Parking on campus can be difficult, especially the first couple weeks of each semester. We suggest that you arrive on campus at least 20 minutes before your class so that you have time to look for a parking space and get to class without rushing.

You do not need a general parking permit and may park in any of the parking lots not marked residential only, visitor, or patient parking. Cars in those areas without the proper permit will be ticketed and possibly towed at the owner’s expense. If you have questions on parking, please contact the Campus Police at 307-674-6446 ext. 4150.

How do I register for classes? All first-time students are required to meet with an advisor to register for class(es). Once you are a current student you may register for classes using online registration available on WebAdvisor. We encourage all students to meet with an advisor to assist you in selecting the appropriate courses to reach your educational goals. For more information on enrolling for courses, please contact the Enrollment Services Office in the Whitney Building at (307) 674-6446 Ext. 2000. What is an advisor and how do I get one? Sheridan College has advisors to assist you with your studies. At Sheridan College we have faculty advisors available to help you when you declare a major. They may assist you with selecting classes in your major and with general information in your field of study. General studies students at Sheridan College are assigned to an academic advisor who are located in the Enrollment Services Office. Where do I get help with class(es)? There are a number of services to help students with classes. First, talk to your instructor as they may have some suggestions for you. Second, contact the Student Success Center in the Griffith Memorial Building; you may receive free tutoring and assistance with writing assignments. Online resources are available through Smart-Thinking services. You may also want to talk to some of your classmates to see if you can start a study group as they may be helpful as well.

Please contact Tim Charles, Disabilities Coordinator at (307)674-6446 Ext. 2701 or [email protected]. Can I withdraw from my courses? Yes, students may withdraw from a single course during the semester, or completely withdraw from school, but deadlines do apply. Check the class schedule for the listing of important dates for these deadlines. Also, check with your advisor or the Records Office for more information. Financial Aid For questions and answers please visit Financial Aid at http://www.sheridan.edu/sc/financialaid or in the Whitney Building. I probably don't qualify for aid. Should I apply for aid anyway? Yes. Many families mistakenly think they don't qualify for aid and prevent themselves from receiving financial aid by failing to apply for it. In addition, there are a few sources of aid such as unsubsidized Stafford and PLUS loans that are available regardless of need. The FAFSA form is free. There is no good excuse for not applying. Do I have to reapply for financial aid every year? Yes. Most financial aid offices require that you apply for financial aid every year. If your financial circumstances change, you may get more or less aid. After your first year you will receive a "Renewal Application" which contains preprinted information from the previous year's FAFSA. Note that your eligibility for financial aid may change significantly, especially if you have a different number of family members in college. Renewal of your financial aid package also depends on your making satisfactory academic progress toward a degree, such as earning a minimum number of credits and achieving a minimum GPA.

Page 9

What do those acronyms on the Student Aid Report (SAR) mean? The acronyms on the bottom of the SAR represent intermediate results in the need analysis. To fully understand their meaning, you will need to be familiar with the federal need analysis methodology, such as is used by the EFC Estimator. The meanings of the acronyms are as follows:

EFC Expected Family Contribution TI Total Income ATI Allowances Against Total Income STX State and Other Tax Allowance EA Employment Allowance IPA Income Protection Allowance AI Available Income CAI Contribution from Available Income (Independent Student) DNW Discretionary Net Worth APA Education Savings and Asset Protection Allowance PCA Parents' Contribution from Assets AAI Adjusted Available Income TPC Total Parents' Contribution TSC Total Student's Contribution PC Parents' Contribution SIC Dependent Student's Income Contribution SCA Dependent Student's Contribution from Assets

If an asterisk appears next to the EFC figure, the student has been selected for verification. The asterisk is followed by a code that explains the reason why the student was selected for verification. The letter explains the reason for selection, and the number indicates the priority, with code 1 the highest priority and code 25 the lowest priority (although there are higher codes).
