Discuss:

Bible Story: Thief on the Cross. Luke 23:39-43.

1) What do you think of what the thief said on the cross? 2) Do you believe Jesus died for you? 3) What does it mean to believe and follow Jesus?

Jesus loves you so much. He wants you to know His love. Instead of you being punished for your sin, your mistakes and poor choices, Jesus took your place and was punished for you.

When we tell Jesus honestly about our sin (confess) and we are sorry in our hearts for our mistakes and bad choices (repentance) then Jesus forgives ALL our sins and makes us holy. We become new and fresh on the inside, in our hearts.

His forgiveness is so special and nobody can take that kind of love away. Because we believe in Jesus and receive His love and forgiveness we are called children of God and we get to know Him now on earth. One day we will see Jesus face to face in heaven and live with Him forever in heaven.

He will be glad to forgive your sins if you ask Him to. We can tell him, “Thank You Jesus for dying for me. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus”. When we ask Him to save us, He will. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Joel 2:32. Do you want to believe and receive Jesus? There will be an opportunity to pray and receive Jesus in today’s Closing Video.

When we make Jesus Lord of our life, we grow further in our belief and make Him the ruler/the boss of our whole life. Just like we learned yesterday about trust, we can follow and obey Him as we grow in our faith.

Pray: Thank you Jesus that you died on the cross for my sins. You make me right with God and have removed and forgiven my sin. Help me to grow closer to you, to trust, follow, and obey you. Help me to walk in the new life you have given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Bottom Line: Jesus saves me from my sins. I am made new in Christ.

Day 3 Family Time SALVATION

SURF’S UP KIDZ KAMPday 3: salvation

Today we are learning that Jesus is our SAVIOUR and the LORD of our lives! In knowing Him and believing in Him, we can be saved. Craft: GOSPEL BEAD BRACELET

Through today’s craft you will learn how you can be saved by God and show others how they may be saved too!

You will need: • String* • 6 beads: black, red, blue, white, green,

and yellow* plus brown beads*

1. Lay all your beads out in front of you, make sure you have all 6 colours!

2. Thread the beads onto the string in this order: black, red, blue, white, green and yellow.

3. As you thread your beads onto your string, please read the separate card on the next page.

4. Move the beads to the middle of the string. 5. Tie a knot on each side of the beads (before the

black bead and after the yellow bead), if you cannot tie a knot, ask a grown-up to help you.

6. Now, take both ends of the string to tie an adjustable knot. You may need a grown-up’s help for this!

7. Take the first end and tie a knot on the second end.

8. Take the second end and tie a second knot near the first end.

9. TA-DAAA!!! You now have a new bracelet with a special meaning behind it. With it you can share with your friends and family how you have been saved through Jesus and how they may also be saved!

Black represents SIN. Sin is what separates us from God. Sin are things we say or do that make God unhappy. Because of sin, our hearts are no longer clean and we cannot be with God. But with God we can make our hearts clean.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 ESV

Red represents the BLOOD JESUS SHED on the cross for our sins and through Him we are saved.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 ESV

White tells us we are now clean and FORGIVEN. It is a reminder that Jesus died on the cross for us as punishment for our sins.

He himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.

1 Peter 2:24 ESV

Blue is for BAPTISM. Baptism is a way for you to tell the world that you have chosen to follow God.

Repent and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38 ESV

Green reminds us to keep GROWING IN GOD’S LOVE. It is important that we continue to grow our relationship with Jesus.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

2 Peter 3:18 ESV

Yellow is for the promise of ETERNAL LIFE. The Bible tells us that God is preparing a place in heaven for us and only through Jesus may we have eternal life. In heaven we will get to live with God! That’s amazing!!!

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Black - Blackberry, Black Plum, Seaweed Red - Strawberry, Raspberry, Watermelon, Cherry Tomato Blue - Blueberry White - Bread, Pita bread, White Dragonfruit Green - Grape, Bell Pepper, Kiwi, Avocado Yellow - Banana, Cheese Slices, Pineapple, Mango

As you eat your snacks for today, remember that Jesus saves you from your sins. You are made new in Christ.

Today’s extra activity is a gift you can make for a friend or a family member to share the gift of salvation through Jesus!

You will need: • Small jar with lid • Jelly beans / M&M’s / small marshmallows

(black/brown, red, blue, white, green and yellow) • Ribbon • Pencil • Paper

1. Make sure you have jelly beans or M&M’s in the colours black, red, blue, white, green and yellow (use marshmallows for white if you use M&M’s).

2. Now, sort the jelly beans or candies by colour. 3. Layer the jar in the order they are listed in the Jelly Bean Prayer Poem. 4. Once filled, close the jar and tie a ribbon around the lid. 5. Write out or print the Jelly Bean Prayer Poem to go along with your jar.

Jelly Bean Prayer Poem

Black is for our sin ~ all the wrong things we have done. Red is for the blood of Jesus ~ He shed for everyone! White is for a heart so clean ~ washed as white as snow. Yellow is for the streets of Heaven ~ how lovely they glow. Green is for growing ~ hide His word in your heart. Put your trust in Jesus, God’s Son, give your life a brand new start!
