Program OverviewWelcome to the 9th annual Current Concepts in Vascular Therapies Mid-Atlantic Conference in picturesque Virginia Beach. The symposiumwill offer up to 11.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ as well as maintenance of certification (MOC) credits. The sessions will be led by regional and national experts on a broad spectrum of vascular pathologies and directed towards healthcare professionals caring for patients with these conditions. A multidisciplinary panel of speakers from vascular surgery, vascular medicine, interventional radiology, and other specialties will provide state of the art updates on cutting-edge developments in open and endovascular approaches to treatment. Topics will include peripheral arterial disease, aortic and visceral arterial aneurysms and dissection, novel techniques for complex venous problems, cerebrovascular disease and dialysis access. Question and answer sessions, expert debates and panel discussions will help fulfill our mission of excellent patient care and high level education for healthcare professionals. 1. Explain the natural history of varicose veins and treatment options for truncal vein reflux.

2. Identify the role of embolization of specific arteries and veins for multiple different pathologies.

3. Define the essential elements of a Pulmonary Embolism Response Team.

4. Identify treatment options for submassive pulmonary embolism. 5. Describe the diagnosis and treatment for May-Thurner / Klippel-

Trenaunay / and other unusual venous pathologies. 6. Evaluate medical / endovascular / surgical treatment options for

patients with PAD. 7. Explain the controversy surrounding Paclitaxel coated balloons in

peripheral angioplasty. 8. Define the decision tree for treatment of acute limb ischemia. 9. Evaluate the treatment options for patients with Type B Aortic

dissection. 10. Describe the key concepts required for successful aortic surgery,

both endovascular and open. 11. Explain the approach to complex aortic aneurysm repair, para-

visceral, thoraco-abdominal, and ruptured. 12. Identify the key management principles of acute stroke

management. 13. Describe the timing of carotid intervention after TIA or small

stroke, and understand revascularization options available in 2019. 14. Identify the algorithm for AV access maintenance and when the

time has come for new access.
