David Stinson Holiday Club – Covid-19 Summer School Plan

All of the children that attend the David Stinson Holiday Club will be allocated a GROUP and within each group they

will be separated further into groups of 5 children. Each group of 5 children will be called a bubble:

• Group 1 (A) bubble

• Group 1 (B) bubble

• Group 1 (C) bubble

• Group 2 (A) bubble

• Group 2 (B) bubble

• Group 2 (C) bubble

• Group 3 (A) bubble

• Group 3 (B) bubble

• Group 3 (C) bubble

• Group 4 (A) bubble

• Group 4 (B) bubble

• Group 4 (C) bubble

All children will be social distancing whilst indoors when sitting within their bubbles designated table. This will reduce

the risk of infection.

Each group of 15 children will have one teacher supervising them. The children will be taking part in a variety of drama

activities including script writing, script work, learning poems / monologues and tongue twisters. Outside, children will

have timetabled dance classes where they’ll be social distanced in the main playground.

The timetable will be set so that only one group of 15 children are in each hall at one point in time. If the weather is

very bad, there is still plenty of distance in both halls to ensure that both groups can stay separated with plenty of

space to social distance.

Please see the diagrams below which show the set up of both the Hall and the Studio.

Further down the document is the Risk Assessment which is a working document.

KEY

This picture represents three lunch benches which will form the ‘bubble’ within each

group. As you can see, the children are suitably distanced from each other even

within their own bubble. If there are not enough benches, we will use mats.

Level of Risk

How The Risk Is Controlled?

Further Action

Can you safely social distance students and staff in each room/studio? How will you do this?

Low Yes. We will split each hall/studio into two as they are both large enough to do this. As government guidance suggests, we will split children into small groups of 15. Within their group of 15, children will be split further into a bubble. Each bubble will have 5 children in them. Each bubble will have their own table and within their table they will still be socially distanced to further reduce the risk. In the playgrounds, groups will have separate playing areas and be encouraged to play within their bubbles. We will try our best to ensure that children are with their friend. All siblings will be placed in the same bubble.

How have you organised your rota of staff? Has this been done with a view to reducing the staff numbers in school to the minimum necessary?

Low Yes. We will have one member of staff per each group of 15 children. The same member of staff will stay with the group all week.

Page 6: David Stinson Holiday Club · Risk Assessment Name of School David Stinson Holiday Club – Invicta Primary School Date of Risk Assessment 02.07.2020 Venue/School Address Invicta

The school will have at least three qualified first aiders on site at any one time. The Designated Safeguarding Lead is David Stinson.

Do you know the medical conditions of all students and staff attending the school during this COVID-19 pandemic?

Low Yes. Parents fill in the medical conditions of their child on our automated secure webform. We also have two emergency contact numbers in the event of an emergency.

What class or group sizes are being adopted in the school? Are these consistent with reducing the student and staff numbers in school to allow social distancing?

Low There will be 4x groups of 15. Each group of 15 will be further reduced to groups of 5 children. These groups of 5 children will be known as bubbles. Government guidance advises groups of 15.

What social distancing measures are in place? Do they comply with Government Guidance?

Low Yes. Our social distancing measures comply with and exceed government guidelines. When indoors, children will be 2 metres away from each other on their bubble tables. When playing outside, children will be encouraged to play with children from just their bubble. All groups will play in separated play areas at all times. Parents/Carers will follow the 2 metre socially distancing queue system when dropping off / picking up their child. Physical markings will be used. All Groups (1, 2, 3, 4) will enter the premises via the top gate with a member of staff manning the telecom. Groups 1 & 2 will enter via the Fire Exit 1 (the queue will go down alongside the hall wall). Groups 3 & 4 will enter via Fire Exit 2 (the queue will go down alongside the studio wall).

What protocols are in place for contact between students and between staff and students (e.g. touching each other, borrowing a pen, handling costumes)?

Low Each child/teacher will have their own set of colouring pencils and writing pencil. No borrowing will be permitted by anyone. We will have a clear ‘No-Touching Policy’ in place which children will be reminded. Teachers will wear gloves when handing out / assisting with any child. Children will place their bag/coat on their bench next to them.

Page 7: David Stinson Holiday Club · Risk Assessment Name of School David Stinson Holiday Club – Invicta Primary School Date of Risk Assessment 02.07.2020 Venue/School Address Invicta

Is Personal Protective Equipment provided to staff? Low Yes. Staff will be provided with gloves, masks and a face shield. Staff will be expected to wear their masks and shields at all times when around children. Children will NOT wear PPE.

Is there a hygiene protocol providing for regular hygiene breaks of sufficient length during the day? Washing hands is our first line of defence against COVID-19 and should be done regularly.

Low Yes. Each group will be given a squirt of hand sanitiser every in regular intervals (see below for a break down). At the start and end of each break, every child will line up and wash their hands. This will be monitored by a member of staff.

Is there access to enough sinks with hot water and soap for the numbers of students and staff in school?

Low We have access to 1 sink that has hot water. This will be monitored by a member of staff. It will be cleaned every 30 minutes. Soap will be replenished accordingly.

Does every class have a supply of hand sanitiser (minimum alcohol 60%) and tissues?

Low Yes. The holiday club has plenty supply of hand sanitiser with 60% + alcohol as well as tissues. Parents will also be told to send their child in with their own pocket sized hand sanitizer so that they can use it when they need to. Each group will have their own sanitising station with tissues and hand sanitiser. A member of staff will also squirt every child as they enter the school in morning drop off; at the start of first break; at the end of first break; at the start of the lunch break; at the end of the lunch break; at the start of afternoon break; at the end of afternoon break and at the end of the day before they leave. If a child goes to the toilet or after specific activities, children will also be squirted with hand sanitiser.

