Spread across two floors, we have the flexibility to bring your vision to life, whether you are planning a celebration for 180 people with music and dancing or a more intimate occasion for close friends and family.
Home to the UK cellars of Sandeman Port until 1957, our name comes from the traditional 2.1 litre bottle of Port. There are references to this heritage throughout, including feature lighting above the bar made from original Tappit Hens of Sandeman 1955, the last vintage to be bottled at St Swithin’s Lane. Today, our impressive wine selection is stored in the original 15th century cellar.

Enjoy welcome drinks in the ground floor bar area before heading to the restaurant for your wedding meal. Two private rooms offer extra versatility and useful spaces for anything from a dance floor, to break-out or lounge area. Each area can be re-set for your evening reception.
Your wedding planner will listen to your own particular needs and wishes and help you choose the right areas to bring your ideas to life.

For those who prefer cocktails with their canapés, our signature Portonic cocktail is highly recommended – alternatively, our talented bar team will work with you to create bespoke concoctions. An impressive selection of craft spirits and beers is also available from local distillers and breweries.

The Bank of England, St Paul’s Cathedral and Leadenhall Market as well as The River Thames, all offer easy-to-reach beautiful backdrops to your wedding day photography.
Getting to and from The Tappit Hen is simple. We are a few minutes walk from Bank and Monument Underground stations; while Cannon Street, Fenchurch Street and Liverpool Street National Rail stations are also all nearby. Taxis are readily available and for those who prefer to drive, there is limited street parking or or a private car park a short walk away.
