EXT. WILLAMETTE COLORADO – DAY

(NOTE: THIS IS A COMMERCIAL STYLE SEQUENCE!)

A helicopter flies over a sunny day filming a continuity high angle of Willamette, CO. The streets are crowded with cars as the sidewalks of the town are crowded with the residents.

NARRATOR:Are you tired of the boring old city?

CUT TO:

EXT. TOWN – DAY

Everyone in town is smiling cheesy and waving at the camera as it cuts with still medium shots, focusing on different people.

NARRATOR:Then come to Willamette, Colorado; home of the friendliest

Americans and home of America’s largest mall!

CUT TO:

EXT. WILLAMETTE SHOPPING CENTER – DAY

The camera jump cuts between the outdoor food court, the indoor food court, the movie theater, the home improvement store, the daycare center, the music store, the book store, and the parking lot. All are crowded with happy residents of Willamette.

NARRATOR:Here at this mall, the employees know how to take care of their

costumers!

The camera jump cuts between all locations and the employees have cheesy smiles while helping their costumers. The costumers have cheesy smiles, too.

NARRATOR:This mall has everything! From a home improvement store to a book

store! From two food courts to a multiplex! Come shop today!

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. WILLAMETTE SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT – DAY

All residents stand outside and wave at the camera.

ENTIRE TOWN:(At the same time)

You won’t regret spending a dollar!

NARRATOR:Willamette Shopping Center!

(A GRAPHIC APPEARS!)

NARRATOR:Shop your brains out!

FLASH TO:

BLACK SCREEN

A text appears reading, “Over the past thirty-three months, the federal agents have been pursuing biological terrorist and rebel leader, Carlito Keyes. He is running low on sources for his plots.”

FADE IN:

EXT. SOUTH AMERICAN JUNGLE – DAY

All people in this scene are speaking with subtitles. The trees are bright green, the sun is orange and almost setting, and there are several rebels transporting large wooden boxes in green cargo trucks. There are close up shots of the boxes and groaning is heard really loud from the boxes. Carlito is shown standing tall wearing a green uniform and sporting a ponytail. There are six guards standing behind him. Two are armed with AK-47s while the other four have their pistols holstered. The other four begin to unload the boxes. One of the soldiers accidentally slips his fingers, dropping his end.

CARLITO KEYES:Be careful! We can’t risk infection.

CLUMSY SOLDIER:Sorry!

The clumsy soldier continues to handle the box. A disfigured fist pops through the wooden box and rips a piece of flesh from the soldier’s hand. Carlito draws his .45 and fires three rounds point blank into the box, killing the zombie. He then turns his attention to the wounded and clumsy soldier.

CARLITO KEYES:You okay?

WOUNDED SOLDIER:It’s only a scratch.

Carlito blasts a bullet into the soldier’s forehead. Blood bursts into mist through the back of his head. Carlito turns his attention to the other soldiers.

CARLITO KEYES:We can’t risk infection. I expect the same for me. Now take the

bodies and bury them in the hill!

CUT TO:

EXT. HILL – DAY

Carlito’s soldiers are shown dragging the two corpses into a muddy hill. One grabs a shovel and buries two holes only to find two more bodies.

CUT BACK TO:


The soldiers return and tell Carlito that they ran out of room in the hill.

CUT TO:

EXT. RIVER – DAY

The soldiers are shown dropping the two bodies into a brown river.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM – DAY

Four people are shown waiting inside a conference room. The camera examines the dark glass room and gets a good look at all four people. The people include photojournalist Frank West, genetic researcher Russell Barnaby, and DHS agents Brad Garrison and Jessie McCarney. Frank is tall, slim and muscular, has black slick hair, and is wearing blue jeans, a white button-up shirt, and a brown leather jacket. Barnaby is older and wears glasses. He is also wearing a suit with a white lab coat. Brad is tall, well built, bald, and African-American. He is wearing a gray suit with a white shirt. Jessie is female. She has blonde hair and a light tan. She wears glasses and a black suit. The four are waiting for a superior to enter and give instructions.

BRAD GARRISON:(To Frank)

What exactly brought you here? You’re not exactly a cop, are you?

FRANK WEST:No, I’m a journalist.

BRAD GARRISON:I know who you are, Frank.

FRANK WEST:So, tell me something: what are you doing here?

BRAD GARRISON:It’s a federal investigation so it’s my job. What are you doing

here?

FRANK WEST:I’m looking for a story… there was something about harmful bees.

I’ve been researching this for over five months now.

CUT TO:

EXT. WILLAMETTE – DAY

Carlito and three of his soldiers are shown pulling up to a red light inside a black sedan.

CUT TO:INT. SEDAN – DAY

Carlito is in the backseat. He brings out a clear jar with a bee inside. He rolls down his window and quickly throws the jar towards a brick wall and it shatters. He quickly rolls his window up and the car flees the scene.

CUT BACK TO:


BRAD GARRISON:Any idea of what these bees can do?

FRANK WEST:No. I just know that someone was stung with the bee in South

America and after that; hundreds of people were found dead buried in a hill.

CUT TO:


Several government scientists wearing biohazard suits are shown walking through the jungle and find several dismembered bodies.

CUT BACK TO:


JESSIE MCCARNEY:That was Carlito Keyes’ village.

FRANK WEST:Who?

BRAD GARRISON:Carlito Keyes! He’s a leader of a militia group in South America.

He’s been involved in drug trafficking, arms dealing, murder; he’s a wanted criminal.

FRANK WEST:Do you think he was involved?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:It could be. But his sister, Isabella could be a suspect.

FRANK WEST:

Has she done any of the things he’s done?

CUT TO:

EXT. WILLAMETTE SHOPPING CENTER – DAY

Carlito and his men pull into a parking lot dressed in civilian clothes. They each grab a wide gym bag and walk into the sun. The camera cuts to Isabella. She is slender with black curls in her hair and green eyes. She is dressed in civilian clothes, as well.

ISABELLA KEYES:You told me you wouldn’t do this!

CARLITO KEYES:I couldn’t let it go. We need to show America we aren’t afraid to

start the worst for revenge.

ISABELLA KEYES:WE don’t need to do anything! This was your idea, not mine!

CARLITO KEYES:Well, it’s too late to back down. You can come with us. You’ll be

safer!

ISABELLA KEYES:Fine!

The five terrorists make their way into the mall.

CUT BACK TO:


BRAD GARRISON:Most of the time: no.

Barnaby is shown nervously drinking a glass of water, trying to keep calm. Jessie notices the doctor being neurotic.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Are you okay, doctor?

The doctor nods his head yes.

FRANK WEST:You haven’t said a word since we got here.

DOCTOR RUSSELL BARNABY:I’m fine! I’m just thirsty.

CUT TO:

EXT. WILLAMETTE – DAY

The scene is filmed from the bee’s point of view. It flies throughout the city and is trying to land somewhere safe. The bee sees a little boy and lands on the back of his neck.

CUT BACK TO:


The chief of Homeland Security enters the conference room. A computer with a slideshow projector is shown waiting. The chief is older with gray hair on the sides of his head. He is also wearing glasses and a suit.

CHIEF:I have called you all in for different reasons: Brad and Jessie

are called in to find Carlito Keyes, Dr. Barnaby is doing investigations on a certain bee, and Frank is doing a journalism

case on the same bee. Homeland Security believes this is all related.

The chief approaches the computer to flip through slides. The first slide shows hundreds of corpses in South America.

CHIEF:Two days ago, several bodies were found buried in a muddy hill. The government had done autopsies on all bodies and discovered

traces of a mysterious poison in their brain.

The chief flips to the next slide of Carlito’s destroyed campsite.

CHIEF:The bodies were linked back to Keyes’ campsite. All villagers in

the campsite were reported missing.

FRANK WEST:Were the bodies identified as the villagers?

CHIEF:

No, not yet.

The chief flips the next slide to a surveillance picture of Carlito and his men at an airport.

CHIEF:This photo was taken 18 hours ago at an airport in Colorado.

Keyes and his men are somewhere in the state.

The chief flips the next slide to a traffic picture.

CHIEF:We received this picture 3 hours ago of Keyes throwing some kind

of container towards a wall. We believe it may have been something contagious or deadly. We’re asking if the four of you can go to Willamette and investigate. Once you’re there, you’ll have 72 hours to investigate. Either way, we’ll come in and pick

you up.

The four are shown sitting and thinking about their mission.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. BOY’S HOUSE – NIGHT

The little boy previously stung by the bee is shown lying in his room feverish. His mother walks in and checks up on him.

BOY’S MOTHER:How you feeling, kiddo?

LITTLE BOY:I don’t feel so good. I feel like I’m going to throw up!

BOY’S MOTHER:Come on, sweetie. I’m going to take you to the bathroom.

CUT TO:

INT. BATHROOM – NIGHT

The boy is shown with his head over the toilet. He feels nautilus and his moaning from the pain. His skin is pale and he passes out. The mother then begins to worry.

BOY’S MOTHER:Sean? Sean, are you okay?

Sean lifts his head up. His mother is unaware that he is a zombie.

BOY’S MOTHER:It’s okay, let’s get you back to bed!

The mother lifts her hand out and Sean bites off one of her fingers like a chicken strip. Blood shoots from her stump as she screams in pain. She tries to get away but Sean bites the back of her leg open and starts tearing the flesh apart. She falls to the ground and the zombie boy marches toward her. She screams and the camera cuts.

CUT TO:

INT. PRIVATE JET – NIGHT

Frank, Brad, Jessie, and Dr. Barnaby are shown sitting in a private jet reviewing their case files and photos. Frank is sitting in a leather cushy seat Jessie walks over and seats her across from Frank.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Why did you take this case?

FRANK WEST:(Sighs)

Is every fed going to ask me why I took this?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Yes!

