Tele-medicine
The future presents opportunities for technology to meet the crucial needs of society, health being one of the them. Tele-medicine has been identified as one of the ways health care can be improved among underserved communities who have limited access to proper health care.
Tele-medicine is the use of communication and information technologies for delivery of clinical care through the phone or Internet with the purpose of consulting for remote medical procedures or examinations.

The healthcare industry in Kenya has begun to move from isolated pilot programs to more widespread use of telemedicine. The technology is cheaper and easier to use hence making the services deployed to be provided to people in underserved areas at a minimum cost.
• Patients receive specialized treatment from qualified doctors.• This project will improve the livelihoods of the people living in underserved areas.
• This project will empower the people living in these communities and encourage them to seek medical attention when ill.
Benefit to communities
Some of the areas the project focuses on range from: •Child and Maternal health care•Children with paraplegic conditions•Emergency cases•Child birth

Community Knowledge CentresCommunity Knowledge Centres were formed to improve the literacy level of Kenyans and empower communities.
Community Knowledge Centres commonly know as CKCs are e-learning centres that present the following opportunities for communities they operate in.
Success StoriesSEKENANI AND MUGAMBO
CKCs at Sekenani in the Mara and Mugambo in Meru are the flagship centres that have successfully embraced technology and improved the lives of the communities around them.
SekenaniThe CKC aims to empower the Mara community to access information and communication technology. A Maasai Moran managed to learn a foreign language through online tutorials at the CKC. He is now an efficient translator to the many tourists who visit the Mara annually.
MugamboMugambo Community knowledge centre was formed to assist the Meru community. The CKC has enabled the community in conducting business and creating market for their produce.
Tele-presence in Universities
Technology is important in today’s world of teaching. Teaching demands that lessons extend beyond physical facilities to reach students and educators across the world.
Currently 6 universities enjoy Tele-presence solutions in Kenya.
By continually pushing the boundaries of using technology to enable next generation learning. The following will be achieved:
•Providing access to content and experts anywhere, anytime;•Bring together multicultural students;•Improve administration and staff productivity;•Integrate course lectures and live content with learning management systems;•Increase professional development.
