Day in the LifeFall 2010
What is Day In The Life?• A program associated with UVA Community Relations that recruits UVA students to help local youth establish and build respect for education to
promote academic excellence.
Tutoring
• Tutoring– Semester based– At least one hour a week, based on your schedule– Can be completed Mon thru Fri
Mentoring opportunities are available. For more information please contact, a Day In The Life Coordinator.

The Truth Is……the results of your involvement in DITL will
ripple across time and generations. It may not be obvious at the time, but you will
probably, say or do something which will influence a child’s life

Semester Sign-ups
• Held in front of Professor Bob Covert’s Office in the Curry School of Education (Ruffner Hall) Room 280– Thursday & Friday, September 2nd &
3rd
– From 9AM until 4PM– ***Be on time– ***Bring your schedule
Inclement Weather
• Any school closings will be listed on the Charlottesville City School website:– http://www.ccs.k12.va.us/– School closing hot line, 434-245-2401–Hours can be made up the following
week– *Contact your site supervisor
Networking Options
• Facebook• Car Pooling–Make friends in your classes or at your
site
• Bus system or Cycling• Walking –Winter weather, recommended at you
walk in pairs rather than alone. Be vigilant.
Sign in at your Sites
• Each site has a binder located either at the front desk or with your site supervisor.
• DO NOT FORGET TO SIGN IN!!!• If you do not sign in, you will not get
credit for you time at each site.• You must sign in weekly.• Any questions, ask your site
supervisor.
Orientations at your site
• Orientations will be offered at each of your site at specified dates & times.
• ONE formal orientation will be offered at the beginning of each semester.– Late orientations will be offered at the
discretion of your site supervisor, if any.
