Business Description cont.
DCC has about 240 golfing members and 550 overall members of the club
History of Dayton Country Club Designed in 1897 by Donald Ross Provided a place for people to
escape their everyday lives and enjoy diner or the casual round of golf
DCC has grown slowly over the years but is more of a generational club with membership staying with families for many years
Internship Description
I previously worked as a caddie at DCC so I sent my resume to the head professional Keith Fisher
June 14th – September 13th
Run the counter, prepare cart signs and scorecards for leagues and tournaments, rearrange the shop and put new merchandise out, and occasionally help out in the bag room
Internship Description
I learned how to use the tournament software, use the GHIN system, and the merchandising system
I participated in the twilight league a few times as well as the pro-stag event
I enjoyed being able to interact with the members
I disliked all of the down time there could be at times
Internship Description
DCC is 5 minutes from my house so its was very convenient location
The rate of pay was on the low side at $7.50 and hour but if I did work overtime that was paid
Malls, Movie theatre, Minor League Baseball, restaurants, and bars
Fantastic location
Conclusion
Definitely 10 out of 10 I would definitely repeat Fantastic learning experience
especially for you first internship because you grasp such a wide scope of all things that go on at the course and not just one specific avenue
Highly recommended to all PGM students
Conclusion
I learned how to be more of a patient person especially when working with the members
My expectations going into this internship were well met
I will not be returning because I will be living in Columbus this summer
I would tell Keith to delegate more tasks because there could be a lot of down time
Yes, I want to continue on this career path