FRANK WEST:In that case, the money’s good. My newspaper is paying me ten

grand if I can get a good story for them.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:So, you don’t care about stopping a terrorist? You just care

about your money?

FRANK WEST:I didn’t say that!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:It sure sounded like it.

FRANK WEST:Are you done? Because I would like to get back to researching.

Jessie gets up and leaves to her original seat.

CUT TO:

EXT. AIRPORT – DUSK

The plane lands on an airstrip on a cloudy morning. Jessie, Brad, Frank, and Barnaby get off their plane and are approached by two military officials.

SGT. ROGERS:Are you Agent Brad Garrison?

BRAD GARRISON:Yes, I am.

Rogers shakes Brad’s hand.

SGT. ROGERS:I’m Sgt. Rogers with the United States Army. I am here to escort you through the city. Would you and your team follow me, please?

The team follows Rogers and his men into three Hummers. They then begin to drive.

CUT TO:

INT. HUMMER – DAY

BRAD GARRISON:Where are you taking us?

SGT. ROGERS:I’m taking you to a helicopter. It’s not safe to drive on the

road into the city.

BRAD GARRISON:Why is that, exactly?

CUT TO:

EXT. WILLAMETTE – DAYSeveral civilians in town are shown getting ripped apart by zombies. Throats ripped out, arms ripped off, legs ripped off,

ear bit off, and stomachs ripped open. The town has turned into a big bloodbath.

CUT TO:

EXT. HELIPAD – DAY

The helipad is on top of a military base outside Willamette. There is a large Shinook helicopter for Frank and his team and Sgt. Rogers and three of his marines. The team gets inside.

CUT TO:

INT. HELICOPTER – DAY

The helicopter has plenty of space. There are two long benches on both sides for everyone to sit on. The pilot is named Ed. He looks and dresses like a Vietnam vet. The team sits themselves out and gets ready for take-off.

CUT TO:

INT. COCKPIT – DAY

Ed turns on a speaker.

ED:Good afternoon, everyone, my name is Ed and I am your pilot. If you have any questions, please step inside the cockpit. Thank

you!

CUT TO:


The blades of the helicopter start swirling. The helicopter takes off after preparation.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. HELICOPTER – DAY

The helicopter is now in the air. Brad is shown on a phone, talking to his daughter.

BRAD GARRISON:

Hi, how was your day? That’s good to hear, I’m proud of you… honey, I’m on a big case right now, can I call you later? Uh-huh…

I love you, too… bye!

Brad hangs up his phone. Jessie tries to make a conversation with Brad while Frank steps foot in the helicopter.

BRAD GARRISON:She just painted her first picture in class today.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:How old is she?

BRAD GARRISON:She’s seven!

Brad lifts out his wallet and hands her a picture. Jessie smiles.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:She’s a cutie!

BRAD GARRISON:Thanks!

CUT TO:


Frank steps foot in the cockpit. Ed notices this and turns his attention to him while flying the helicopter.

ED:Hey, what can I do for you?

FRANK WEST:When we fly into town, is there any way we can open a door so I

can get pictures:

ED:What are you, a photographer?

FRANK WEST:Actually, I’m a journalist.

ED:The best I can do is let you take pictures up here. Is that okay?

FRANK WEST:Yeah, that’ll do.

CUT TO:

EXT. SKY – DAY

The camera films a medium shot of the helicopter flying by.

CUT TO:

EXT. WOODS – DAY

Several military hummers are shown driving through the woods. Two hummers stop and block off the roads with razor-wire and machine-gunners.

CUT BACK TO:


Frank watches through the windows as the helicopter flies over the town. He begins snapping pictures.

CUT TO:

EXT. ROOFTOP – DAY

A security guard is shown blasting a six-shooter towards a pack of zombies charging toward him. He then runs out of bullets and jumps off a building to his death. On his way off the roof, a picture is snapped of him jumping.

CUT BACK TO:


Frank continues to take several pictures.

ED:What the hell is going on?

FRANK WEST:I don’t know I hope to find out soon!

CUT TO:

EXT. SCHOOL BUS – DAY

A school bus is stranded in the middle of the street. Several zombies burst through the windows.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. HELIPAD – DAY

Frank snaps several pictures.

CUT TO:

EXT. SKY – DAY

The helicopter is shown flying toward the mall.

CUT TO:

INT. HELICOPTER/COCKPIT – DAY

Brad is shown walking up from his seat to the cockpit.

BRAD GARRISON:Can you land at the mall?

ED:Are you crazy? There’s so many of those damn things down there!

FRANK WEST:(Pointing his finger)

There’s a landing space on the roof!

CUT TO:

EXT. MALL ROOF – DAY

The helicopter lands on the roof and the entire team (except for Brad) gets out.

CUT TO:


BRAD GARRISON:Be back to pick us up in 72 hours!

ED:You got it!

CUT BACK TO:

EXT. MALL ROOF – DAY

Brad exits the helicopter and Ed flies back to base. Rogers and his three marines secure the area to make sure there isn’t any zombies. Loud moans are heard.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:What is that noise?

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:It’s them!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:“Them” who?

FRANK WEST:The zombies out in the parking lot!

The camera pans to Frank as he is standing over the edge snapping pictures of the thousands of zombies in the parking lot.

SGT. ROGERS:What do you want my men to do, sir?

BRAD GARRISON:Secure the area! Check inside the mall and make sure there isn’t

any danger!

Frank is shown wandering around the roof, taking pictures. Suddenly, Carlito is shown standing casually next to Frank. Frank sees him and realizes who he is. Frank tries to call for help but Carlito pulls a .45 on him.

CARLITO KEYES:So, you know who I am?

FRANK WEST:You the guy who caused this fucking mess?

CARLITO KEYES:There’s no need to talk like that. This isn’t a mess; this is

just revenge, my friend.

FRANK WEST:What did Willamette ever do to you?

CARLITO KEYES:You people took everything from me!

Carlito peaks and sees Brad approaching the area.

CARLITO KEYES:I’ll be seeing you!

Carlito quickly injects a sedative in Frank’s neck. He then escapes using the air vents.

FADE TO BLACK:

FADE IN:

INT. CONTROL ROOM – DAY

Frank wakes up on a green leather couch and finds Barnaby and Jessie standing next to him.

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:How are you feeling, Frank?

FRANK WEST:Fine! How long was I out?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:You were out for a couple hours.

Frank sets his digital wristwatch on a timer for 69 hours. The clock starts counting down.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Frank, what happened?

FRANK WEST:I ran into Carlito and he knocked me out.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:What? Did he say anything?

FRANK WEST:

He said he’s doing this out of revenge. I have no idea what it means… do you?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:I have no idea. You should have called for help! We could’ve had

this thing over with in five minutes.

FRANK WEST:I’m sorry, but I was trying to survive since I had a damn gun

pointed at me!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Was that the reason or are you just trying to get a better story?

FRANK WEST:Fuck off! I’m not doing anything other than a job.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Whatever!

An older African-American janitor named Otis appears at the surveillance monitors next to Brad. Frank approaches the cameras.

BRAD GARRISON:You feel better?

FRANK WEST:Yeah, just fine! Jessie’s got a serious attitude problem, though.

BRAD GARRISON:Don’t feel bad! She does that with everyone.

OTIS:You said you were looking for some soldiers?

BRAD GARRISON:Did you find them on the cameras?

OTIS:No, not one single soldier.

BRAD GARRISON:I’m going to have to look for them. Do you have radios?

OTIS:Yes I do! Let me grab them!

Otis grabs two yellow radios and hands them to Brad. Brad hands one to Frank.

BRAD GARRISON:(To Frank)

Can you help me find them?

FRANK WEST:Sure, Brad. Do you have a gun for me?

Brad hands Frank his spare SIG Sauer p226 and an extra magazine.

OTIS:I’ll give you guys directions around the mall. Keep in touch!

CUT TO:

EXT. ELEVATOR – DAY

Brad and Frank press up on an elevator button. The elevator door opens and there is a panicked woman named Angela in there.

BRAD GARRISON:Are you okay?

ANGELA:(Crying hysterically)

You’ve got to help me! There are others down there and they’re being attacked.

FRANK WEST:How many survivors are there?

ANGELA:I only saw seven.

BRAD GARRISON:Go upstairs into the control room! It’s safe in there.

Angela runs, continuing to cry.

CUT TO:

INT. STORAGE ROOM – DAY

The room is dark and filled with boxes. Brad and Frank explore and make sure there aren’t zombies in the room. They then continue to make their way into Shopping Center A.

FLASH TO:

COMMERCIAL!INT. SHOPPING CENTER A – DAY

This is a segment advertising Shopping Center A. There are shots flashing between a bookstore, a sporting goods store, a guitar store, and several other stores. There are employees and customers in this short advertisement. All are smiling cheerfully.

NARRATOR:Shopping Center A: home of the largest bookstore and best music

store in town!

FLASH BACK TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER A – DAY

Brad and Frank look around and find that there is no one in sight.

CUT TO:

INT. BOOKSTORE – DAY

They look inside the bookstore and find an elderly man hiding behind the cash register.

FRANK WEST:Are you okay?

ELDERLY MAN:They’re out there!

BRAD GARRISON:We know… we’re doing what we can do protect everyone. We’re here

to help.

ELDERLY MAN:You can’t stop this, son. They appear everywhere!

FRANK WEST:

What do you mean?

A zombie appears behind Frank and almost bites him. Frank quickly fires a round into its chest but finds it’s not falling. He then fires another round through the zombie’s forehead and blood bursts through the back of its skull and onto the white tiled floor. Brad and the old man slowly look around the bookstore.

BRAD GARRISON:Sir, are there any other survivors?

ELDERLY MAN:Maybe, I don’t know.

BRAD GARRISON:I have to get you to safety!

FRANK WEST:You take him to the control room! I need to do some

investigating.

