Day 27 God Is… God Who Does Wonders Read: Psalm 86:8-11; Psalm 77:14 GO to Psalm 86. David is the writer of this Psalm, and he is praying to God. His prayer includes not just petitions, but also praise. We should remember that when we pray. God deserves our praise as well as our pleas. He speaks in verse 10 of God doing wondrous things. God does things that are phenomenal. They are not describable in human terms. Only an Almighty God could do these things! David was in some sort of trouble when he prayed. Maybe he was being chased by Saul and his men, we don’t know. But it’s true that desperate times call for desperate measures, and whenever we are in a tough spot, there’s no where to turn than to Him for help. A God who could do “wondrous things” could surely work for David’s situation! What about you? How do you view God? Do you see Him as David did as a God who could do miracles, or not? In other words, how big is your God? Does it match up to what scripture says about Him? If so, cry out to Him. He’s waiting to help you! Write below what you need God to help you with today – then watch Him work. He’s Awesome! - Thank God for something He's done within the last 24 hours! Day 28 God Is… One Who Forgives Read: Psalm 99:8; Colossians 2:13-14; Ephesians 4:32 The fact is God is a forgiving God, for which we should be extremely thankful! How deep does the forgiveness of God run? We’re told to forgive as Christ has forgiven us, but how much were we forgiven? He was hated: He had done nothing wrong. God Is… God Who Does WondersRead: Psalm 86:8-11; Psalm 77:14

GO to Psalm 86.

Day 28God Is… One Who ForgivesRead: Psalm 99:8; Colossians 2:13-14; Ephesians 4:32

The fact is God is a forgiving God, for which we should be extremely thankful! How deep does the forgiveness of God run? We’re told to forgive as Christ has forgiven us, but how much were we forgiven?

He was hated: He had done nothing wrong. In John 15:25, He says, “They hated me without a cause.” That’s pretty hard to take. They had no reason to hate Him. He had loved them, but they despised Him.

He was beaten: it has been said that there has never been such cruelty done to any man than was done to Christ, yet he never cried out in His own defense. He was not even recognizable as a man when the hung Him on the cross. Yet after that, He said, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And yet He calls us to do the same thing for others. We’re told to forgive even as Christ forgave— in the same manner. Forgiveness isn’t based on how much I’ve been offended, but on how much I’ve been forgiven! You and I were a

part of Christ’s punishment on Calvary. We weren’t there when it happened, but He died for our sins just as much as those that were there. God’s forgiveness of you is no less amazing than what it was for the Roman soldiers or those that spat on Him! - Thank God for something He's done within the last 24 hours!

An Explanation of this Devo Booklet

How important it is to reflect on the character and names of God! It is a practice that will help us to grow deeper in our love for God, realizing some of the ways that God reveals Himself to us. This is nowhere near to being an exhaustive list of His descriptions. It would probably take a couple of years to do that – maybe longer! But this will give you a good start! Happy Studying!.

The booklet is set up without specific dates to the devotional thought. There are 2 sections in most of the daily studies. The “Explore” section is intended to have the reader gather information that will be helpful in later application. These questions will be of the “who, what, when, where, and how” type questions. The “Get It” section will be more for application. These questions will address, “What does that mean, and how does it apply to my life?”

Take time to do the “Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours.” Try to remember on your own to thank God in your prayer time. It works wonders in your life! It does us so much good to remember that we have a living Savior Who can’t wait to shower us with blessings daily!

I trust this book will be a blessing to all who put the energy into studying it. These booklets are available online at http://www.iowafit4life.org. God bless you as you spend time in His Word!

God Is… My RockRead: Psalm 61:1-7; Deuteronomy 32:4

What do you think it meant to call God their “rock.”

We don’t think of a rock as being all that flattering. Kind of dull, in fact. But not so with this thought. The rock was known as a very sturdy, steadfast object that we could base our life on and stand firm.

Remember the parable in Luke 6:48-49 about the wise man and the foolish man? Go back there and look it up. What is the difference between these two guys?

What does the sand, or earth refer to?

What about the rock?

Can you say you’re standing on the solid rock? Why or why not?

Day 26God Is… The Only Wise GodRead: 1 Timothy 1:17; Jude 1:25; Romans 16:27

It certainly makes sense that if God is the only God (and He is) that He is the only wise God! It also makes perfect sense that He is all wise, if for no other fact than that He is the creator of all! He has to be all wise!

