by the West Europeanmarket as "NATURLAND" and covering at the moment 12 beekeepers with aprox. 2.000 bee colonies.

Inspection and certification of the organic beecolonies is provided by ECOINSPECT, in accordance with EC regulation 834 / 2007.

Prior to delivery, the honey is analyzed accordingto a series of parameters, the safety of the foodstuff being ensured by ISO 22000 quality system.

The range of products that Apiprodex companycan offer includes organic honey of the followingtypes: acacia, linden, polyfloral and manna, but also some apiary products such as pollenand propolis.

Die Firma APIPRODEX wurde im Jahr 2002 fürdie Produktion, Verarbeitung und den Export vonhochwertigen Imkereierzeugnissen gegründet.Der Firmenhauptsitz und das Lager befinden sichin der Stadt Targu Mures in Siebenbürgen.

Unser Bio-Zertifizierungs-Programm schließt ca.120 Imker ein, was einem Bestand von über 15.000 Bienenvölker entspricht.

Im Sommer des Jahres 2012 wurde ein neuesZertifizierungsprojekt initiiert. Dieses wird inWesteuropa als "Naturland" bezeichnet und hatals vorläufiges Ziel 12 Imker mit ca. 2.000Bienenvölkern.

Die Kontrolle und Zertifizierung der Bienenvölkerwird von ECOINSPECT durchgeführt, in Übereinstimmung mit der Europäischen Öko-Verordnung 834 / 2007.

Vor der Auslieferung wird der Honig gemäß einerReihe von Parametern analysiert. Die Sicherheitder Nahrungsmittel wird durch die ISO 22000Norm gewährleistet.

Die von Apiprodex angebotene Produktpalettebeinhaltet folgende Bio-Honigsorten: Akazien-, Linden-, Misch- und Mannahonig aber auch einige Imkereierzeugnisse wie Pollenund Propolis.

BIO ROMANIA - The Association of Ecological Agriculture Operators

BIO ROMANIA was formed by the merging of its 18 founding members: associations, cooperatives, companies, manufacturers,exporters, academics and notables from the field of organic agriculture.

The Association advocates the sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas, and the advancement of education, informationand consumer awareness of the benefits oforganic farming and promotes the consumptionof certified organic foods. In the short run, the Association is campaigning to createfavourable economic conditions for Romanianfarmers who practice organic farming.

Currently, Bio Romania owns over 80% of theRomanian organic products market. All productscovered by the members of our Association are organic and locally produced: cereals and organic crops, products derived from cereals and plants for technical uses, organic fruit and vegetables, green berries;bread and bakery products, green fodder, honey and bee products, organic finished products, organic dairy and cheese, organicchicken eggs, cosmetics.

BIO ROMANIA entstand aus der Fusion von 18 -Gründern: Mitarbeiter, Genossenschaften,Unternehmen, Hersteller, Exporteure,Wissenschaftler und Persönlichkeiten aus demBereich der ökologischen Landwirtschaft.

Der Verband fördert eine nachhaltigeLandwirtschaft und die ländliche Entwicklung. Er setzt sich für Bildung und Information ein undeine Sensibilisierung der Konsumenten für dieVorteile der ökologischen Landwirtschaft, undfördert somit den Konsum von zertifizierten Bio-Lebensmitteln. Der Verband setzt sich ein für die

Schaffung günstiger wirtschaftlicherRahmenbedingungen für rumänische Landwirte,die ökologische Landwirtschaft betreiben.

Derzeit kontrolliert Bio Romania über 80% desBio-Marktes Rumäniens. BIOTERRA - The Romanian Organic Farmers’ Association

BIOTERRA - the Romanian Organic Farmers’Association is the biggest association of biofarmers in Romania. It was established in 1997and contains almost 3.000 members in the whole country.

Bioterra is member of IFOAM and AvalonNetwork.

The Association is open to all shareholders in the organic field: producers, processors,traders, consumers, researchers, students and ordinary people who share our goals.

The main purpose is to promote organic agriculture in Romania, to encourage farmers to adopt protective farming measures for ecosystems and biodiversity and to promoteorganic food consumption.