BRAD GARRISON:Frank, your story can wait.

FRANK WEST:I’m going to find Rogers and his men.

BRAD GARRISON:Call me when you find them!

Brad leads the old man back to the control room.

CUT BACK TO:


Frank continues to wonder throughout the section, finding survivors. He looks outside one of the glass doors and finds hundreds of zombies pressing towards the windows. Frank ignores them and walks. He thinks he is alone but he is not. He looks over at a store called “Well Dressed” and he enters.

CUT TO:

INT. WELL DRESSED – DAY

Frank is now looking in the mirror wearing a solid white suit with a black tie and black leather shoes. He then hears banging from the inside of one of the dressing rooms and he walks over to check it out. He draws his gun and cocks a bullet into the chamber. As he is walking, his phone goes off. Frank then picks it up.

FRANK WEST:Hello?

OTIS:(V.O.)

Hey, Frank, this is Otis, the janitor. Listen, Jessie and Brad are pissed that you’re trying on clothes so they want you to get

to work. They also are wondering if you can try to find some food. The grocery store is in Shopping Center E. Be careful because there are a million of those things running through

there.

FRANK WEST:Okay, I’ll try to do my best.

OTIS:(V.O.)

Call us if you need help walking around!

A zombie bursts through the door of the dressing room unexpectedly.

FRANK WEST:I gotta go!

Frank hangs up and quickly fires a bullet through the zombie’s forehead. Blood and brains burst through the back of the wound and onto the dressing room mirror. Frank then leaves the store.

CUT BACK TO:


The camera films a low-angle of Frank walking out of the clothing store.

FRANK WEST:(To himself)

I’ll need something besides this in case I run out of bullets.

Frank approaches a map and finds sporting goods store is upstairs.

CUT TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER A UPPER LEVEL – DAY

Frank walks up the deactivated escalator and hears crunching. When he reaches the top level, he finds two elderly zombies sharing meat from a corpse’s ribcage.

FRANK WEST:(To himself)What the fuck?

The zombies turn their heads toward Frank and he shoots both in their heads. He then thinks for a minute.


I can’t risk this coming to life like in those living dead movies.

The camera films Frank shooting the corpse in a wide-shot. It then turns back to him as he walks into the sporting goods store.

CUT TO:

INT. SPORTING GOODS STORE – DAY

The lighting is bright blue. There are several racks throughout the store holding golf clubs, skateboards, jerseys, tennis shoes, hockey sticks, wooden baseball bats, and aluminum baseball bats on display. Frank grabs an aluminum baseball bat and exits the store.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER A TOP LEVEL – DAY

Frank quickly runs from the exit of the store and through puddles of the corpse blood, trailing footprints. He then makes his way down the escalator.

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

The lawn is large and connects all four parts of the shopping center together. There is a 20-foot long and 3-foot deep pond filled with zombies. Little green on the grass is shown due to the zombies taking over. Frank walks outside and finds all zombies are distracted. He slowly walks through the dead crowd and begins to snap shots of the zombies. One zombie tries to attack him but Frank smashes it’s head open with the baseball bat. Gallons of blood burst from the wound. Frank continues to swing his way through the crowd and gallons of blood and brains are splattering and covering his white suit. He finally makes his way to the doors to Shopping Center E. He then enters the doors.

FLASH TO:

COMMERCIALINT. SHOPPING CENTER E – DAY

One shot is of the site under construction. It then dissolves to a shot of what the center will look like once construction is finished. There are several happy customers and employees in this commercial.

NARRATOR:Be sure to check out Shopping Center E on May 19th of next year!

Construction will be finished so we hope to see you there!

The commercial then ends.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER E – DAY

There is a deep fountain made of cement under construction. There are bright golden ceiling lights keeping the site lit. All stores are empty except for a large grocery store and a large home improvement store. Frank finds two empty gym-bags in a box inside the fountain. He grabs them and makes his way inside the grocery store.

CUT TO:

INT. GROCERY STORE – DAY

The store is wide. The tiles of the floor are chessboard patterned. A camera pans in a high angle over the ceiling, examining several zombies eating people alive. Frank then enters.

(GRAPHIC: “67 HOURS UNTIL PICK-UP”!)

CUT BACK TO:


Frank sees how many zombies are inside the mall and realizes he doesn’t have the right weapon to defend himself. He then sees the home improvement store and makes his way in there.

CUT TO:

INT. HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE – DAY

The lighting is gold. The floors are solid concrete and Frank finds the store empty. However, he looks up and the camera pans up and Frank finds the bodies of three decapitated marines and Carlito’s three decapitated men. All bodies are hanging upside down by their feet. Rogers’s than appears insane with his face painted in blood and begins to try throwing flash bang grenades to blind Frank. Frank keeps moving and dodging them.

FRANK WEST:Rogers, it’s Frank! Would you stop it?

Rogers keeps trying to attack Frank. Frank finally draws his gun and starts firing at Rogers. Rogers is able to dodge the bullets until one hits him in his foot. Frank approaches him.

FRANK WEST:Goddammit, will you snap out of it?

Rogers tries to swing a long machete covered in blood at Frank but Frank shoots Rogers in the chest twice. Frank then screams in anger and is unhappy with killing Rogers. After a moment of anger, he realizes that it’s time to get his mind back on his objectives. He sees a large red lawnmower and decides to use that as his weapon. Then, he finds small propane tanks and he puts one in his bag.

CUT TO:


Frank sets down a propane tank by the doors to the grocery store and turns it on. He then hides behind the fountain and shoots the

propane tank and it blows the doors apart and blows away several zombies. Frank quickly starts the mower and enters the grocery store.

CUT TO:

INT. GROCERY STORE – DAY

Frank drags the running mower into the store and uses it to grind up several zombies. Gallons of blood are splattering from each zombie, bones are crunching, flesh is getting ripped open, and limbs are flying off. The mower is dead and all zombies in the store are either dead or missing several limbs. Frank begins packing his bag with tons of food.

CUT TO:

INT. EXIT DOORS – DUSK

The sun is setting and Frank is prepared to leave. Before he leaves, Otis calls him. Frank then answers his phone.

FRANK WEST:Hello?

OTIS:(V.O.)

Thank God you’re still alive! We’re worried about you. Do you have the food?

FRANK WEST:Three days worth! Anything else?

OTIS:(V.O.)

There aren’t any more zombies in that section so you should be clear. There’s a gun store around the corner; can you see if

there are any survivors and maybe grab some ammo?

FRANK WEST:Yeah, I guess I can do that.

OTIS:(V.O.)

Call if you need help!

Frank hangs up and walks through a narrow white hall and finds two closed plate-glass doors with “Bill’s Guns” painted on the front.

CUT TO:

INT. BILL’S GUNS – DUSK

The store is small and all pistols are in glass containers and all shotguns and rifles are hanging on racks.

FRANK WEST:Is there anyone in here?

BILL:Freeze!

Bill, a grizzly-bear looking man pops up from behind the counter armed with a nickel-plated .44 magnum.

FRANK WEST:It’s okay! My name is Frank West and I have a safe spot. I have

food, and there are other survivors in the control room.

BILL:You here to save me?

FRANK WEST:Yeah, they sent me to look for survivors.

BILL:All right, do you guys need ammo?

FRANK WEST:Yeah!

BILL:I got some bags. Fill them up with what you can!

Frank and Bill quickly pack up all handguns, shotguns, a sniper rifle, and several boxes of ammunition.

BILL:How are we getting there?

FRANK WEST:By foot!

BILL:Like hell we are! I got my truck parked around back. We’ll drive

through the lawn to Shopping Center A and go from there.

CUT TO:

INT. TRUCK – DUSK

The truck is a brown pick-up. Bill starts the truck and they quickly drive to Shopping Center A.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. CONTROL ROOM – NIGHT

Jessie and Otis are watching the cameras. Brad is lying on the couch resting while Barnaby is checking on the survivors. Otis’ phone rings.

OTIS:Hello? Okay, see you in a minute!

Otis hangs up his phone.

OTIS:It’s Frank. He has food, weapons, and another survivor.

Frank and Bill enter with bags of food and guns. Barnaby enters and finds Frank covered in blood.

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:Frank, were you hurt?

FRANK WEST:No, but there are a lot less of those fuckers out there.

BRAD GARRISON:Did you find Carlito?

FRANK WEST:No, He could be hiding right now.

BRAD GARRISON:What about Rogers and his men?

FRANK WEST:

Rogers is dead. He went insane and killed his troops and Carlito’s men.

BRAD GARRISON:What happened to him?

FRANK WEST:He couldn’t snap out of a breakdown. He tried to kill me so I had

no choice.

BRAD GARRISON:It’s okay… the important thing is we have more survivors.

Tomorrow we’ll look for Carlito and hopefully find some answers.

INT. CONTROL ROOM – DAWN

Frank wakes up wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He overhears Barnaby and Brad talking about him in the other room.

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:He made it back alive, so I don’t see what’s wrong.

BRAD GARRISON:It’s just he’s so cocky and arrogant. When he got back last night, it seemed he was proud that he was out killing those

things.

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:What do you want me to do, talk to him? I’m not a damn

psychiatrist. I’m a biologist!

Frank enters the room.

FRANK WEST:You guys have something you want to tell me?

BRAD GARRISON:We’re moving out to find Carlito. Grab Bill and see if he can

help us!

A minute later, Brad, Bill, and Frank are all loading pump-action shotguns and getting ready to explore.

OTIS:Check the food court! I think I saw someone stealing food from

there, last night.

CUT TO:

INT. SAM’S MEAT MARKET – DAY

A large insane butcher named Sam is shown suspending people on sharp hooks.

SAM:I have to make sure you aren’t tainted.

Sam examines the hostages and finds there are no bites on them.

SAM:Perfect!

