Summer Vacations Homework
Class VIII Session (2015-16)
Dear children,
Summer is a great time to have fun. It is the perfect time for you to discover that learning is
enjoyable and can happen anywhere.
The much awaited summer vacation is here, make this time a learning experience. There are
great temptations for you to spend hours watching television or playing video games, but with
a little planning, the summer can be transformed into a time to stretch the mind, explore new
hobbies, learn about responsibilities and build on skills learned during the school year. It is an
escape from all the hard work and complications of normal school life. It allows us to spend
some time relaxing and enjoying the social aspects of life. However, you must continue learning
even when you are having fun. Learning can take place whether you are taking a trip to a far-off
place or spending time in your own neighborhood, going out with friends to the beach, or
having a fun filled party,
To inculcate originality, creativity and interest and keep you engaged in the scorching heat of
summer, we bring you a series of constructive and enjoyable activities. It will surely enhance
your learning process.
Wishing you all a very enjoyable and fun-packed summer break.

Topic- Electricity Sub topics covered- Sources of electricity, ways to save and conserve Electricity. Methodology- The students will conduct a survey on the amount of Electricity consumed and the ways to conserve electricity in ten houses in their locality. Based on the survey, they will fill the data in the given format.
House No.
No of members
No. of units consumed per month
Billing amount per month
Per head consumption=Billing amount per month/No of members
The students will analyse the data and will then conduct research work on the various ways in which Electricity can be conserved.
They will then address a formal typed letter on A4 size sheet to each household giving a list of suggestions through which they can save electicity. A copy of the letter will be pasted in the survey report.

Petrol Insurance Servicing Road tax
$1440 $425 $650 $1180
(i)The cost of petrol was $1.20 per liter. How many liters were used?
(ii)The average petrol consumption was 16 km/lit. What was the total distance travelled?
(iii)What was the total cost of running the car in 1999?
(iv)In 2000 the road tax remained the same. The petrol cost went up by 5%, the cost of servicing went by
15% and the insurance cost went down by 10%.What was the total cost of running the car in 2000?
(vi)Evaluate the percentage increase or decrease in the cost from 1999 to 2000, giving your answer
correct to two significant figure.
Q.2) If 500 balls cost £60, Calculate: (i)1 ball costs. (ii)800 balls cost. (iii) n balls cost.

Geography
For students promoted to Class VIII
Make this summer a learning experience. Congratulation you have
been prompted to new class and it’s a time to use the knowledge

around you. We will be experiencing holy month of Ramazan during
this summer break. So observe the things around and think how
related your Geography lectures are related to your daily life!
Task 1: Observe the moon condition
Islamic Day starts from the sightining of moon rather than by the Sun.
observe the condition of the moon by using your smart phones take a
periodic sneak peak at the moon and take a snapshot!
Make your observation table and paste the photographs of the moon
taken at specific intervals.
Smaple Table: Make your own Moon Calendar.

rises to the highest value in a year. So let’s analyze
trade in the festive period. Visit a nearby market
record the prices of three fruits and three other
food products before and during the month of
Ramzan.
Make a table and record the prices in a tabulated
form and calculate the percentage difference in
prices.
Collect news articles on the price issue of fruits/ products during the festive month. Write a comparative
report on the difference in Pakistan government strategies to control inflation and prices of products
during festivities compared with any other country during their festivals.

facts related to physical/ human features or about any specie or any scientific development regarding
environmental issues or any particular habitat.
Make a report of your findings in a tabulated or poster format.
Sample Poster:
Task 4: Let’s become an Environmental Activist!
This summer let’s do something for the well being of environment and spread environmental awareness