It’s a relief to know that we have a personal relationship with an all wise God, and that He welcomes us to ask Him for wisdom when we need it. Read James 1:5:

What does this tell us about asking for wisdom? (“liberally” means generously; “upbraideth not” means God does not coldly reply to us)

There’s another thing to think about with God being an all wise God. We don’t know what’s really best for us regarding careers, mates, colleges… But God Does! He knows exactly what is the best for me, and will guide into that path if we just

allow Him to. Knowing this, will just now commit to Him your plans for the future? You’ll be glad you did! Write it below:

Day 23God Is… Friend of SinnersRead: Matthew 20:29-34

The world totally misunderstood the Savior! They thought that if He was with sinners, He must have doing the same thing that the sinners were. Such was not the case! God’s design is to love the sinner, but yet hate the sin. We need to note that it never mentions going to questionable activities with the sinners, just their homes (not taverns or dances or movie theatres…). Some have tries to use that argument that since Christ hung out with sinners, then we need to go to the place of the sinners and reach them there. That was not His conduct at all.

But the fact remains that He loves sinners. It’s a good thing, because that’s exactly who I am! Luke 19:10 says “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” The reason He had to come to earth and die on Calvary was for sinners like me and you!

What is your response to sinners? Oh, it’s easy to classify people and label them as ”sinners”, “bad sinners”, and “really bad sinners”… But we are all sinners, and God sees us all that way, until we trust Christ as our Savior, and our sins are covered by the blood of Christ! Maybe you’ve had a bias toward them that are “really bad.” How do you think God would have you view them?

- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 24God Is… Indescribable GiftRead: 2 Corinthians 9:15; 1 John 5

Would you have eternal life without Christ? Certainly not! How much is that worth? You couldn’t come up with anything that could come close to being the same value as eternal life! That’s right! That’s why it’s described as an unspeakable gift. And yet we so lightly speak of salvation and heaven and the benefits of being a son of God. We don’t stop and consider the value of it, and because it becomes common place to us, we take for granted!

Page 7: Day 1€¦  · Web viewWell, Joshua was the new kid on the block. He had just taken over for Moses, who had just died. God had spoken to Joshua before, but had never appeared to

The true story is told of a very wealthy man who collected art. He saw a picture of these two paintings and he wanted them very badly. He told his staff members they were to search for them and find them, and then purchase them, no matter the cost. For months they searched, and finally found them in the same city that the wealthy man lived. They took him to the warehouse where the paintings were, and the man said, “This is where the paintings are?” “Yes, “What’s wrong?” replied the staff person. The man said, “I own this warehouse and everything in it. Those paintings have been mine all along!

Pause now and give God thanks for this unspeakable gift!

Day 1God Is… Abounding in Goodness and TruthRead: Exodus 34:6-7

What a description of God in verse 6! He is – among other things – abundant in goodness and truth. What does that mean to you?

When it says that He will “by no means clear the guilty,” what does that mean?

Our God is not wishy-washy – one way today and another way tomorrow. Nor does He have respect of persons – to treat one person one way and another a different way. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. When it says He will by no means clear the guilty, He is keeping everything in check. God is not just one-sided. In other words some would say that God is ONLY Love. Not True! God is also just, and because of that, He can’t just look the other way at sin. But God is full of goodness and truth! What a divine balance! What can you say to thank God for His character today?

- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 2God Is… AlmightyRead: Genesis 17:1-19

Read verse 1. God says, “I am the _________________ _______ .”How did demonstrate to Abraham that he was Almighty? What promise did He make?

Page 8: Day 1€¦  · Web viewWell, Joshua was the new kid on the block. He had just taken over for Moses, who had just died. God had spoken to Joshua before, but had never appeared to

Why would this action require an Almighty God?

Many times we doubt God because we know what He is wanting to do through us is impossible. I mean, how can God be serious when He asks us to live holy lives, such as He did with Abraham? Isn’t that pretty well impossible for us? YES! But with God, all things are possible. That’s what God is all about. He wants us to know Him to be the miracle-working God, and He wants us to know that, not just through reading about guys like Abraham, but He wants to prove it in your own life! But the only way is for you to step out in faith and trust Him.