The camera pans to a meat-grinding machine and there are several pounds of frozen chicken and beef on the edge of it. Sam walks over and turns it on.

SAM:Let’s start serving happy customers!

Sam lifts one of the hostages from the hook and shoves him down the machine. The hostage is screaming as his body is being chopped into several pieces. The end of the machine is shown spitting out liters of blood and pounds of bones and intestines.

CUT TO:

INT. FOOD COURT – DAY

The food court is empty. There are several food stands including a pizza stand, a burger stand, a Chinese stand, an ice cream stand, and a large Italian restaurant. Frank, Brad, and Bill all enter and begin to search for survivors. Without the three knowing, Carlito is sitting through a window on the second level, watching them with a .50 caliber sniper rifle.

FRANK WEST:Hello?

BRAD GARRISON:Anyone there?

FRANK WEST:You’re safe!

Carlito is shown adjusting his scope and aiming his rifle towards the glass window. He fires a round and shatters the glass. Zombies start making their way in.

FRANK WEST:Ah, shit! I knew we weren’t alone.

Bill sees a zombie walking toward him. He blasts a round into its face, blowing it into pieces. Brad and Bill continue to unload their shotguns on the zombies as blood is being shed and brains are being splattered. Frank starts hopping through all the food stands and turns on the gas and the grills.

FRANK WEST:(Shouts)

We have to get to the Movie Theater!

The three make their way into the Movie Theater. On their way, the food court suddenly blows and all pieces of tile, all windows, and all of the stands blow up and several zombies are blown into ashes or are lit on fire and still wandering.

FLASH TO:

COMMERCIAL!INT. MOVIE THEATER – DAY

The Movie Theater is lit with dark blue lights. There are two food stands and theaters. The customers and employees are shown happy and enthusiastic.

NARRATOR:Come on into the mall’s Multiplex! The town and state’s cleanest,

and funnest theater. Please, stop by!

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. MOVIE THEATER – DAY

Bill, Frank, and Brad barricade the tall black entrance doors with 2 x 4s.

BILL:

So, who the hell let those things in?

BRAD GARRISON:It was Keyes!

BILL:Who?

FRANK WEST:Carlito Keyes! He’s the asshole who might have started all of

this.

BILL:Why did he do this?

BRAD GARRISON:We don’t know… we’re trying to figure it out but I doubt he’ll

tell us.

FRANK WEST:Guys?

BILL:I swear to God, I will get answers out of him!

BRAD GARRISON:Don’t be dramatic! He won’t cooperate. He’ll kill you before you

know it.

FRANK WEST:Guys, shut up for one minute!

Brad and Bill stop arguing. They hear someone running in one of the theaters.

BRAD GARRISON:Check each theater!

CUT TO:

INT. THEATER #1 – DAY

Brad enters and tapes a flashlight underneath his shotgun. He walks through every row and doesn’t find anyone.

Frank checks every row but doesn’t find anything. However, he hears someone in the closet.

Bill wanders through slowly but manages to find no one.

CUT BACK TO:


The camera slowly zooms in on the closet door. Frank pumps a shell into his shotgun and slowly opens the door.

INT. CLOSET – DAY

The lights are bright and Frank finds two survivors crouching in the corner of the dusty floor. One of the survivors is Warren, the snack bar clerk. He is a young kid with bushy, curly hair. The other survivor is Isabella. Isabella quickly draws a .45 at Frank and Frank draws his shotgun at Isabella.

FRANK WEST:I’m here to help!

ISABELLA KEYES:You are trying to kill my brother, too?

FRANK WEST:No, we’re trying to get answers from him.

ISABELLA KEYES:What do you want with us?

FRANK WEST:We’re looking for survivors. I’m here to take you somewhere safe.

ISABELLA KEYES:There’s no such thing as “safe.”

FRANK WEST:

You can take your chances if you want… sooner or later, you’ll become dinner for them.

WARREN:I’ll go with you!

Frank and Warren leave Isabella behind in the closet.

CUT TO:

INT. MULTIPLEX LOBBY – DAY

Frank escorts Warren to Brad.

FRANK WEST:Brad, we have a survivor. This is Warren; he was hiding in the

closet.

BRAD GARRISON:Were there any other survivors, Warren?

WARREN:Yeah, there was this girl. I think her name was Isabella.

BRAD GARRISON:Where is she?

WARREN:She’s back in the closet.

Bill returns to the lobby.

BRAD GARRISON:Frank, come with me! Bill, keep here and watch Warren!

Frank and Brad go back to the closet.

CUT TO:

INT. CLOSET – DAY

Brad and Frank return to the closet and find that Isabella isn’t there.

CUT TO:

Brad and Frank walk into the theater and make their way out. Out of nowhere, Isabella appears with her gun pointed at Brad’s head.

ISABELLA KEYES:I told you that I’m not going with you guys.

FRANK WEST:I know… but he needs to ask you something.

ISABELLA KEYES:(To Brad)

Give me your gun!

BRAD GARRISON:We’re here to help you.

ISABELLA KEYES:Bullshit! You want my brother but you can’t have him!

BRAD GARRISON:We’re not trying to arrest him. We only want to talk to him to

find a way to cure what ever it was that caused this.

Frank points his shotgun at the back of Isabella’s head.

FRANK WEST:Okay, you’re going to drop the fucking gun. Drop it or I’ll blow

your head off!

ISABELLA KEYES:I’ll kill him if you don’t put your gun down!

FRANK WEST:Do it! He means nothing to me.

BRAD GARRISON:What the hell are you doing, Frank?

Isabella cocks back her gun and before she can pull the trigger, Frank hits her in the back of the head with the stock of the shotgun.

INT. CONTROL ROOM – DUSK

Isabella is lying on a bed with handcuffs on. Barnaby is giving her medical attention while Frank, Brad, and Jessie are talking.

FRANK WEST:Carlito was the one who let them in back in the food court.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:How do you know? It could’ve been someone you blew up with the

propane tank.

BRAD GARRISON:No, there couldn’t have been anyone else with that kind of weapon

in here.

FRANK WEST:Well, maybe someone had access to the gun store.

BRAD GARRISON:It sounded like a large caliber that hit the window. I don’t

think a gun store could sell that.

FRANK WEST:So, what do we do? I mean with Isabella?

BRAD GARRISON:We interrogate her. We only have…

Brad checks his watch.

BRAD GARRISON:45 hours to figure out what went wrong. Let’s try making best of

this time!

FRANK WEST:What do we ask her? Better yet, how do we ask her?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Not hit her in the head with a shotgun, that’s for damn sure.

FRANK WEST:If it weren’t for me, your partner would be dead.

BRAD GARRISON:Both of you break it up!

Frank and Jessie stop arguing.

BRAD GARRISON:Frank, can I talk to you for a second?

Brad and Frank walk away from Barnaby and Jessie.

BRAD GARRISON:Before we ask her, we should probably ask Barnaby questions. He

was involved in the experiments, wasn’t he?

FRANK WEST:He was involved with the bees, but not the zombies.

BRAD GARRISON:Well he might be involved in it more than we know and stop saying

“zombie!” We’re not little kids for chrissake.

FRANK WEST:Well, we can’t call them John Does now can we?

BRAD GARRISON:No! Let’s try to look for Carlito and then-

The power suddenly shuts off and all everyone begins to worry. The room’s emergency lights go on and the room is now red. Otis enters the room.

BRAD GARRISON:What causes power in here to go out?

OTIS:I do remember when we first built a roller coaster that it took up so much power the entire mall went off. We’ve been trying to

get it fixed ever since but never managed to do it.

FRANK WEST:What did you do to fix it and to help the lights go on?

OTIS:Simple: we turned off the power to the roller coaster.

FRANK WEST:Where exactly is the roller coaster?

OTIS:Fun-land! You might want to take some of these.

Otis hands Frank a heavy-duty flashlight.

BRAD GARRISON:You sure you want to do this?

FRANK WEST:Yeah… just get me a shotgun with a lot of spare shells! I’ll be

fine.

CUT TO:

EXT. ROOFTOP – DUSK

The sun is close to setting and the sky is orange. Frank walks onto the roof toward the elevator and finds thousands of zombies crowded in the parking lot. Bill is shown standing on the roof with a sniper rifle, sniping the zombies one by one.

BILL:There’s too many of those goddamn things!

FRANK WEST:I know, but there’ll be less.

Frank continues to walk toward the elevator.

BILL:Frank, come here!

Frank walks back.

FRANK WEST:What is it?

BILL:Look through the scope!

Bill moves and lets Frank look through the sniper scope.

CUT TO:

EXT. PARKING LOT – DUSK

The scene is filmed through the sniper scope. The large crowd of zombies is decreasing within a matter of seconds. The zombies are finding ways inside the mall.

EXT. ROOFTOP – DUSK

BILL:What the hell is going on?

FRANK WEST:I don’t know, but I’m about to find out.

Frank walks toward the elevator but finds that it is disabled. Frank then walks back to the control room.

CUT TO:

INT. CONTROL ROOM – DUSK

Frank walks in and finds Otis waiting by the door.

OTIS:What are you doing back?

FRANK WEST:Is there another way in? The elevator is broken.

OTIS:(Pointing to a door)You see that door?

FRANK WEST:Yeah!

OTIS:That door leads through a hall which leads you to Shopping Center

A. Go through there and make your way in!

Frank walks through the door.

