French fries: Many Belgians believe that the term "French" was

introduced when American soldiers arrived in Belgium during World War I, and consequently tasted Belgian fries. They supposedly called them "French", as it was the official language of the Belgian Army at that time.

Chocolate: is a belgian invention, known all over the world. Everybody likes it. There are chocolates with a lot of different fillings. Make sure to buy some for your friends and families back home while you are here!

Beer: Belgium is known for its different variety of beers. Examples are Duvel,

Stella Artois, Jupiler, Maes, etc…

• Antwerpse handjes:little biscuits or

chocolates in the shape of little hands. You find them in Antwerp! They are delicious!

•Belgian waffle: a big waffle with whipped-cream

•Hotchpotch: a mixture of vegetables, meat and potatoes,

something very typically Flemish