If you go back to read the rest of this story, how Abraham didn’t exercise faith, but thought Ishmael was going to be the answer instead of waiting for Isaac, You realize that even Abraham blew it a time or two. When that happens and you blow it, get back on your knees and keep trusting the Lord for His plan. Remember – God is Almighty!!!- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 3God Is… ALL!Read: Ephesians 1:18-23; Colossians 3:11

Who else could be described as being “ALL?” No one But God! He is my all in all. What does that mean? Well, the hymn-writer Lowell Mason put this way:

I hear the Savior say, “Thy strength indeed is small; Child of weakness watch and pray; Find in me thine all in all.”Jesus Paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

What would your life be like if it wasn’t for Christ? First, you wouldn’t be here because He is the Creator of the Universe (John 1:1-5; Col. 1:15-17). Second, you would have no hope of eternal life, because He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Third, you’d have no victory in your life, because Christ provided that when He rose from the dead (1 Cor. 15:55-58).

But let’s turn another corner. If Christ was all you had, would that be enough? It should be, but is that true of your life right now? If you didn’t have any friends, no family, no possessions, no music, no car, nothing— would He be enough? When you need help, where is the first place you turn to? Is it God? He wants to have that kind of relationship with you! What will it take from you to have that in your life today?- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 4God Is… The Author of Eternal SalvationRead: Hebrews 5:9

I was witnessing to a young man once who was having a hard time believing that it was not his own good works that would save him, but Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary – grace alone – that could save him. I used this illustration: I asked him what his favorite sport was, and he replied, “Baseball.” I said, OK. Suppose you were playing baseball and you were up to bat, and you had 2 strikes against you. The pitcher through one right across the plate and you swung as hard as you could, but you hear the unmistakable smack of the ball hitting the catcher’s mitt, and the umpire yelling, ‘You’re out.’ You argue with the ump, ‘But you don’t understand. I get 4 strikes, not just 3.” Now that might seem ridiculous, but so it is to think that we can make up our own rules of getting to heaven and arguing with God and the Bible when He wrote the rules! God is the author of eternal life and not me! Because of that, I MUST do it HIS way!

There’s something else in that verse. It says that He is the “author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him.” Have you accepted Christ as Savior? If not, you cannot claim Him as

Day 21God Is… Our FoundationRead: Isaiah 28:16

We looked at this concept some on Day 9, but we’ll consider something else about this passage and concept today. Let me ask you a question: What is your basis of belief? Now, don’t just give me the pat answer- “the Bible”– without thinking it through. I’m not saying “what should be” but “what is” your basis of belief?

We all have a life philosophy whether we know it or not. That might be based on experience or training or family background or whatever. But either a person’s basis of belief is on the Bible or it isn’t. We are going through some of the names and descriptions of God, and hopefully as a result, you’ve come closer to the Lord. When we know God more, we’re closer to Him.

Read Daniel 11:32. Who are those that do exploits or great acts for God?

Have you ever watched mountain climbers? I’m amazed at how some of them scale those walls with hardly anything to hang on to. They might look for a solid footing for several minutes before making that next step, because if that footing is not solid, it may be their last! We have solid footing in the Word of God! You can trust it completely!- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 22God Is… Fountain of Living WaterRead: Jeremiah 2:13

In Psalm 36:9 it says, “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.” The children of Israel had left their fountain of life. They had deserted their God.

Why do you think God is called the fountain of life?

When I think of a fountain, I think of breathtaking cold water that’s better than I have ever tasted before! God is our fountain of life. To reject Him is to reject:- Life itself, because without water we will die- All sufficiency of grace and strength- Bountiful and abundant living, as a plant needs water to

bear fruit- His blessings of mercy and kindness toward us - The joy that comes from finding our “oasis” in a dry land- Refreshment that comes from fresh, cold water

God Is… Father to the FatherlessRead: Psalm 68:4-5

How great is this God that we serve! The same who rides upon the heavens (that’s pretty cool to think about) is the same One who is a father to the fatherless. He is Almighty God, yet He cares for the needs of the downcast. What a blessing this passage has been to those who have lost their dad. To know that God made a special provision to be to them what they could not have in a human relationship.

Read Jeremiah 49:11. What does provide the fatherless with there?

Read Hosea 14:3. How does God provide for the fatherless there?

Read Psalm 10:14,18, and 146:9. What’s provided there?

Maybe you’re fatherless, or maybe you have a friend that is. No today that God has a very special place in His heart for those that either through death or separation have no contact with their fathers. Comfort one another with these passages!

- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 20God Is… Our FortressRead: Psalm 91:1-4

Look closely at verse 2. God promises to be our fortress. What a picture is given for us in verse 4. God covers us with His wings as a mother hen does her chicks. Nothing can harm them. I heard recently of an amazing animal story. There was a forest fire that took many acres of land. When the fire died down, the firefighters went to dose down the trees son that the fire would not start back up. One of them made a startling discovery. There was a bird sitting upright on the ground, charred and dead, but still in a standing position with its wings spread out. The firefighter nudged it over and out came the baby birds – kept alive under the protection of mother’s wings! She was their fortress!

