It is with great pleasure that I welcome the new launch of our newsletter Dazzling Times. It is important to all of us here at Dazzle to be sure the roads to communication are opened and accessible. The Dazzling Times will ensure such communication between the supports at Dazzle and the families who receive them as well as our fellow agencies we continue to work

alongside on a daily basis. Dazzle is experiencing a growing spurt that promises additional programs and a new program building which we are very excited about. We also invite our families to come and visit our new, all inclusive playground which was built on April 13th of 2013. Our individuals are truly enjoying their new play space. Come one, Come all, Come shine, at Dazzle.

MEET THE STAFF

Melissa SchwartzHello Everyone. I*m Melissa Schwartz and I*m the Executive Assistant/Team Lead/ and Direct Care Specialist here at Dazzle. I started in May of last year as an intern. Currently I am working on fire safety with the kids. We have begun talking about what to do if there*s a fire and having monthly fire drills. I plan to expand and teach about general household and personal safety. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and reading.

Bro Louis (Louis Shelton)First off let me say thank you for the opportunity to not only teachyour bundle of joy but also to grow with them. In my year at TheDazzle School I have established many things and have seen growth in all of the student minor and major. Utilizing the blooms taxonomy method while facilitating conversations helps with there critical thinking skills. So parents let`s sit down and help create creative minds because with creativity there are no limits.FYI my word of the month is TRAMS (Spell it back words) lol

Sharon AllenMy name is Sharon I am the Head Kitchen Person here at Dazzle School. June is here and school is coming to an end for the summer. But Dazzle will Be getting ready for the summer too. We are open all day. Which Foodlink changes to for the summer. They will be giving us cold lunches. They send us healthy food. They send us a snack too. I give them their other meals. During the Summer We have kids that are here all day and some that only come part of the day. I go to inservices for Foodlink and Dazzle .I have a lot of certificates from them them.Matt Darby My Name is Matt Darby. I have served your children at Dazzle for three years. They are always a challenge and I am encouraged as I see them learn and grow. I have worked with children most of my life and I find that our individuals keep me on my toes and help me to appreciate the little things in life. I give them a taste of the differences in others perspectives with drawing, story reading, and various types of dramatics such as puppetry.

Jaelin GrossMy name is Jaelen. I am a creative and outgoing person.I like to get through to our Individuals as persons. I started out as an Intern. I heard about this job through a program that I was in. I got hired afterwords when Anne saw me doing well. I have done daily lessons with the groups. I have been here since October and I like working with the Kids. Working here is different, I never knew how much I would enjoy working with the individuals and their different personalities.

Rae`Anna RashMy name is Rae'Anna, I started in April during Spring Break, I got to know the kids and became involved in all the activities. My time here has taught me to be more creative. I help with video production here, along with Matt.

Juliza DeJesusAlong with Melissa I am Anne's Right Hand Woman, I keep track of Records and Documents, act as a receptionist, Coordinate the Office and keep Dazzle running in tip top shape. I also Translate communications into Spanish. Just call me Anne's “Gal Friday”Britney Lawrence has been Juliza's Assistant this year and runs the front desk in the evenings.

DAZZLE'S NEW PLAYGROUNDOn April 13, 2013 with the help of volunteers, Wegmans, Kamboom/Snapple,we assembled a brand new, all inclusive playground across the street from Dazzle. The playground is fenced in and includes a gazebo, slides, piano and drums, monkey bars and ramp. With the weather getting nicer the kids have enjoyed playing on it after activities. We are very thankful to everyone who helped us and encouraging our physical play.

The playground includes a music Gazebo with Drums and keyboard

It includes a ramp for easier access. This means even less ambulatory people can still play on it.

Our individuals have lots of opportunity to climb, slide and play games here, or just relax in the fresh air.

Creative Activity for Families

This week when watching or listening to, or reading the news, why not have each family member make an observation about a particular news story that he or she noticed.

It need not be an in depth comment, what is important is having a conversation about something of importance and allowing family to understand each other a little more. You can do this by taking turns, or just by having a parent ask each person in turn what they thought of whatever the news item was.

Perhaps someone may even come up with a new way of seeing the world!
