Using a soft stuffed animal, demonstrate to the children how to hold

and gently stroke an animal. Allow the children to practice gentle

touching and pass it on to their friends.

successfully memorized the quotation they may color in their

quotation sheet and insert it into their ‘My Virtues Growth Book’ folders.

3. Pose the conversation questions and encourage the children to share

their knowledge. Suggest relevant answers to conversation questions

if the children’s responses are inadequate (see Developing

Understanding).

4. Read ‘Virtues in Action’ Gentleness book and ask age-appropriate

questions.

5. Do the ‘Sleeping Baby’ role play:

The children pretend that they get home from school and a baby is

sleeping. They must enter the room, perform ‘a task’, and leave the

room quietly, so as to not wake the baby. The task can be getting a

book or a toy from the room, putting something in the room, etc.

6. Read/Tell an age-appropriate Gentleness story (Resource Material A).

2. Play ‘Gentleness’ quotation and sing along with actions to encourage

memorization.

3. Pose the conversation questions. Suggest relevant answers to

conversation questions if the children’s responses are inadequate

(see Developing Understanding).

4. In a sharing circle, encourage the children to take turns to explain their

sketches from the previous day and talk about how they have shown

Gentleness.

5. Do the ‘Nature Walk’ activity.

Go for a nature walk around the school grounds and invite the children

to sit under a tree. Ask them: “Where do you see or feel gentleness

around?” and “What does gentleness look like in nature?”

6. Review the song from lesson 6.

7. Read/Tell an age-appropriate Gentleness story (Resource Material A)

or retell one of the stories from lessons 1-9 that the children responded

well to. Through the story, restate and review the key messages about

Gentleness.

8. End the class.