Page 13: Day 1€¦  · Web viewWell, Joshua was the new kid on the block. He had just taken over for Moses, who had just died. God had spoken to Joshua before, but had never appeared to

God in the same way is our fortress. He keeps us safe from all harm. What joy it must bring Him when His children come running to Him in time of trouble! When was the last time you came running to Him as your fortress?

When is there ever a time that we shouldn’t run to Him in that way?

Why not go to Him today and regard Him as your refuge and fortress?

- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!-

Day 5God Is… Author and Finisher of our FaithRead: Hebrews 12:2

Yesterday we talked about Christ being the author of Salvation, and today’s verse is speaking of something similar. What does it mean that He is the “author and finisher of our faith?” Put your own thoughts before looking below.

One of the thoughts that I have is that Christ started it and He finished it. In other words, not only did He come down to earth as a man to provide the perfect sacrifice for sin, but then He rose from the grave to provide victory over sin, death, and hell. When He yelled “It is finished” on the cross, the Greek word he used meant that it was paid in full – there was no other payment needed to pay the price. This word “finisher” is related to that word, and it means “complete, or perfect.” He didn’t just start something and not finish it, but he finished it completely and fully. He not only provided a fire escape from hell, but also made heaven available to us! He’s even in heaven right now praying for you and me, and preparing a mansion for us to come and live! Talk about a finisher!

God Is… Our BannerRead: Exodus 17:8-16

You ask what this passage has to do with God being our banner? That’s what Moses calls Him in verse 15 – Jehovah-Nissi – or “the Lord is my banner!” What does that mean? Write out your thoughts (without peeking below):

Page 14: Day 1€¦  · Web viewWell, Joshua was the new kid on the block. He had just taken over for Moses, who had just died. God had spoken to Joshua before, but had never appeared to

When Amalek fought with Israel, The Lord was not pleased. The children of Israel were not great men of war, in fact they had never even fought before. Joshua was their very first general. God instructed Moses that when he raised his arms up with the staff of God, the battle would go their way. But his arms got heavy and they would sag, so Aaron and Hur would hold them up for him. The children of Israel won! The staff in Moses’ hands was like a flag or a banner. Moses realized that it was God Who won the battle, not man. It is fitting that He Who does all the work deserves all the praise!

Read Psalm 20:5. We should not be embarrassed about representing God, and holding a banner over us that says, “I belong to God. I have been bought with a price, and I will live for Him!” Doesn’t that seem fitting to the One Who died for us? Is this your life testimony? Do you unashamedly proclaim that God is your banner? What flag do you have flying overhead? What do you stand for?- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 7God Is… Bread from HeavenRead: John 6:32-35

Jesus makes various claims of representing different objects – the door, the way, truth, and life, living water, resurrection and life, the vine, the good shepherd… And He is all of these. Today, we’ll look at how He is the bread of life.

In Old Testament days, God gave manna down from heaven to the Israelites. The symbolism of bread from heaven, then, was something that Christ’s audience recognized. These were those that had been present at the feeding of the 5,000 (see John 6:1-14). Why do you think what He said in verse 35 is significant to this crowd?

How is it true that he who partakes of the bread of life shall not hunger again?

What does God do with all those who come to Him? (verse 37)

- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 8God Is… Builder and MakerRead: Mark 6:3; Hebrews 11:10

Not only was Jesus the son of a carpenter, but He was a carpenter by trade, and probably made his living that way until His public ministry began when He was 30. Also, don’t forget that Jesus Christ is the person of the Godhead that actually created the universe (John 1:3; Colossians 16-17). He knows how to build – but not just the physical things that you and I can see - but He’s building a spiritual structure that only God could build. He made heaven, and then found a way for us to get there from here!

Psalm 127:1 says, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:” We could try our hardest in life to accomplish something great, but unless we do it God’s way and trust in Him to build it through us, we’re kidding ourselves. What great dream do you have of accomplishing someday?

In what way have you allowed God to have first shot at that dream, so it will be successful?

Day 17God Is… Everlasting StrengthRead: Isaiah 26:1-4

Why should we place such confidence in the Lord? That is not a derogatory question, but one that requires some thought. Why should we depend on Him so heavily? For every good question, the Bible gives a very good answer! We have the answer here in this text. Look first at verse 3. I love to share this with people that I visit in the hospital, or that are going through tough times.