CUT TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER A HALLWAY – DUSK

The hallway is also lit with red lights. Frank walks in and finds two zombies eating someone’s face off, exposing the corpse’s gums and eyes. A zombie then rips out the corpse’s eyeball and eats it in one bite. Crunching is heard. Frank cocks back his shotgun and

both zombies continue eating. Frank points the gun at the back of a zombie’s head and blows his skull in half. He cocks another shell real quick and blasts the other one through the mouth. Blood and teeth burst through its mouth. Frank then cocks another shell and shoots at the corpse, fearing it will turn into a zombie.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER A – NIGHT

The sky is now pitch black. Frank uses the blue flashlight to guide him through and he is heard firing a large amount of rounds as he is making his way to Fun-Land.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. FUN-LAND ENTRANCE – NIGHT

Frank walks towards the entrance of Fun-Land. There are no zombies near the entrance. The entrance is barricaded by rainbow patterned doors and a sign which says “Fun-Land” in rainbow colored italics. Frank enters.

FLASH TO:

COMMERCIAL!INT. FUN-LAND – DAY

This is an advertisement promoting Fun-Land. There is a daycare center, an ice cream stand, a large roller-coaster with rainbow patterns, and a clown to entertain the shoppers. The clown approaches the camera.

ADAM THE CLOWN:Hi, shoppers! I am Adam the Clown and I’m here to tell you about the greatest ride in the state. This ride fits over fifty of the happiest shoppers! If you feel down, ride the coaster! If you feel bored, ride the coaster! The ride will change your life

forever. Come visit today.

Adam blows a shiny red balloon and waves goodbye to the camera. The commercial ends.

CUT TO:

INT. FUN-LAND – NIGHT

White lanterns only light Fun-Land. The roller coaster has lit rainbow lights surrounding it. There are a few other stores on the top floor. Frank examines Fun-Land with his shotgun locked and loaded. Frank slowly walks up to the roller coaster and finds the park empty. A bright yellow balloon is then shown being thrown at Frank’s arm. It pops and an acid liquid begins to burn Frank’s jacket and he quickly takes it off and throws it to the ground.

ADAM THE CLOWN:(Shouts)

Welcome to Fun-Land!

Adam madly screams and charges toward Frank while holding two mini chainsaws. Frank then tries to fire a round at Adam but Adam is quick and dodges it. Frank continues to fire more rounds but Adam leaps onto the roller coaster. Frank then uses the time to reload.

ADAM THE CLOWN:How about a balloon?

Adam throws another balloon loaded with acid and Frank dodges it. Adam then hops off the moving roller coaster with the chainsaws and slices Frank’s shotgun in half.

FRANK WEST:Shit!

ADAM THE CLOWN:You haven’t finished the time you paid for.

Adam starts chasing Frank as Adam keeps throwing the balloons. Adam notices at last minute a yard supply store.

CUT TO:INT. YARD SUPPLY STORE – NIGHT

Frank locks himself inside away from Adam. He tries to think fast and he finds a red axe. Adam breaks the glass doors with his chainsaws and hunts for Frank. Frank is hiding on the edge of an isle and swings out the axe into Adam’s leg. Adam screams in pain, falls to his knees and drops the buzzing chainsaws. Frank then jams the axe into the back of Adam’s head and his body falls torso first on top of the chainsaws, sawing him in half like

butter as blood and guts are splattering all over the white floor.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. FUN-LAND – NIGHT

Frank, now covered head to toe in blood again, pulls back on a lever, which turns the roller coaster off and the power back on. Golden bright lights shine throughout the entire mall. Frank then hears the moaning of zombies entering Fun-Land. He then runs back into the yard supply store.

CUT TO:

INT. YARD SUPPLY STORE – NIGHT

Frank runs through the blood-soaked floor and jerks the axe out of Adam’s skull.

DISSOLVE TO:


Frank runs through a crowd of zombies, swinging his axe. Skulls are busting open with gallons of blood oozing and heads are flying off with blood spraying like a garden hose.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. ROOFTOP – NIGHT

Frank exhaustingly makes his way up to the roof and finds Brad waiting for him.

BRAD GARRISON:Jesus! What happened to you?

FRANK WEST:Lost my gun, killed a clown, got the power back, and ruined some

more clothes.

BRAD GARRISON:Were you bitten?

Frank examines himself.

Frank walks in and takes off his bloody shirt.

FRANK WEST:Otis, are there any showers in here?

OTIS:Yeah, in the locker room! Do you want new clothes?

FRANK WEST:Yeah!

INT. LOCKER ROOM – NIGHT

Frank is now done with his shower. He is shown with wet hair and dry clothes.

CUT BACK TO:


Frank enters and finds Isabella lying awake and handcuffed to the bed.

ISABELLA KEYES:You asshole! You’ll pay for this!

FRANK WEST:We need information! For starters, you can tell us what the hell

is going on here!

ISABELLA KEYES:He’ll kill you all!

BRAD GARRISON:Answer the question!

ISABELLA KEYES:He’ll make sure you guys don’t get out alive.

ISABELLA KEYES:He wants revenge!

FRANK WEST:Revenge for what?

ISABELLA KEYES:He’ll get it, too!

FRANK WEST:What does he want revenge for, Isabella?

BRAD GARRISON:What do you mean?

Isabella is refusing to answer Brad’s question.

FRANK WEST:Brad, un-cuff her!

BRAD GARRISON:Why?

FRANK WEST:Just do it!

Frank grabs his axe while Brad un-cuffs Isabella from the bed. He then handcuffs her hands behind her back and Frank drags her out of the control room by her hair.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Frank, what are you doing?

CUT TO:

EXT. ROOFTOP – NIGHT

Frank brings Isabella out to the roof and handcuffs her to a pipe. He then uses the axe to smash out pieces of the fence surrounding the roof.

FRANK WEST:You want to play games?

ISABELLA KEYES:Un-cuff me!

FRANK WEST:No, fuck that! You haven’t said one word to help us so now you’re

gonna learn the hard way!

Frank un-cuffs Isabella’s hands and cuffs her ankles to a pipe where she is hanging upside down on the edge of the roof.

FRANK WEST:Start talking or I’ll chop the chain off and you’re dead!

ISABELLA KEYES:Do it! You’re going to die, anyway.

FRANK WEST:Don’t tempt me!

ISABELLA KEYES:What are you waiting for?

Frank then positions the axe toward the chain. Before he can chop it, Isabella stops him.

ISABELLA KEYES:I’ll talk! Just let me back up!

Frank helps Isabella get back on the roof.

CUT BACK TO:


Isabella is sitting on her bed, quietly telling Jessie, Brad, and Frank the information they need.

ISABELLA KEYES:Five months ago, we found several beehives in a cave. We brought

them back for research and some of the jars broke during an earthquake and the bees got away. Some left but the rest were still in our village. A bee stung one of the children and then

within 24 hours she started attacking people.

BRAD GARRISON:Why did Carlito release the bees?

ISABELLA KEYES:We told the American embassy what happened and they said they would send in help. One day Carlito and I went to search for a

cure and we came back and found our houses burned down and everyone dead in the village. Since then, he started recruiting

soldiers and he went and captured the rest of the bees.

BRAD GARRISON:What’s his next move?

ISABELLA KEYES:I don’t know!

FRANK WEST:Come on! You must know more then this B-movie bullshit. Tell us

more answers!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Frank, stop it!

ISABELLA KEYES:I know where he’s hiding.

FRANK WEST:Where?

ISABELLA KEYES:He’s hiding inside the ceiling in the part of the mall that’s

under construction.

BRAD GARRISON:Take us there!

ISABELLA KEYES:I want a gun!

FRANK WEST:You going to shoot us in the back while we’re not looking? Forget

it! You’re not getting a gun.

ISABELLA KEYES:Carlito’s going to try to kill me when he finds out I helped you

guys.

Frank hands Isabella an axe.

FRANK WEST:Start out with this!

Otis runs inside the room quickly.

OTIS:Guys, we have a problem!

CUT TO:

INT. CAMERAS – NIGHT

Frank, Brad, Jessie, Isabella, and Otis all turn their attention to the cameras. The camera watching the large lawn shows an army vehicle with three escaped prisoners inside it, gunning down zombies with a .50 caliber machine gun.

BRAD GARRISON:Do they know if we’re hiding in here?

OTIS:I don’t think so!

FRANK WEST:Should we be thanking them since they’re killing a bunch of them?

OTIS:I don’t know, but they could drive through here.

ISABELLA KEYES:That doesn’t matter because we’re safe up here!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:They’ll let more in and that’ll lead them through here.

The camera concentrates on Frank and he thinks in a montage of flashbacks and realizes that dead zombies lead to more zombies.

FRANK WEST:We have to hurry up and get this solved, soon. Otherwise, we’re

all fucked!

BRAD GARRISON:Why do you say that?

FRANK WEST:I’ve killed at least a hundred of those things already and the

more I kill; the more replacements show up. Pretty soon, they’ll be coming in here! I mean, we have to be careful considering that

door over there can lead them in.

ISABELLA KEYES:We need to try fire.

BRAD GARRISON:What?

FRANK WEST:How’s that going to help?

ISABELLA KEYES:When the infection spread, we burned the bodies and the rest

couldn’t tell.

FRANK WEST:There are plenty of propane tanks in the home improvement store

near the construction area.

BRAD GARRISON:Okay, grab Warren and Bill! Tell them to grab some guns and get

ready! Isabella, you’re going to lead us!

CUT TO:

EXT. ROOFTOP – DAWN

Brad, Frank, Bill, Warren, and Isabella all walk onto the roof while the sun prepares to rise. Frank is armed with a 9mm pistol, Brad is armed with his Sig Sauer and a pump-action shotgun, Bill is armed with his .44 and a pistol-gripped automatic shotgun, Warren is armed with a .38 magnum, and Isabella is armed with an axe. They approach the elevator and wait for it to rise. The elevator door opens and all five are shocked.

WARREN:Oh, shit!

CUT TO:

INT. ELEVATOR – DAWN

There are six zombies standing and charging toward them. Bullets are heard being fired and their arms are blown off, their chests are blown open, their brains are blown out, and their heads are blown off.

CUT BACK TO:

EXT. ROOFTOP – DAWN

Warren, Frank, Brad, and Bill all reload their weapons.

