We look at the ayat where Allah (جل جلاله) commands the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) to make forgiveness from Surah Fussilat. The word fussilat means detailed explanation. The theme of the surah is responsibility of the message. (مسؤلية الرسالة).

Ayat 1 to 4 are about the Qur’an. Ayah 5 is about the position of the mushrikeen with regards to the Qur’an. Ayah 6 is the command for firmness and forgiveness.

Ha-Mim. A revelation from Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. A Book whereof the Verses are explained in detail; A Quran in Arabic for people who know. Giving glad tidings and

warning, but most of them turn away, so they listen not.

The word كــــــــــتاب comes from the word كــــــــــتب meaning written. The word قـــــــــرآن comes from the word قــــرأ which means to recite. The first ayah revealed on the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is ــك اقــــرأ بــــاســــــــم ربــــــــذي خـــــــــلق from Surah ( ,Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists)) الـAl Alaq 96:1. The Qur’an is recited. After the whole Qur’an was sent, then it is a Book .(كتاب)

The Qur’an was in the Preserved Tablet as a Book. Then it came down to the lowest heaven as a Book. Then it came down to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) part by part as verses and surahs. Then when all the verses had come down, then it is a Book (كــــــــــــــــــــتاب). So the Qur’an as a whole is the Book (كل القرآن هو الكتاب).

The Qur’an is revealed from Allah (جل جلاله)- Ar Rahman Ar Raheem. What came down from Ar Rahman Ar Raheem? The Book (كــــــــــــــــــــتـاب). This is the evidence that the Qur’an is a Book The verses of this Book is clear and detailed, explaining everything. This is the .(كــــــــــــــــــــتـــاب)Qur’an in Arabic. (قرآنا عربيا).

The Qur’an gives glad tidings and warnings but the disbeliever rejected it, turned away and didn’t listen to it.

Day 9- Places of Istigfaar in the Qur’an مواطن الإستغفار ف القرآن

And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in

our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way).”

They give excuses for why they don’t benefit from the Qur’an: • Because of a barrier in our heart • Deafness in our ears • Barrier between us.

This is the reason they give for rejection and this shows that they hate it. Then they say, you do what you want to do. We are happy and content with our disbelief. Just like how the believers are happy and content with their belief.

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I am only a human being like you. It is inspired in me that your Ilah

(God) is One Ilah (God - Allah), therefore take Straight Path to Him (with true Faith Islamic Monotheism) and obedience to Him, and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe to Al-Mushrikun

After facing the disbeliever and their rejection of the Qur’an, what does Allah (جل جلاله) tell the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)? Say to them (قل):

1. (.I am only a human being like you) إنما أنا بشر مثلكمI am like you, but Allah has favored me with inspiration and He commanded me to believe in it and follow it.

2. (It is inspired in me) يوحى إليAll the evidence shows that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) received inspiration. At the age of 40, Allah inspired to Him on a particular night. It is not possible for a person to think of this (جل جلاله)inspiration on his own. What was he inspired to?

3. ( ,that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God - Allah)) أنما إلهكم إله واحد This is the detail of his inspiration- my Ilaah and you Ilaah is One. He is calling them to tawheed in worship which is تــــــــــــــــــوحــــــــــــــــــيـد الالــــــــــــــــــوهــــــــــــــــــيـة. Your Ilaah is the One you need to devote

yourself to and attach to. It also shows the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is a slave of Allah (جل جلاله) and His Messenger.

These three points are news. Then Allah (جل جلاله) commands the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) with 2 commands:

1. therefore take Straight Path to Him(with true Faith Islamic) فــــــــــاســــــــــــتـقــيـمـــوا إلــــــــــيـهMonotheism) and obedience to Him,)

Allah commands him for istiqaamah; meaning take the straight path reaching to Allah without going right or left. This is knowledge and action. You can't go to Allah on a crooked path. It means to believe in all the news and to submit and surrender. It means to obey all the commands. This shows sincerity (الإخــــــلاص) as the word used is إلــــــيه meaning to Allah (جل جلاله). You do istiqaamah for the sake of Allah (جل جلاله), you follow the rules for His sake and not for the people.

But while you are on the path of istiqaamah, you cannot be straight 100%. You try your best but sometimes some words or actions come on your bath affecting your istiqaamah. You try your best but sometimes you fall. Be easy on yourself and on others- we are humans.

Allah (جل جلاله) gives the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) the next command;

2. (.and seek forgiveness of Him) واستغفروهAsk forgiveness. When you are trying your best- to pray, read Qur’an, do any good deed, yet you slip so you ask for forgiveness. Don't rely on yourself or think you are doing well 100%. Constantly seek the forgiveness of Allah (جل جلاله). Otherwise you will be proud and happy with yourself without thinking that this is from Allah (جل جلاله). When you think like this, then the deed can be removed from you. So always ask Allah (جل جلاله) for forgiveness.

Try your best, do istiqaamah but constantly ask Allah (جل جلاله) for forgiveness.
