Transcript of DEA Making the Grade
DEA: Making the Grade in Every Way The members of the Deptford Education Association (DEA) routinely give of themselves to make the
Deptford schools and community a better place to live. Many people work hard to make this town the
best it can be, but few can match the time, effort, and dedication our members put forth beyond the
regular school day to make a difference in Deptford Township. Read on to see SOME of what we do…
Making the Grade — Through charity
DEA members give time, money, and labor
to help those in need:
Awarded over $53,000 in scholarships! Founded Pink Day and raised over $132,000 for cancer research! Raised over $40,000 for Relay for Life! Donated food, clothing and holiday gifts for Deptford families in need! Enter teams and raise money for the Heart Walk, Relay for Life, and the
Juvenile Diabetes Walk! Make and provide dinners for the Ronald McDonald House! Collected and donated silly string to help our troops overseas spot roadside
bombs! and much, much more…
Making the Grade — Through Community
DEA members are actively working to make Deptford a better place to live:
Sponsor a Deptford Township Soccer team! Promote youth cheerleading through our varsity program! Lead the marching band in the Deptford Day Parade! Schedule the jazz band to play on Deptford Day! Organize intergenerational dances! Organize and participate in PTO Family Fun Nights! Volunteer at Barnes and Noble to promote our One School-One Book
Initiative! Organize and present art exhibits and musical concerts at the Dept-
ford Mall!
and much, much more…
Making the Grade — Through Students
DEA members don’t just focus on academics. We develop the whole child. We get to know them and
treat them like they’re our own. We laugh with them; we cry with them; we cheer them on when they are
doing great, and help them back on their feet when they stumble and fall. We help them to see their po-
tential and show them how to grow into responsible adults. Take a look at how we help your child grow
beyond the classroom:
Organize and run the MMS Orientation night for incoming 7th graders! Mentor troubled and at risk students to help them make the right choices in life! Organize and run college/career nights for high school students! Run the Freshman Summer Transition Program! Lead the National Honor Society! Create highlight videos for student athletes who plan to attend college! Lead the Spartenettes Girls’ Club! Supervise the Robotics Team! Organize Career Day at Lake Tract Elementary School! Run the Pinwheel for Peace Project! Participate in Senior Awards and Class Night! Attend plays, concerts, shows and sporting events to support our students! Coordinate the Summer Book Fair! Organize and chaperone trips!
and much, much, more!
