DCS: A10C WARTHOG STARTUP GUIDE First, set the battery switch on the electrical panel of the right side console to PWR (PWR). This will provide power to the DC buses and the APU. Now set the inverter switch on the same panel to STBY (stand by). This will allow power to be supplied to numerous aircraft instruments and to the engine igniters.

  • OntheOxygenRegulatorpanel,settheSUPPLYswitchtoONandcheckforoxygenflow.

  • PresstheOXYINDTEST(OxygenIndicatorTest)buttontotesttheoxygenremainingindicator.WatchfortheOXYLOWcautionlightontheCautionLightsPaneltoturnonwhentheindicationfallsbelow0.5liters.

  • PowertheradioontheleftsideconsoletocommunicatewithATCandmissionassets.SettheVHF/AMFrequencyModedialtoTR(Transceiver).

  • DothesamefortheVHF/FMradio.

  • SettheUHFradioFunctiondialtoMAINtopowertheUHFradio.

  • ClosethecanopybyrightclickingandholdingthecanopycontrolswitchorpressLEFTCTRL+C.

  • Itstimefortheenginestartsequence.First,providepowertotheboostpumpsontheleftandrightwingtanksandtheleftandrightfuselagetanks.SetthefourswitchesontheFuelSystemControlPaneltotheupposition.

  • StarttheleftenginebymovingtheleftthrottlefromOFFtoIDLEorpressRIGHTALT+HOME.Thiswillstartfuelflow,andusebleedairfromtheAPUtoturnthefansandignitethefuelinthecombustionchamber.Whiletheenginespoolsup,scantheEngineMonitoringInstrumentspaneltowatchtheEngineInterstageTurbineTemperature(ITT),EngineCoreSpeed,FanSpeed,andFuelFlowgauges.WatchforthecorefanRPMtostabilearound60%whileidlingontheground.Thelefthydraulicpressureshouldnormalizebetween28003350PSI.RepeattheaboveprocesswiththerightenginebymovingtherightthrottlefromOFFtoIDLEorpressRIGHTCTRL+HOME.Oncetheenginesareidlingnormally,checkyourflightcontrolsrudderinput,speedbrakes,andflaps.NowturnoftheAPUgeneratorontheElectricalpanel,andTurnofftheAPUontheThrottlepanel.Ontherightsidepanel,poweruptheControlDisplayUnit(CDU)andEmbedded

  • GPS/INS(EGI)systems.ThiswillbegintheautomatedBuiltinTest(BIT)andthealignmentprocessforthenavigationsystemswhichcanbemonitoredontheCDUdisplay.NotethattheNAV/INSalignmentprocesstakesabout4minutes.***Donotmovetheplaneuntilithascompleted***

    UncagetheStandbyAttitudeIndicator(SAI)onthefrontdash.Todothis,turntheknobtotheleftbyrollingyourmousewheeldownovertheknob.Onceuncaged,rollthewheelbacktosettheSAIaircraftindicatorlevelonthehorizon.

  • WhilewaitingfortheCDUBITandEGIalignmentprocesstocomplete,wecanproceedthroughthestartupsequence.TurnontheCentralInterfaceControlUnit(CICU)ontheArmamentHUDControlPanel(AHCP)onthefrontdash.Thiswillprovideessentialuserinterfacecontrolstonumerousaircraftsystems,includingtheleftandrightMultiFunctionDisplays(MFCDs).

  • WhentheMFCDswarmuptheywilldisplaytheDataTransferSystem(DTS)page,whichwewillusetotheuploadnavigationandweaponconfigurationdatasavedonthedatacartridgefromthemissionplanner.NowsettheIntegratedFlightandFireControlComputer(IFFCC)switchtoTESTbyleftclickingonce.TheIFFCCprovidesweaponreleasecalculations,attitudecontrolandHUDindication.

  • PresstheENT(enter)buttonontheUpFrontController(UFC)toinitiatetheIFFCCBIT.Thiswilltakeaboutaminute.

  • Ontheleftpanel,settheleftandrightYawandPitchchannelsontheSASpaneltoON.

  • PresstheT/OTRIM(takeofftrim)buttontosettheflightcontrolsfortakeofftrim.

  • Timetouploadthedatacartridge.SelectLOADALLontheleftMFCDbypressingOptionSelectButton(OSB)10.

  • Oncethedataisloaded(about15seconds),settherightMFCDtodisplayCDUdatabypressingOSB13.

  • WhentheIFFCCBITiscomplete,presstheENTkeyontheUFC.TheIFFCCshoulddisplaytheGROUNDBITmenuontheHUD.PresstheSEL(Select)rockerkeyontheUFCdownuntiltheHUDcursorpointstoEXIT.PressENTtoexit.TheIFFCCisnowdisplayingtheMainMenuontheHUDwhereyoucansetupvariousindicationandweaponreleaseparameters.TaketheIFFCCoutoftestmodeandsetittoon.SettheleftMFCDtotheTacticalAwarenessDisplay(TAD)pagebypressingOSB15.

  • Loaduptheflightplan.Ontherightpanel,rightclicktheSTEERPT(steerpoint)switchontheAAPpaneltosetittoFL.PLAN.ThiswillsettheflightroutetoappearontheTADdisplay.

  • Withtheflightandnavigationsystemsready,wecanpreparesomeofthecombatsystemsforthemission.SettheCountermeasuresSignalProcessor(CMSP)modeswitchontheCMSPpaneltoSTBY(standby).AlsosetthesetthefourSystemSelectSwitchestoON(middleposition).

  • SettheJointTacticalRadioSystem(JTRS)switchontheAHCPtoON.ThiswillprovidepowertotheSituationalAwarenessDatalink(SADL).

  • WhentheNAVsystemhasfinishedaligningyoucanselectCDUNAVmodebypressingOSB9ontherightMFCD.YoumustwaituntiltheCDUdisplayreadsT=4.0.0.8beforeselectingNAVmodeoryouwillnotbeabletoactivatetheEACinthenextstep.

  • ArmtheEnhancedAttitudeControl(EAC)switchontheLowAltitudeSafetyandTargetingEnhancement(LASTE)panelontheleftconsole.

  • Turnontheradaraltimeter.

  • SettheantiskidswitchtoON.

    TurnontheNosewheelsteeringbypressingthepinkybuttononthecontrolstickorINSERTkeyonthekeyboard.Clicktheyellowhandleontheejectionseat.

  • Getpermissionfromthetowertotakeoffandgokillsomething!
