Dear Colleagues, As we head towards the Easter period, I want to reflect on what we’ve overcome and achieved as one team, in a very short space of time. In the weeks since Premier Daniel Andrews declared a State of Emergency, we’ve responded calmly and constructively to meet the needs of passengers and our people. We’ve implemented enhanced cleaning measures across our many workspaces and strengthened supply chains to ensure protective equipment and materials reach you as required. As one team, we’ve embraced effective social distancing measures – and channelled questions to immediate leaders, in the first instance, to ensure feedback is understood and addressed quickly. For some, there has been significant changes as they are now working from home. Of course for the majority of our team, that is not possible, and we continue to support our passengers in these unprecedented times. In the same short time, Metro has introduced Early Intervention Special Leave and Epidemic/Pandemic Special Leave, as well as tailored support for colleagues in vulnerable groups. And we’ve built-on our existing Employee Assistance Program (EAP), to provide SMS counselling in addition to the regular telephone service. This has coincided with Rail R U OK? Month, where we have all been encouraged to support those around us who might be struggling at this particularly difficult time. Please find attached more information about the SMS counselling service which can be accessed 24/7 by texting 0439 449 876 and is also available to immediate family members. Crucially, we have made this progress while maintaining a full and essential service – keeping Melbourne moving in the most challenging circumstances. For example we’ve just finished the Sandringham Infrastructure Shut. My thanks to all involved in this major piece of work. Throughout this time, I’ve been so proud to see us adapt and quickly respond to change, whilst living our values and behaviours – working as one team and making a difference to our colleagues and community who depend on us. Regardless of how you usually spend the Easter long weekend, this one will be different for each and every one of us. Thank you to our colleagues who will be working over the break to keep running our essential service. To those who have the time off, I urge you to take some time to reflect, and to relax if you are able. Remember that we will all have good days and bad days in the current circumstances and that safety and looking out for each other remains our first priority. Thank you for all your work. Regards, Catherine Catherine Baxter Chief Operating Officer

“I liked getting straight to the point, I also like that it is here for me to read, most of the time when I come out of a face to face session I have forgotten what was said by the time I get home or need to