Is there a strict regime of cleaning within the school, with particular attention paid to toilet areas, sinks ballet barres, and door handles.

Low Yes. -Tables will be cleaned down at the end of each session.

Page 8: David Stinson Holiday Club · Risk Assessment Name of School David Stinson Holiday Club – Invicta Primary School Date of Risk Assessment 02.07.2020 Venue/School Address Invicta

-Toilets will be cleaned every 30 minutes on a rota basis. Staff will be trained on how to clean the toilets effectively. -All doors will be kept securely open at all times so that no person needs to touch the handles. -Any objects or touch points will be cleaned at regular intervals throughout each day. -A deep clean will commence during the lunch break and at the end of each day -Bins will be located in each playground and learning area. These will be emptied daily.

Does the school have appropriate signage alerting all staff and students the need for high standards of hygiene?

Low Yes. There will be a selection of Public Health England signs and our own branded signs through the building informing people of the importance of high standards of hygiene. See posters below. -Laminated hand cleaning posters will be located in every toilet. -Avoid touching your face posters will be in every classroom and placed on every desk. -Coughing/Sneezing posters (catch it, bin it, kill it) posters will be in every learning area and on every desk.

Are all safety protocols clearly displayed (ideally laminated) in all areas of the school?

Low Yes. These will be displayed in toilets, learning areas, playground queueing area and on the school gates.

Is there temperature testing for staff and students? This should ideally be an infrared thermometer.

Low Yes. Every person will have their temperature checked at the beginning of each day. Their temperature will be recorded on our log. Please see a copy of the log below.

Is there a protocol for what to do where a student or staff member develops Covid-19 symptoms during the day?

Low When a child develops symptoms compatible with coronavirus (COVID-19), they will be put in the medical room (servery) with a member of staff supervising and then sent home. Members of staff with symptoms will be sent home immediately. All children in the studio/hall will have outdoor play until the child with symptoms is picked up. All areas will be cleaned thoroughly and the child’s bubble/group will be advised to get tested. A notification to all parents will be sent our via text message. The child sent home with parents will be advised to self-isolate for 7 days and arrange to have a test to see if they have coronavirus

Page 9: David Stinson Holiday Club · Risk Assessment Name of School David Stinson Holiday Club – Invicta Primary School Date of Risk Assessment 02.07.2020 Venue/School Address Invicta

COVID-19. They can do this by visiting NHS.UK to arrange or contact NHS 119 via telephone if they do not have internet access. Their fellow household members should self-isolate for 14 days. Where the child, young person or staff member tests negative, they can return to the setting and the fellow household members can end their self-isolation. If the child, young person or staff member tests negative but is unwell, they should not return to that setting until they are recovered. Where the child, young person or staff member tests positive, NHS Test and Trace will speak directly to those they have been in contact with to offer advice. The school will consult with NHS Track & Trace and/or Public Health England for further guidance.

Have parents/staff been reminded about the heightened risks of using fuel stations before attending work? Using gloves and tissues when filling up cars can reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Low Yes. Parents and staff will be asked to fill their cars up with fuel on the Sunday before each week and that they must take extra care when doing so. Advice will be to avoid public transport and walk/cycle to and from school where possible.

What additional control measures are in place to reduce the risk of any unnecessary people in the school? (e.g. are parents/carers being asked to wait outside?)

Low No adults will be permitted into the hall/studio for any reason what so ever unless it is an absolute emergency, in which case a member of staff will supervise this unauthorised person. Any Invicta staff that need access to the hall/studio will be asked to follow social distance measures – the same as the holiday club staff. If there is a contractor needing access to the hall/studio, children will play outside until work is completed. The area will then be cleaned down until children are allowed back in.

If your school is delivering online teaching, what safeguarding measures are in place?

Low n/a

Do you have a written Covid-19 risk assessment register? Does this capture who has seen and acknowledged seeing your control measures to reduce the spread of Covid-19?

Low Yes. All parents/carers will have seen this Risk Assessment prior to the holiday club that they have booked. Invicta’s Executive Headteacher (Vicki Cuff), SBM (Kate Fry) and Site Manager (Patrick) will all see a copy and offer advise where necessary.

Page 10: David Stinson Holiday Club · Risk Assessment Name of School David Stinson Holiday Club – Invicta Primary School Date of Risk Assessment 02.07.2020 Venue/School Address Invicta

Are you reviewing your risk assessments and protocols at regular intervals and when circumstances change?

Low Yes. This Risk Assessment is a working document and will be updated regularly as and when government policy changes.

Do you have a Plan B? If safe practise cannot be delivered in school, do your students and staff know what will happen?

Low If practise cannot be delivered in school, the holiday club will be closed.

How often will the Principal check Government advise and suggested protocols?

Low The Holiday Club leader will check Government Advise daily.

How will you safeguard and manage the wellbeing of children in your setting?

Low Staff will be provided additional safeguarding training. The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak may have caused significant mental health or wellbeing difficulties for some children and they may be at increased risk of harm or abuse. Staff will be informed to be extra vigilant and look at for the following signs: -unusual injuries, including bruises, burns, fractures, bite marks or signs of self-harm -consistently poor hygiene, poor living conditions or inappropriate clothing -communicating aggressively or using sexual language -appearing withdrawn, guarded, anxious or frightened, particularly around certain individuals Protocols are outlined in our Safeguarding Policy.