ISABELLA KEYES:We have to get rid of their corpses!

BILL:Why do we have to do that?

FRANK WEST:First of all: you don’t want to ride in an elevator with six

shot-up corpses; and second: the dead bodies will just bring more into the elevator.

A high angle wide-shot shows the five survivors lifting the corpses out of the elevator.

CUT TO:

EXT. PARKING LOT – DAWN

The bodies are shown in a low-angle shot being thrown out into the zombie infested parking lot.

CUT TO:

INT. STORAGE ROOM – DAWN

The five wander into the dusty storage room and find three zombies in there, moaning and walking as if they were sleepwalking. Frank shoots all three in the forehead and their blood and brains burst through the other side.

ISABELLA KEYES:More are going to come now!

FRANK WEST:I know, but we have to do what we can.

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

The sun is now shining bright over the sky. The Hummer with the three escaped convicts in it is speeding throughout the lawn, blowing several zombies into bloody pieces. The driver of the Hummer rams it into a zombie and the gunner blows it into pieces, splattering its remains on the front of the windshield.

CUT TO:


Brad, Frank, Bill, Warren, and Isabella stop in the middle of the construction site. They find several zombies several feet away from them and quickly try to devise a plan.

BRAD GARRISON:According to a map, there’s a shower-installing store around the

corner. We meet there in fifteen!

FRANK WEST:What do you want us to do?

BRAD GARRISON:I need you to take Warren and Bill into the home improvement

store to get the propane tanks! Isabella will take me to find the case files.

They then split up into their own teams and fight their ways through the zombies to reach their destinations.

CUT TO:

INT. CARLITO’S HIDEOUT – DAY

The walls are black and there are small white lanterns brightening up the hideout. There are blueprints of the mall and a laptop computer requiring a password.

BRAD GARRISON:What’s he doing with all these blueprints?

ISABELLA KEYES:To help him guide around!

BRAD GARRISON:Most of them are for the parking tunnels underneath the mall.

Isabella looks and finds several notes of information about the zombies, the parking tunnels, vehicles underneath the parking tunnels, and empty ceiled cases.

ISABELLA KEYES:He’s going to release the virus through the tunnel!

BRAD GARRISON:But what good would that do for him? Everyone is infected!

ISABELLA KEYES:The tunnels are linked to the sewer drain, which can lead to

outside the city.

BRAD GARRISON:We have to find out what time!

Isabella scatters through the files to figure out what time.

CUT TO:

INT. HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE – DAY

The bodies are still hanging upside down and rotting worse than before. Brad and Warren are packing up propane tanks in their bags while Frank is holding a shotgun and blowing zombies away. He then runs out of ammo.

FRANK WEST:I’m out!

BILL:Take this!

Bill quickly hands Frank his magnum. Frank fires a round blowing a zombie’s head into pieces. The bullet then goes through another zombie’s head blowing it to pieces. Frank then realizes he is out of ammo. He quickly looks for weapons and finds a steel sledgehammer. He picks it up and starts busting zombie’s heads open and splattering gallons of blood.

FRANK WEST:We need to get out of here!

CUT BACK TO:


BRAD GARRISON:We need to get out of here. Pack up what you can!

Isabella and Frank quickly pack up all files and Carlito’s laptop.

CUT TO:

INT. SHOWER STORE – DAY

All five meet up inside the shower store. There are several showerheads hanging on display and no zombies in site.

FRANK WEST:What all did you find?

BRAD GARRISON:We found a computer that needs to be hacked and we also found out

that Carlito is going to unleash the virus through the sewer system and outside the city.

FRANK WEST:How’s he going to do that?

BRAD GARRISON:We know he planted the bombs down in the tunnel but we don’t know

where.

ISABELLA KEYES:Do you know how to hack a computer?

FRANK WEST:Yeah, but I don’t think this is the best place.

BRAD GARRISON:How many tanks did you guys get?

BILL:Four!

A zombie is shown with no legs crawling behind bill. It bites Bill’s Achilles tendon in half and he screams in pain and collapses to the ground. Brad quickly draws his handgun and kills the zombie. Warren and Isabella turn to Bill and try to help him.

ISABELLA KEYES:What happened?

BILL:(Screaming in pain)

That thing bit my leg!

WARREN:Calm down! We’ll help you.

BILL:Fuck help! Just leave me here!

FRANK WEST:Bill, we can’t just leave you here. You have to-

A zombie pops up and corners Frank to a wall. Frank struggles with it and grabs a long golden showerhead and impales it through the zombie’s skull. Gallons of blood then pump and spray through the fountain of the showerhead. Brad runs over to Frank.

BRAD GARRISON:Are you okay?

FRANK WEST:Yeah, I’m fine!

ISABELLA KEYES:How are we going to get back? With Frank wounded and that truck shooting everything in site, what can we do to get back to the

roof?

BILL:Go to the gun store and get a sniper rifle then snipe them out!

FRANK WEST:That’s not a bad idea.

BRAD GARRISON:What about those things?

FRANK WEST:

We’ll use a tank to blow them away.

ISABELLA KEYES:What about Bill?

Frank turns his attention to bill.

FRANK WEST:It’s your call! I’m not going to force you up and drag your ass

back if you don’t want to.

Bill draws a .45.

BILL: Leave me a propane tank with the doors open!

CUT TO:


Frank rolls one of the propane tanks down the hall leading to the gun store. Brad than loads a bullet into his chamber.

FRANK WEST:Can you make that shot?

BRAD GARRISON:Yeah!

Brad fires a bullet from a distance and makes the shot. The tank explodes and kills a number of zombies surrounding the hallway. The hall is now lit on fire with burning corpses infesting it.

FRANK WEST:Let’s go!

CUT TO:

INT. GUN STORE – DAY

Brad, Frank, Isabella, and Warren all grab more guns and load them with bullets.

BRAD GARRISON:Warren, you work in the mall. How can we get to the roof?

WARREN:

We can bust out part of the ceiling and climb through it to the roof.

CUT TO:

EXT. SHOPPING CENTER E ROOFTOP – DAY

Brad cocks a bullet into the chamber of a sniper rifle and looks through the scope.

FRANK WEST:Do you see them?

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

The scene is filmed through a sniper scope and it shows the Hummer driving around continuing to blow zombies away.

CUT BACK TO:


BRAD GARRISON:Yeah, and I’m going to take out the driver!

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

A bullet is shown striking through a windshield and splattering the driver’s brains on a window. The Hummer swirls out of control until the passenger takes control.

BRAD GARRISON:Damn!

FRANK WEST:What happened?

CUT BACK TO:


BRAD GARRISON:The passenger took control.

FRANK WEST:Then shoot him!

BRAD GARRISON:I’m taking out the gunner, first.

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

The gunner is shown getting shot in the shoulder by Brad and he falls out of the Hummer into a crowd of zombies. He than gets ripped in half by the zombies and they feast on him. The blood and guts bleach the green grass red.

BRAD GARRISON:The gunner is down!

The driver tries to drive to safety. Brad shoots out the back tire and the Hummer crashes into a wall.

CUT TO:

INT. HUMMER – DAY

The driver’s head is bleeding from the crash. He panics as he sees zombies approaching the car. They break through the windows and try to grab him. One grabs his hair and yanks his head off. Blood sprays profusely through his stump.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER E ROOFTOP – DAY

Frank’s phone begins to ring and he answers it.

FRANK WEST:Otis?

OTIS:(V.O.)

Frank, Jessie told me to call you and tell you she found Carlito in the parking tunnels.

FRANK WEST: Did she say what he’s doing?

OTIS:(V.O.)

He was driving through in a moving truck. He’s moving some kind of cargo.

Frank hangs up.

BRAD GARRISON:Who was that?

FRANK WEST:It was Otis! He said that Carlito is moving the bombs in the

tunnels.

ISABELLA KEYES:We got to stop him! I can try to talk to him.

BRAD GARRISON:That won’t work! You even said he’s pissed. Besides, how would we

get through all of those?

FRANK WEST:What about the propane tanks?

Frank and Warren then throw the propane tanks down into the lawn. Brad then shoots them one by one and several zombies explode into flames.

FRANK WEST:Now we can go down.

BRAD GARRISON:Okay, you and Isabella are coming with me! Warren, I need you to

wait up here, okay?

WARREN:Fuck that! I want to come with you guys.

FRANK WEST:You can’t, kid! You’ll get yourself killed!

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

Frank, Brad, and Isabella are shown walking through the lawn, which is now lit in small flames with several dead burning zombies. Frank looks far ahead and sees more coming slowly.

FRANK WEST:We have to hurry!

The three then start running.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. SHOWER STORE – DAY

Bill is shown appearing more sick and bleeding to death from his wound. He sees a small pack of zombies walking in. He then locks the hammer back on his pistol and shoots the propane tank.

CUT TO:


The explosion is loud and flames are shown bursting out of the store and through the halls.

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

Flames burst through the glass door entrances of Shopping Center E.

CUT TO:

EXT. BACK PARKING LOT – DAY

Frank, Brad, and Isabella find no zombies present in the parking lot. However, they notice some wandering through the underground parking tunnels.

FRANK WEST:There’s going to be more down there!

BRAD GARRISON:How do we get down there, now?

Isabella smashes out a window to a car with the grip to her pistol.

ISABELLA KEYES:We’ll drive down there!

CUT TO:

INT. CAR – DAY

Brad is driving while Frank is in the backseat, patrolling all sides with a shotgun. Isabella is in the passenger seat trying to hack the computer.

CUT TO:

INT. PARKING TUNNELS – DAY

The tunnels are filled top to bottom with zombies. Brad tries to drive but moves very slow through the tunnel. The zombies press up towards the glass but don’t break in.

FRANK WEST:We need to speed up!

BRAD GARRISON:How do we do that?