* Who does God give perfect peace to?

* Why does He give it to them? (last phrase of v.3)

God wants for us more than just to know about Him, but to know Him experientially. When we constantly go to Him and find that He is always there, we come to find out that He will always be there for us, not just through life, but also through death. Now we see why that person can have perfect peace, can’t we? Notice in verse 4:

* How long is His strength good for?

* How does that refer to eternal life?

- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 18God Is… Faithful and TrueRead: Revelation 19:11

Read Revelation 19:11-16. This is referring to the time in the future, at least 7 years from now (after the tribulation) that Christ mounts His white horse and leads the army of heaven (of which all who are saved will take part). This is an awesome passage, ending with Christ’s victory over the warriors jn the great battle of Armageddon.

Now go back to verse 11. Christ is sitting on the white horse, and His name is “Faithful and True.” In this day in which we live where politicians will tell us anything just to get elected, where people in authority are bribed for special privileges, where divorce rates are at an all time high… There’s not a lot of faithfulness and truth to go around. But Christ is faithful and true. The words of a song go like this:

My Redeemer is faithful and true; Everything He has said He will do;Every morning His mercies are true; My Redeemer is faithful and true.

Page 18: Day 1€¦  · Web viewWell, Joshua was the new kid on the block. He had just taken over for Moses, who had just died. God had spoken to Joshua before, but had never appeared to

Read Hebrews 13:5. What promise does God give to you there?

Because He is faithful and true, what situation in your life do you need to trust Him with?

Day 15God Is… The DoorRead: John 10:7-10

Christ again reveals Himself to be an object, this time it is a door. A door has two positions- open and closed. First, the open door. Read Revelation 3:20. While the illustration has changed a little, and Christ is knocking at the door of our heart, the same principle applies. What does Christ want to do? He wants to open the door and come in and have fellowship with His “sheep.” But He is the door, and He invites into the fold all that the Father gives to Him. In order to enter in, we must realize that Jesus Christ is the only door to heaven (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). But as an open door allows one to come into the home for fellowship, so is this door open. God doesn’t just want us to be eternally saved, and leave it at that. He wants to enjoy fellowship with us. He wants us to enjoy it the same as He does.

Secondly, the closed door. This is the position of protection. God protects us from the wolves who would destroy us. Satan would love to convince us that we don’t belong to God and try to steal our hearts, but God Himself is the door, and will never let us go!

- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 16God Is… Our Dwelling PlaceRead: Psalm 90:1

Remember the old game of tag? We used to play that all the time. Since I was small quick, I was hard to catch, but then I would finally lose my breath, and need a rest. I would run to “home base” where I could take a breather. That’s the same concept that Moses, the writer of Psalm 90, is referring to.

God loves to be our secure place that we can run to. The meaning of this word has to do with a place where somebody could call home when he comes from a long trip. It also means a familiar safe place that one runs to from danger or a place one naturally runs to where he feels very secure. The idea of God being our dwelling place means that when we’re in trouble,

we run back to Him, where we’ve been before. It’s safe there, and we feel very secure and comfortable. Nothing can harm us there, because we have protection. We can call God our very own, he feels so at home there.

Where do you run when you’re in trouble? Where is your home base? Running to God as our dwelling place means for us to turn to Him first, often, and completely. We share with our burdens (1 Peter 5:7), and lay out every care to Him, knowing that it’s safe to do that there. Go now to your “dwelling place.”

Day 9God Is… The Chief CornerstoneRead: Isaiah 28:16; Matthew 21:42; Eph. 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6;

Jesus is the chief cornerstone of salvation, God’s redemptive plan for mankind. Just what does this mean? Well, in constructing a building of stone, The builder would select the perfect cut stone of the strongest makeup, and would start with that stone at the first corner. The strength of the entire foundation would depend on that stone. In much the same way, salvation starts with Christ, and is only as strong as its founder. What a blessing to know that the founder is perfect!

Many people base their lives, not on the unchangeable Son of God, but on foolish things. They base it perhaps on having a good time, or pursuing financial success, or on humanistic philosophy that goes against the Word of God. Even if they get through life that way, they have an eternity waiting for them based on their choices.

How is your life reflecting your choice of what you base your life on? Does it reflect Christ as the rock or something else? How can you defend that?

