Something we kept in mind throughout:
THIS SHOULD BE A NEW TYPE OF IDENTITY FOR A NEW TYPE OF PRODUCT.
The Air-bearing:
Pressurised air is used to suspend the pod within a tube to create a low friction surface propulsion method.
Time/Speed
30 minutes to get from Los Angeles – LA. 760 mph – (1,220 kph, Mach 0.91 at 68 ºF or 20 ºC).
Structure of Tube vs The Pod
Working symbiotically with engines of both in the pod and in the linign of the tube.
Open-Source + Social Function
From the beginning all information concerning Hyperloop was freely available to allow collaboration and a beneficial meeting of minds. This created a sense of a product by the people, for the people.

CONCEPT 1 : Connectivity
I looked into the branding for public transport, the simplicity of the logo’s and the universal applications to which the simple forms could be put was both inspiring and intriguing. The purpose of the transport is to get from A to B in an efficient and fast way. The continuous line throughout the design suggests the connection from one location to the next, in an effortless and effective way. The smooth curves help connote the smooth new tech that enables this form of transport to be so effective.

CONCEPT 2 : Functionality
Research into the funding, design and creation of the Hyperloop project illuminated the open source and collaborative approach that all participants took. This transparency of intentions speaks of honesty and should be highlighted if possible. Hyperloop is for the people by the people. The technology that this collaboration has produced is also incredible and how it works is a fascinating USP. These designs look to communicate the transparency of the project both technically and socially.

Research into representing speed in a different way, showing it through time rather than movement. In only taking 30 minutes to get from San Francisco to LA, this inconceivably little amount of time could be represented within the identity. The typeface comes from subtly showing the open-source technological aspects of the design whilst keeping it’s sleek retaining features. Furthermore, the journey route is shown in the links between the characters, displaying both precision and direction and progressiveness concurrently. Being a new type of identity for a new type of product, the fuctionality and progresisveness is also shown in the different practical applications of the logo.