ISABELLA KEYES:I’m in!

Isabella browses through Carlito’s computer files.

ISABELLA KEYES:There are four bombs, one in each corner of the tunnels.

BRAD GARRISON:So, that means there’s got to be one around the corner.

CUT TO:

INT. SECTION A – DAY

There are a few zombies in this parking lot with no clue that Frank, Brad, and Isabella are there. They get out of their car real quick and find a storage truck with one of the bombs inside. They open the doors and Brad quickly disarms it.

BRAD GARRISON:

You’d figure that a terrorist has better bombs.

The three get back in the car and continue driving. A zombie tries smashing through a window but Brad shoots it in the head. They then continue to drive. A horn is heard being honked. Frank looks out the back window and sees Carlito crushing zombies with the truck while throwing hand grenades through the window, blowing them up into pieces.

FRANK WEST:Brad, step on it!

Brad continues to drive in a hurry. He drives through the swarm of zombies while Carlito is chasing after them. Zombies are getting crushed into pools of blood as Carlito is running them over.

CUT TO:

INT. SECTION B – DAY

Brad runs out of the car and opens the doors to the truck to disarm the bomb. Frank covers Brad with a shotgun.

FRANK WEST:Hurry! He’s coming!

Carlito drives toward Frank. Frank starts blasting at Carlito’s windshield, causing him to collide into a solid wall. Brad disarms the bomb and they get back in the car. Frank walks over and tries to shoot Carlito but Isabella stops him.

ISABELLA KEYES:Don’t kill him!

FRANK WEST:He’s trying to kill us, though!

Carlito draws his .45 and opens fire on Frank and Isabella as they run quickly back to the car.

BRAD GARRISON:We have to get to Section C!

They drive through the large crowd of zombies in the tunnels, running them over one by one.

CUT TO:

INT. SECTION C – DAY

This is the last bomb to be disarmed. Frank gets out and covers Brad while he disarms the bomb. Carlito is angry and drives over and opens fire on them. Brad disarms the bomb but he is shot in the shoulder. Frank continues firing but runs out of ammo.

BRAD GARRISON:Get out of here! I’ll be fine!

Frank and Isabella leave Brad behind while Carlito and Brad have a shootout. Carlito shoots Brad in the stomach and he tries to get away while covering his wound. Brad turns around and finds several zombies approaching him. He tries to shoot himself but finds he has no more ammo.

BRAD GARRISON:Damn!

The camera zooms out and the zombies corner Brad as the scene ends.

FADE TO BLACK:

FADE IN:


Frank is sitting in a chair, feeling sad about Bill and Brad dying.

CUT TO:

EXT. ROOFTOP – NIGHT

Isabella is shown standing on the rooftop, thinking of codes to hack into Carlito’s computer. A bright blue lantern is used to light up the roof. The zombies moaning can be heard.

CUT TO:

INT. CAMERAS – NIGHT

Jessie and Otis watch the monitors and try to track Carlito down. Frank enters the room drinking a gallon of orange juice and sits next to them.

FRANK WEST:You guys find anything, yet?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:No! We can’t find Brad or Carlito on the cameras.

OTIS:It’s so weird!

FRANK WEST:What is?

OTIS:(Pointing to a monitor)

If you look at this monitor, you see that they’re all trying to break into the butcher’s. Why would they all surround the

butcher’s if there’s no one there?

FRANK WEST:What if there’s someone there and we don’t know?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:It could be Brad!

FRANK WEST:It could be Carlito!

OTIS:Can you go find out?

FRANK WEST:Yeah! I’ll go look. Are there any guns left?

CUT TO:

INT. CLOSET – NIGHT

Frank walks and enters the closet where Warren and Barnaby are. The camera is a medium shot of Frank walking in.

FRANK WEST:Guys, do you have any guns?

Frank looks in shock and the camera quickly zooms in on Barnaby eating Warren alive. He is eating the flesh off his neck and drinking the blood. Barnaby is half human, unlike the other zombies.

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:Don’t kill me, Frank!

FRANK WEST:What the hell?

CUT TO:

INT. MONITORS – NIGHT

Jessie sees what is happening in the closet and rushes over.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. CLOSET – NIGHT

JESSIE MCCARNEY:What the hell is going on?

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:(Crying)

Don’t kill me! I can’t help it!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:We’re not going to kill you! We just want to talk up on the

helipad.

FRANK WEST:I need your gun!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Why?

FRANK WEST:Warren could come back and kill us!

Jessie hands her gun to Frank.

CUT TO:

A bright flash is shown and a loud bang is heard; both coming from the closet. It is applied that Frank killed Warren.

CUT TO:

EXT. HELIPAD – NIGHT

Green neon lights brighten the helipad as Frank, Isabella, and Jessie are interrogating Barnaby. Barnaby is trying to control his hunger.

FRANK WEST:What the fuck are you?

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:I’m human! I injected the virus into myself in order to see what

the effects were.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:How did you get a hold of the virus?

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:(Pointing to Isabella)

I was a part of the massacre in her village. I found one of the dead bees in a jar and snuck it back to my lab. I was able to inject the blood from its stinger into myself. Ever since then,

I’ve been craving blood.

ISABELLA KEYES:Why didn’t you tell us? Because of you, Warren is dead!

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:I was in control! I don’t even know how it happened!

FRANK WEST:Well, we could have helped.

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:By doing what, blowing my head off?

FRANK WEST:(Sarcastically)

It would’ve helped us, though.

Barnaby slowly walks toward the edge and looks down on the packs of zombies.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Doctor Barnaby, what are you doing?

FRANK WEST:Doc!

Barnaby continues to ignore them and plans to jump.

FRANK WEST:Get your ass back here!

Barnaby turns his attention to Frank.

DR. RUSSEL BARNABY:You want me to eat you or do you want to find a cure? This is the

only way!

ISABELLA KEYES:But wait!

Before Isabella can ask Barnaby her question, he leaps off the roof. The camera is in a high angle and pans down into the parking lot where a ring of zombies surround Barnaby’s corpse.

FRANK WEST:What are we going to do now? He had answers!

ISABELLA KEYES:You need to get to the butcher’s! Carlito and Brad can be alive

to help.

CUT TO:

INT. MONITORS – NIGHTFrank quickly walks in to talk to Otis.

FRANK WEST:Otis, is there any other way to get inside the butcher’s?

OTIS:No, those doors are the only way!

FRANK WEST:There’s like a hundred of those things surrounding the door,

though.

Frank looks down and finds the crashed Hummer. He then decides to try and take the Hummer.

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – NIGHT

Frank runs quickly through the lawn and finds only a few zombies in site. He then finds the Hummer with the front end dented and blood covering the windshield.

CUT TO:

INT. HUMMER – NIGHT

Frank starts up the Hummer and reverses.

CUT BACK TO:

EXT. LAWN – NIGHT

The camera zooms out into an extreme wide-shot and the only can be seen are white headlights driving through a small crowd of zombies.

CUT TO:

EXT. BACK PARKING LOT – NIGHT

Frank drives and finds zombies making their way into the underground tunnels. He stops and gets up through the sunroof and cocks back the machine gun. He then begins blowing holes through the backs of the zombies. One zombie is blown in half from the gunfire. Another zombie’s head is blown into pieces.

CUT TO:

INT. UNDERGROUND TUNNEL – NIGHT

Frank drives in and finds them going toward the butcher’s.

FRANK WEST:What the hell is going on?

Frank drives through the zombies and gets to the doors. He finds more surrounding the doors. He gets in the sunroof and uses the gun to shoot down more zombies. Some are blown into pieces, some

are blown into the solid walls, and some are only wounded. Frank finally is able to get inside as he walks through the puddles of blood.

CUT TO:

INT. SAM’S MEAT MARKET – NIGHT

Frank walks inside and the meat market is quiet. He hears the meat-grinder running and he slowly explores through the meat market. He then walks in and finds Sam grinding dead zombies through the machine. He looks up and sees Frank.

SAM:How may I help you, today?

FRANK WEST:I’m looking for a South American man named Carlito Keyes.

SAM:All employees have gone on indefinite suspension. Would you like

some meat? What’s your preference?

FRANK WEST:No! Can you help me find him?

Frank looks to his right and finds a wounded Carlito hung on a hook, moving slowly toward the meat grinder.

SAM:Let me serve you!

FRANK WEST:I don’t want any meat!

SAM:Let me make it fresh!

Sam takes Carlito and is about to slide him into the grinder. Frank quickly draws his gun.

FRANK WEST:Drop him!

Sam turns over and looks at him with an evil smile.

SAM:

A new meat could sell.

Sam grabs a meat cleaver and approaches Frank. Frank then fires a round into Sam’s shoulder. It seems to not hurt him and he approaches Frank. Frank then shoots him twice in the stomach but it still doesn’t affect him. Frank shoots out one of the ceiling lights and it smacks Sam in the face. He looks around and finds Carlito wounded and barely alive. He runs over to him.

FRANK WEST:Carlito, I need to know what your password is!

CARLITO KEYES:Behind you!

Frank looks behind and dodges a cleaver swing from Sam. He shoots Sam in the forehead and he falls back. Sam is still alive but can’t see. Frank gets up and tackles Sam into the meat grinder and it grinds him into pieces. The machine spits out his flesh, blood, and bones. Frank then runs over to Carlito.

FRANK WEST:Carlito, what’s the password to your computer?

CARLITO KEYES:It’s-

Carlito eyes shut. Frank slaps him to get him to wake up.

FRANK WEST:What is your password?

CARLITO KEYES:(Talking weak and quiet)

“Isabella!”

Carlito dies shortly and Frank leaves.

DISSOLVE TO:


Zombies roam throughout the mall and get inside through the back doors and bang on the doors of the control room.

CUT TO:

Jessie and Isabella nervously watch the door. Otis is sitting calmly and seems to expect the zombies breaking in. Frank enters.