Day 10God Is… ComforterRead: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

We think of a comforter sometimes as an extra blanket on our bed. But we have a far greater comforter than that – God himself. Maybe you’re having a bad day. Maybe you will tomorrow, and can look back on this and find great comfort in this devotional. See Hebrews 4:15-16. This passage speaks of

Page 20: Day 1€¦  · Web viewWell, Joshua was the new kid on the block. He had just taken over for Moses, who had just died. God had spoken to Joshua before, but had never appeared to

Jesus Christ, and how He is our great high priest – One Who listens to our prayers – and that He knows what we are going through, because He went through it as well. The reason He can comfort you is that He went through more cruel punishment than you and I could imagine, and He wants to comfort you when you go through those deep waters. Verse 16 tells us we can come to boldly to His throne when we’re under pressure. No one to talk to? Oh yes there is – a friend that sticks closer than a brother – Christ!

We often try to go it alone, because we don’t which way to turn. There’s one way you can always turn – UP! What struggle are you going through right now that you can take to the throne of God? He wants to hear from you. Just share it with Him right now!

Day 11God Is… Commander of the Lord’s ArmyRead: Joshua 5:13-6:3

The scene is historic – Joshua has just led the children of Israel into the promised land, and the next thing to happen is to take Jericho and watch the walls come tumblin’ down. But did you realize what happened in between these events? It was the appearance of God, probably the person of Christ, as the “Captain of the Lord’s host.” The NIV reads the “Commander of the Lord’s Army.” He had His sword drawn, and at first Joshua didn’t know if He were friend or foe. Realizing Who He was, Joshua fell to his face and worshipped Him.

Why did God appear to him in such a way during that time? Well, Joshua was the new kid on the block. He had just taken over for Moses, who had just died. God had spoken to Joshua before, but had never appeared to him. In Joshua 1, God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous, but that itself was not enough encouragement that he needed for his next task – taking Jericho. As Joshua’s difficulties increased, so did God’s encouragement.

Are you facing a huge trial or difficulty? If so, God desires to encourage you. Oh, not in a physical appearance to you, but through His Word and through prayer. As you seek His face, He will always be found (Matt. 7:7-11). What are you needing from Him today?

Day 12God Is… the Creator of the Ends of the EarthRead: Isaiah 40:28-31

We don’t very often think of how awesome God must be to be the Creator of all that lives! But that passage in Isaiah reminds us that He Who is powerful enough to create the world is certainly powerful enough to care for whatever needs we may have!

Read John 1:3. This verse speaks of Christ, and what does it say about Him?

Read Colossians 1:15-17. Speaking of Christ, what does it say about Him?

If God is the creator of the entire universe (as opposed to the lie of evolution), do you suppose he is powerful enough to fix a broken heart? Or an unresolved conflict? Or to encourage a downcast person? Of course He is! Wouldn’t it be an insult to

Him if we doubted His ability to fix our lives, after having created all that is? What burden do you have right now? List it below and give it to God completely!

Day 13God Is… My DelivererRead: Psalm 18:47-50

The praise of Psalm 18 comes right after some events in his life. David has just come out of a significant battle I 2 Samuel 21:15-22. Scan this passage and find out what has happened.

Psalm 18 is a reflection of the words that David spoke right after this battle. Read 2 Samuel 22:1-4, and find some names of God listed there. What does this say about David?

This tells me that David was a “man after God’s own heart.” He knew His God! He knew he could count on God as his deliverer. He had complete confidence in Him, because he had seen God work in his own life. How about you? Do you see God at work in your life? He is. You may not realize it, but every breath you take, God is at work in you. His greatest desire for us today is to deliver us from “the sin which so easily besets us” (Hebrews 12:1). Trust in Him today to do a huge work in your life!- Thank God for something He’s done within the last 24 hours!

Day 14God Is… DiademRead: Isaiah 28:1-5

I know what you’re thinking - what in the world is a diadem? Right? Well a diadem was used in ancient times, and was a head piece worn by the supreme ruler of the land. It was like a crown, but the difference is that a crown was awarded for faithfulness in service, and a diadem always symbolized royal authority.

Look closely at verse 5 of today’s text. He shall be for His people a crown of glory, meaning that he was found faithful to all He promised to do, and a diadem of beauty, signifying that He was in complete authority and had all power.

We often think about God in far and distant fashion. We don’t think of Him as having power in our lives around us. We fool ourselves. What we think is not always the truth, is it? We must recognize that he IS the King of Kings and Lord of Lords – that He is the only One that is Sovereign – has complete control over everything! And yet, he is my personal Savior. Isn’t that awesome? Some people we know are name droppers – “Yeah, I had dinner the other day with President Clinton” or whatever. But think about the fact that we can have a daily, personal
