the historic site. Check out the tales of spies and strategic deception. Friday 26th Avebury Rings & Manor House, National TrustThe World-famous stone circle and on-site museum at the heart of a prehistoric landscape are a delight for the visitor as, unlike Stonehenge, you can actually touch the stones. In the 1930s, the pretty village of Avebury, partially encompassed by the stone circle of this World Heritage Site, was witness to the excavations of archaeologist Alexander Keiller. Tuesday 18th Horse Drawn Canal Boat & MarlboroughStep back in time with us, as we head first to one of our favourite stopping places, Marlborough. In the afternoon we head to nearby Kintbury and board the 'Kennet Valley' horse drawn barge for a 2 hour cruise along the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal. Buckingham Palace, The State Rooms

In the Summer months the magnificent London residence of Her Majesty The Queen is opened to the public. The 19 lavishly decorated State Rooms are used extensively by Members of the Royal Family to receive and entertain their guests on State occasions. Some of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection are on display including paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Canaletto.

We shall have free time before entrance to the Palace and suggest you bring a packed lunch. The Garden Café which is located on the Western Terrace and overlooks the magnificent lawns, offers a selection of refreshments.

Friday 28th Avebury Rings & Manor House, National Trust

The World-famous stone circle and on-site museum at the heart of a prehistoric landscape are a delight for the visitor as, unlike Stonehenge, you can actually touch the stones. In the 1930s, the pretty village of Avebury, partially encompassed by the stone circle of this World Heritage Site, was witness to the excavations of archaeologist Alexander Keiller. Keiller opened the museum here to display his findings in the old stable building of Avebury Manor where he lived (Museum extra cost - free for NT members). In re-erecting many of the stones, Keiller uncovered the true wonder of one of the most important megalithic monuments in Europe. You can see his fascinating finds on display in the museum, still housed in the stables but now also in the 17th-century threshing barn.