Bioterra is organizing seminars, trainings, presentations, conferences, workshops, farmvisits, farmers’ participation in national and international trade fairs and exhibitions, and offers professional consultancy regardingorganic technologies and assistance in developing project proposals.

PETRAS BIO was founded in 2006. We are a 100% organic producer of raw germinatedfoodstuffs and premium pasta with 20 employees.

Our raw germinated foodstuffs are: raw germinated seeds and flours of amaranth, buckwheat, barley, brown millet, chickpeas,kamut, quinoa, lentils, oat groats, rye, spelt,wheat, raw germinated granola, raw germinated crackers and sweet snacks.

The germination significantly increases the content of vital elements of the seeds. The germination process takes place in a controlled temperature and humidity in order to obtain well developed shoots. Our productsare made only from ingredients that in the wholechain of processing have not been heated to a temperature higher than 42°C, in order not to destroy the living elements of the productby excessive heat.

Our noodles are handmade, laminated, loopedand 100% organic, dried at a maximum of 43°C,and consist of hard wheat and spelt, with theaddition of basil, spinach, paprika, hemp seedflour and mushrooms. The pasta can be 4 mmwide (tagliolini), 10 mm wide (tagliatelle) or 20 mm wide (pappardelle).

Senator Prodimpex

The Insuratei vineyard, owned by SENATORPRODIMPEX, a company started in 1991, is situated in the Eastern part of Romania, 10 km from the Danube.

The terrain consists mainly of sandy soils ondeposits of clay and small patches of limestone,with low levels of annual precipitations and hotsummers, which offer the perfect conditions for organic farming.

The temperature all year round is higher than in other vineyards, with more sunshine hours.Usually the grapes here ripen a little earlier than in other vineyards; the picking starts at the beginning of September. The characteristics of the wines from this region are dry red fruits and spices.

Senator Wine obtained the organic certificationaccording to EU standards beginning in 2010.This is the largest organic vineyard in EasternEurope, with almost 250 hectares.

The vineyard at Insuratei produces at themoment 2 brands of wine which contain only local varieties: Omnia and Hereditas. As the replanted vineyards start to develop, more varieties will appear in these brands.

Der Insuratei Weinberg, welcher zu SENATORPRODIMPEX gehört, befindet sich in demöstlichen Teil Rumäniens, 10 km von der Donauentfernt. Das Unternehmen wurde im Jahr 1991gegründet.

Die Anbaufläche besteht hauptsächlich aussandigen Böden, auf einer Ablage aus Lehm und Kalksteinflecken, mit geringen jährlichenNiederschlägen und heißen Sommern, die besten Voraussetzungen für den ökologischen Anbau bieten.

Die Temperatur ist höher als in anderenWeinanbaugebieten. Normalerweise reifen die Trauben hier früher als in den anderenWeinbergen. Diese können ab AnfangSeptember schon gepflückt werden.Charakteristisch für die Weine aus dieser Region sind die trockenen roten Früchte und die Gewürze.

Der Senator Wein erhielt die Biozertifizierungnach EU-Standards in 2010. Es ist das größteökologische Weinanbaugebiet in Osteuropa mit fast 250 Hektar.

Der Weinberg in Insuratei produziert zur Zeit 2Weinsorten welche nur lokal enthältlich sind:Omnia und Hereditas. Sobald die neubepflanztenWeinberge sich weiter entwickeln, entstehenauch weitere Sorten.

The Ecological University of Bucharest

The Ecological University of Bucharest wasfounded on April 4th, 1990.

In Romania, it was the first private higher education institution. Even today, it representsthe only university focusing on ecology.

In more than 16 years since its opening, about30,000 students have graduated here and turnedinto acknowledged experts in various fields,working in Romania and abroad.

From the beginning, the Ecological University of Bucharest adopted the motto "Quae nocent,docent". Currently it offers 5 accredited studyprogrammes, among them those of the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Protection.

The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Ecologyopened at the same time as the university itself.Since then, a long and tedious trajectory was traversed until the current structure and goalwere defined.

As compared to other ecology chairs in Romania,the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Ecologyaddresses a specialized target group, thus providing complementary instruction in the field.

Die Bukarester Universität für ökologischenLandbau wurde am 4. April 1990 gegründet.