FRANK WEST:Carlito’s dead!

Isabella doesn’t show emotion.

FRANK WEST:You okay?

ISABELLA KEYES:Yes!

FRANK WEST:I got the password!

ISABELLA KEYES:What is it?

FRANK WEST:Your name!

CUT TO:

INT. MONITORS – NIGHT

Otis watches the monitors while Frank and Isabella hack into the computer. Isabella is shown accessing a file showing images of eight children from her village.

ISABELLA KEYES:My god!

FRANK WEST:What is it?

ISABELLA KEYES:He did experiments with them!

FRANK WEST:Are they still alive?

ISABELLA KEYES:

Yes, he got them out before the genocide. There’s a list of cities underneath. Manhattan, Portland, Dallas, Tampa; he’s moved

them to those cities!

Frank starts to lose his temper.

CUT TO:


Frank walks in quickly to Jessie.

FRANK WEST:Jessie, you need to call your agency and let them know the virus

has spread!

JESSIE MCCARNEY:What do you mean?

FRANK WEST:He took eight kids and infected them with the bees then he put

them all over the country.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:If I call, we can get the kids before they spread the virus.

FRANK WEST:Do it quick!

Jessie calls the agency.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:This is Agent Mccarney, Agent Garrison and Carlito Keyes are dead! We need evacuation immediately. We’ve found new evidence involving the virus… what do you mean? We have innocent people…

The phone line is heard disconnecting.

JESSIE MCCARNEY:They’re coming for extermination.

FRANK WEST:What are you talking about?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:They’re going to wipe out all infected and uninfected!

Frank throws the chair angrily.

ISABELLA KEYES:Frank, if we can get back to Carlito’s hideout then we can find

enough items for a cure.

FRANK WEST:What do we need?

ISABELLA KEYES:We need one of the bees and some medical supplies.

CUT TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER E – DAWN

Frank and Isabella walk in and find there are only a few zombies inside. They look around and Frank finds a large jackhammer drill.

FRANK WEST:I guess this will have to do.

Frank picks it up and prepares to use it as a weapon.

FRANK WEST:Go pick up the supplies and I’ll stay here to make sure none show

up.

Isabella crawls up into Carlito’s hideout.

CUT TO:

EXT. WILLAMETTE – DAWN

The town’s streets are covered with blood. There are few zombies wandering through the streets. Loud helicopter blades are heard and silent gunshots are heard as bullets hit the zombies in their heads and kill them.

CUT TO:

EXT. BUILDING ROOFTOPS – DAWN

There are several different shots of the marine snipers going into their positions on the roofs.

EXT. STREETS – DAWN

Several Military vehicles are shown driving through town with machine gunners locked and loaded.

CUT TO:

EXT. SKY – DAWN

Four Black Hawk helicopters are shown flying to the mall.

CUT TO:

INT. CARLITO’S HIDEOUT – DAWN

Isabella examines the hideout, trying to find the bees. She finds a jar with four bees inside and she takes them.

CUT TO:

INT. SHOPPING CENTER E – DAWN

Isabella climbs down the ladder and Frank slowly approaches her.

FRANK WEST:Did you find them?

ISABELLA KEYES:Yeah!

FRANK WEST:Good, we have to hurry and get out of here!

Frank and Isabella hurry outside and hear helicopters approaching the mall.

CUT TO:

EXT. MAIN PARKING LOT – DAY

A helicopter unloads between fifteen and twenty soldiers. They are heavily dressed in body armor and are armed with scoped M4s. The soldiers turn on their laser-sights and open fire, blowing the brains out of several zombies. They move forward as they kill more and more.

EXT. SHOPPING CENTER A ROOFTOP – DAY

A helicopter drops off more soldiers on a rooftop. They aim their laser-sights through the roof windows and kill all zombies through the floor. They then set up a small bomb on the roof and blow it into pieces. After this, they slide down on ropes into the mall.

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

The last two helicopters drop off the soldiers in the lawn. They enter and search for zombies.

RADIO:(V.O.)

Make sure to kill anything moving in site over the next half hour then call in an air strike!

COMMANDER:Roger!

CUT TO:


FRANK WEST:We have to get away from them!

They run down the hall where the gun store is. They look and find a zombie approaching them and a few blocking the hall entrance.

ISABELLA KEYES:What are we going to do?

FRANK WEST:Get in the store and wait!

ISABELLA KEYES:But-

FRANK WEST:(Interrupting Isabella)

Just do it!

Isabella runs inside the gun store and locks the doors. Frank starts the motor to the jackhammer drill and impales it through the zombie’s chest, shredding it apart. The zombie’s body is twitching while impaled by the drill and Frank aggressively throws it into another zombie. The impaled zombie splatters into a shower of blood and guts as it knocks into another zombie. The blood shower splatters and covers the other zombies. Frank then starts the motor again and slams the drill into another zombie’s head and rips it in half. The last standing zombie tries to attack Frank but he impales the zombie’s chest and through a wall. The drill is spinning in circles as the zombie tries to break free and blood is spraying from its ripped open chest. Its arms and legs twitch nonstop and slam into the wall so hard that they break off. Frank then walks back to Isabella and he is now covered head to toe in blood (once again).

FRANK WEST:We have to get out of here!

They run quickly and try to make it back to the control room.

CUT TO:


Jessie is sitting on a couch, nervously waiting. She hears the zombies moaning outside. Loud automatic bursts are heard and then a knock on the door is heard a few minutes later. Otis slowly opens the door and four marines march inside.

MARINE #1:(To Jessie)

Are you Jessie McCarney?

JESSIE MCCARNEY:Yes!

MARINE #1:Alright, we have her!

Another marine draws his rifle and fires a bullet into her chest.

OTIS:(Screams)

No!

The marine turns around and shoots him in the chest.

MARINE #2:Control room is clear!

CUT TO:

INT. MOVIE THEATER – DAY

The marines are shown killing the zombies inside the movie theater.

CUT TO:

INT. UNDERGROUND TUNNELS – DAY

Military Hummers drive throughout the tunnels and the machine gunners kill every walking zombie inside.

CUT TO:


Frank and Isabella hide quietly inside the hideout.

FRANK WEST:What are we going to do? The virus is spreading throughout

America, the marines are going to kill us, and I don’t think Ed will come pick us up.

ISABELLA KEYES:I should’ve talked Carlito out of this!

FRANK WEST:What good would that do? He would have done this anyway. We’re

fucked no matter what we do so don’t feel bad!

They then stop talking after they hear a marine crawling up the ladder. Frank grabs a solid pipe and hides in the shadows. The marine enters and finds Isabella and he slowly approaches her. Frank sneaks behind the marine and hits him in the back of the leg with the pipe. He then kicks him numerous times in his ribcage and takes his m4.

FRANK WEST:What is your mission?

The marine refuses to answer. Frank hits the marine in the gut with the stock of the rifle.

FRANK WEST:Answer me, asshole!

MARINE:We’re supposed to kill anything that moves.

FRANK WEST:When do you guys pull out?

MARINE:Fifteen minutes!

FRANK WEST:What happens after you guys pull out?

MARINE:An air strike is going to be ordered.

Frank hesitates then fires a round point blank into the marine. He then dials a number to call Ed.

CUT TO:

EXT. HILLS – DAY

Ed is standing on a green hill during the cloudy morning with his helicopter parked on the hill. He hears his phone ring and he goes to answer.

ED:Hello?

FRANK WEST:(V.O.)

Ed, get your ass over here! It’s only me and Carlito’s sister; everyone else is dead! Come pick us up, quickly!

ED:I’m on my way!

Ed hangs up and gets the helicopter ready for take-off.

CUT BACK TO:

FRANK WEST:We have to get out of here!

ISABELLA KEYES:I’m not going.

FRANK WEST:Why?

ISABELLA KEYES:What’s the point? We’re going to die either way.

FRANK WEST:I’m willing to take that risk. Last chance! Yes or no?

ISABELLA KEYES:(Pauses)

No!

Frank slowly leaves.

CUT TO:


Frank walks out and examines the shopping center with his rifle. He finds several dead zombies and he sees a marine running toward him. Frank then guns down the marine. He continues running through piles of dead zombies and the camera follows him outside.

CUT TO:

EXT. LAWN – DAY

The camera continues to follow Frank. Small bursts of gunfire are heard from far away and the camera zooms into medium shot 3rd person view. There are dead bloody zombies shown on the lawn. Frank then enters shopping center A.

The camera moves and gets a left angle medium shot 3rd person view of Frank running. The camera moves to the right as Frank quickly guns down another marine.

CUT TO:

INT. TOP LEVEL – DAY

Frank runs up the top level and looks out a window. He sees all choppers and Hummers leaving. He turns around and sees that he has five minutes to leave the mall.

CUT TO:


Frank walks in and finds everyone dead. He doesn’t take any time to stop and the camera follows him up to the helipad.

CUT TO:


Frank makes it to the helipad and sees Ed’s helicopter flying from far away.


That’s it hurry!

CUT TO:

INT. ED’S HELICOPTER – DAY

Ed is shown flying toward the helipad and he doesn’t know a zombie is behind him. The zombie sneaks behind him and bites his neck, causing Ed to lose control and crash into the parking lot.

CUT BACK TO:


Frank’s hopes are brought down as he sees fighter jets flying quickly and get ready to blow the mall to pieces.

FADE TO BLACK:

Frank is heard screaming and loud explosions are heard.

FADE IN:

Several cities are shown throughout the United States with newspapers covering the streets, noting that the virus has spread throughout. The camera pans up and we see zombies roaming throughout the cities.

FADE TO:

END CREDITS

“Shrinking Universe” and “Living Dead Girl” play during the end credits. The end credits show the text in white bold letters with red blood splattering down the text. The first text shown is the title Dead Rising.
